Screw the dragons, I don't see how the Forsworn haven't wiped out the entire reach by now.

LOL! OK, but it still sounds vaguely naughty. ;)

Victoria TX? My uncle lives there.

Yup. I grew up in Yoakum, about 45 minutes north of Victoria.

My mom is part of the huge Stevens family that makes up about a third of the town. About a quarter of my 150-or-so-student graduating class were third or fourth cousins of mine.

Wow! Small world. Bob and Betty Martin are my uncle and aunt. I think uncle Bob use to own the Neiman Marcus or some other retail store before he moved into finances.

come to ny. I will show you things beyond imagining.

My big problem with NY is that it is the Urban of Urbans. It is the biggest, boldest, and most glaring example of "metropolis" in the entire country. It is the extreme example of everything implied by "city".

I don't like big cities.

Too many people. Too much traffic. Too many buildings too close together. Too many lights. Too much noise. Too much... stuff. Just too much.

Tempe was bad enough, tolerable but still crowded and cramped. The few times I had to actually visit downtown Phoenix I was utterly miserable and never once thought, "You know, it would be nice to live here." Phoenix doesn't hold a candle to NYC. It's a speck, a drop in an ocean in comparison.

Growing up, I always wanted to leave my rural, tiny hometown and move to the nearby big city, Victoria. (Which compared to Phoenix is tiny, so NYers probably wouldn't even recognize it as more than a suburb.) After actually living in a city for eight years while I was in Arizona, I learned that no, I really like living in a rural community with lots of space and lots of quiet and very little of urbanization.

I don't think I could stand being in NY for more than a couple of hours. =/

Victoria TX? My uncle lives there.

I don't mind visiting big cities for the most part, but working in them makes my brain itch!

The only reason I can imagine for me to want to go to NYC at this point in my life would be to meet CH and FHDM. I expect that would be very cool.

Having had FHDM as our guest, I can say it would be worth it. Helluva great guy to hang with.
Have you met Pat, AZ, or Jess in person? Paizocon was awesome!
Sadly I have not yet had the pleasure, one of the things I hope to do is meet as many of my fellow Fawtlies...

I was really very tickled with all the folks from the boards that I met at Paizocon especially the FAWTLs. TOZ was the only one I had met before. I have had lunch with Moff a couple of times; I miss him here.

BTW, if any FAWTLs are ever in Colorado we're happy to play host and/or tour guide!

Back from my second final. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the calc final was. They could have made it much harder. Glad they didn't. :)

Now I just have to write this last program (it's due tomorrow and I've barely started >.<) and then study like mad before taking the orgo final on Monday. So close to the end of the semester from hell.

Wooot!

You can do it!!!! :)

I'm not far behind you. :/

Hmmm

I'm bitter, old and tired, but I'm very social. I love talking to people that I like, and I'm quite extroverted. OTOH I have a rather low opinion of the human race in general. Go figure?

Hah, sounds exactly like me except the extroverted part.

You're not a cantankerous anti-social recluse.

You're a soulless, apathetic, ooze. Get it right.

Anywho... I still hate needles and shots. That is all.

And for SHAME Scint. I can't believe you wouldn't go on a trip for the Broadway shows. That, and maybe a visit to historical places. NYC is an eventual "maybe" for me--I would love to see a live musical/operetta on Broadway.

But crowds and claustrophobia!

I'm happy with off-Broadway.

Night folks, I think it's time to snuggle up with Solnes and watch some Undercover Boss: Australia.

Wish I had some wanderlust. Then I might be tempted more to nip off to paizocon.

And a happy birthday to Klaus.

Have a nice time, sounds like a productive evening.

EDIT: Tarnation, that sounds like snark. Just add a re- to the front of productive, might sound better.

Grr. Getting fed up with screwy internet connection.

Hope Sabine is doing better, aeglos.

And that Klaus is starting to smell better. (I remember an old CSI episode [yeah, I know... *rolls eyes*] where Grissom claimed taking a shower and rubbing yourself with a lemon helped with bad smells. Though I guess that could just be the writers thinking a scene with Jorja Fox in the shower was a good idea.)

On the great New York and pizza debates I'll just say that despite me very much not being a big city person it's in my top three list of places in the US I'd like to visit. And pizza - thin and crusty, preferably with salami, black olives, and mushrooms for topping. Deep dish is okay if you can't get the proper stuff, but at that point it's really just glorified toast.

I....want one...

Magic ships from Valhalla can fly, you can get to TX just as easy. ;)
How often there are rainbows in TX?

Doesn't matter, Solnes will be there. Better than any rainbow any day.

When will this be?

As long as I can find pulled pork BBQ with a vinegar based sauce I'm good. If not, I'll buy a cooker and make my own. ;)

Mustard or ketchup based?

Diane makes a great mustard based sauce!

My roommate drinks Sweet Baby Ray's straight out of the bottle.

When you (or your dog) get sprayed by a skunk tomato or lemon juice is supposed to help. I presume it has something to do with the acids. I'm also told lemon juice is helpful if you are trying to get the smell of decomposition off.

I sometimes use lemons to clean my hands after chopping onions or garlic. It's useful in cleaning stinky things.
