A typical afternoon in the life of Shiro and NobodysHome...

NobodysWife needs to stop by the Bay Street Mall to pick up makeup, underwear, and exchange a jacket. As she goes into Sephora, she sends Shiro and NobodysHome into "It's Sugar" to poke around
Shiro: You know, I once spent $100 in here!
NobodysHome: I don't know how you could do that. I don't even particularly like sugar...
Sees yard-long Twix bar... pauses... walks past... comes back... picks it up...
...and the floodgates open...

NobodysWife finally found the hapless duo with half a dozen boxes of Pocky, a yardlong Twix bar, a huge box of "Mystery Snack Foods from Japan" (Shiro's choice), "Candy from the 1960's" (both Shiro and I recognized it ALL as our childhood Halloween candy, so we of course HAD to buy it), a bunch of mini Reeses and sour gummies because why not? And yeah, $100 came and went in a sugary bang.

She rolled her eyes, took us to Victoria's Secret (where we managed not to buy any of the extremely-uncomfortable-looking undies on display), then told us to meet her at the toy store across the street from See's. In went NobodysHome for Christmas chocolates, and of COURSE you can't go into See's without two pounds of chocolate, while Shiro found some weird-looking toys at the toy store...

So yeah. NobodysWife wanted to run a simple errand to take care of some girly stuff. And came home with a carload of candy and toys.

NobodysWife first said, "I can't take you guys ANYWHERE!"
Thinking about it briefly, she realized, "No, that's wrong! I can take you anywhere, I just have to make sure not to let you out of my sight!"

EDIT: And who doesn't shop at Victoria's Secret naked?

No; that's why I was disappointed and thinking about not getting it. It was just 18 Twix bars packed into a yard-long package, which is far less entertaining. I finally decided that seeing the look on the kids' faces would be worth overpaying ($1.50 per bar for the novelty packaging, as opposed to $0.89 per bar at Target). It was. As we started Jade Regent, I leaned the giant box against the back of Impus Minor's chair. When they FINALLY made their Perception roll to notice it about 20 minutes later, their faces made the $11 "novelty surcharge" worth it.

I think Impus Minor slept with his arms curled around the empty box last night...

On the one hand, you're quite right.

On the other hand, Guinness goes in Limey, not in pie.

I cut my hair.

Okay, so first I tried to bleach the black out. I didn't want to use chem stripper, cause that shit wrecked my hair last time I did it. So I tried to bleach the shit out of it. I ended up with a f%&$ing rainbow of colors in my head.

So I cut it short. Because the roots looked a nice blonde.

Well, now I look like I have anti-frosted black tips, but otherwise it's not bad. Almost looks intentional. Almost...

And I forgot how f&!+ing good looking I was when I have a good cut. Long hair looks good when it finally gets like...two years' worth of long hair....but man, a quick cut and I'm up a point on the ten-point scale.

Maybe two. Maybe that's just the gym showing up. Before the gym I was also doing a 2.4 mile round-trip walk every day for a month or so, so...results may be a little earlier than your average gym, 'cause I been melting fat off slowly. Down to a 33 waist from a 36!

I am, however, so damn tired. Seriously. Just...

Like, stopping my motor scooter at 30mph made my pecs sore because today was chest day, and you'd be surprised the resistance that a just-over-200lb body gives when you hit the brakes suddenly on the way home from the gym.

I reiterate - I am one continuous sore muscle.

The problem with introducing an almost-five-year-old to the Hamilton soundtrack is that he then learns to imitate Lin-Manuel's "WHAAAT?!?" really well, and does so at every inappropriate moment he can, such as during quiet moments in church.

Does anyone have any suggestions for PlayStation 4 games for the kids.

No Lego games and we're already getting Minecraft.

I've been trying to lose weight for a long time... even though my efforts have not been entirely successful, at least I can outrun my BF...

I seriously wonder if I need to sign up for a personal trainer package - because I suspect I'm not pushing myself hard enough,or I've been eating too much. Or maybe a combination of both. I was trying to cut 130 lbs to 110 lbs..

I'm also 5'1,so yes I really do need to do something about it.

Captain yesterday - my BF said he'd want any kids we had to 'graduate' finishing the original prince of Persia before letting them play any other(more challenging) games. Like Dark Souls =p

But apparently the latest prince of Persia release is for PS3 only.

But seriously you do not want little kids playing Dark Souls or Bloodbourne series. It'll give them nightmares.

How about some plants V zombies 2? Sounds innocuous enough and anyone could use some training in strategy games.

Also try some Kingdom Hearts. All their favorite Disney characters and final fantasy characters(if they play) are there!

Witcher is a great series, but can be a little dark at times, not to mention you can fk with almost any female character you run into, should you go that route. And the gore when you critical hit. Awesome but yeah you get some fancy decapitations.

I think I'd rather recommend Final Fantasy series for them as opposed to Witcher.

I hope this doesn't come across wrong, but a 5'1, 130lbs package seems perfectly fine for a healthy young kitty...

Yea, I know its rich coming from a male (and a overwight, short one at that), but I'm just cautioning that you make a mountain out of a mole-hill.
We tend to be highly self-critical. Looking in the mirror, seems to make all the flaws jump out at us, and we feel worse then we should.
I guess what I'm saying is, that its really comendable that you want to look after yourself. Just don't drive yourself to tears or selfworth issues due to some inane beauty standard.

Asian standards are higher.

here

A BMI value of 23 and above indicates that your weight is outside of the healthy weight range for your height.

Mine is about 24...

I did manage to get to 120 lbs before, and probably 120 lbs is more realistic.

I also do know that these days a good part of me is muscle which weighs more then fats...

Thanks though, Kjeldorn =)

Ooh!

*pads over for cornbread*

See what I mean? =P

Also I will admit that during lunch I've been getting distracted and going to the crosstrainer so I can PBP as opposed to actually trying to push for a 20/30min run on treadmill.

Not to mention checking my PBPs every 2 laps I swim on weekends. That's why running with my BF is a good idea since I won't bring my handphone along with me(the weight really starts adding up when you start running longer distances. Besides carrying pouches or putting it in your pockets is so uncomfortable. (My phone is fairly large)

Still trying to get back my swim the breadth of an Olympic sized swimming pool in an single breath, underwater, but that's more for bragging rights =)

I'm only managing 3/4 of it at the moment.

I can also change one of these without any help...to consider that's nearly a 3rd of my weight. I mean I'm not the sort who would sit around and wait for people to help me...

Meh, my ex wife is 5'0", and she'd never get down to 110...probably 130 would be her at her optimum weight.

Too much T&A. Baby is packing major heat in both departments.

sigh

WELL, back to being divorced living in my brother's house and having no real prospects for the future. Thanks self, for that.

Anyway, my point is height/weight ratio is pretty much meaningless when you consider how vastly different everyone's figures are. I mean, my brother is taller than me, but weighs just about the same, because I'm broader of shoulder than him. Really, just grab yerself some calipers and test your fat percentage. IIRC healthy for a woman is something between 12-20%.

Usually if you want kids' games, you get a Nintendo.

I suggested plants vs Zombies and Kingdom hearts...

How old are they? I was assuming they're 5-7ish...

Sonic the hedgehog?

Pity Super Mario hasn't quite made it to PS4 yet...

I think Fallout is a bit Gore heavy for kids, but I may be too sensitive on that.

But Nintendo sucks.

I'll just have to wing it.

captain yesterday wrote:

Indeed. Because when they lost the majority of their third party support after the N64 came out and so many companies jumped ship for Sony, Nintendo decided to focus damnnear everything on their target demographic: kids.

It sucks because you're not a kid.

I think I’m about 33% fat or so (maybe I’ll go take a measurement later), but I just managed to make the normal muscle mass for all parts of my body. Used to be a little undermuscled for my arms.

Indeed, Mario is more well known among kids (or he was 20 years ago when the study was done) than Mickey Mouse.

Which...I guess is folks in their 30s now. Wow. Today's a real win for self-image depreciating realizations.

On another note, you could go the other direction and just let your kids get GTA V and let them learn on their own what the red paint on the knife really is. I mean my brother saw Terminator 2 like 270 times when he was like 4 years old.

Just kidding.

GTA V's controls are way too much of a pain for a kid. *mumbles about how there was too much running around without a car for how shitty the on-foot controls were*

I admit that I'm a corner case. I have a very limited palette of video games I enjoy - platformers (I prefer 2D or 2.5D, but have been known to play 3D platformers if they're not rage-inducing), old-school-style JRPGs, Zelda-style adventure/exploration (again, GREATLY prefer the top-down 2D style games, but Breath of the Wild looks like a zillion different kinds of fun), Metroidvanias, Pokemon, and the occasional puzzle game.

I'm pretty much a model Nintendo customer, as Sony and Microsoft provide very, very little of the kinds of games I actually like.

BMI is just a pretty terrible measurement tool all around, as it doesn't allow for any sort of variance of body type or anything.
