Young annoying cashier at work exclaimed after I helped a customer take four bags of sand out to their car about how heavy they were, so I said they weren't too bad. So he says "yeah, but you work out!"
He is now not my least favorite coworker.
Captain Yesterday fun fact: i've never even been to a gym. :-)
Edit: D'oh! Where's that oil from a few pages ago

I was recently responding to a PM where someone asked about my Eldest's current gaming situation.
Since nothing is more delightful than having parents gush needlessly over their children, and I haven't been updating you guys, I figure I'll copy/paste it here!
Enjoy!
(Or whatever!)
- 1) "Blue Rose, Red Rose, Green Rose, White Rose" - a heeeeaaaaavily modified variant of the Blue Rose campaign setting based off of stuff that happened in a game I was running solo-player for my wife. There is a small village ("Bri") that was created by my wife's character in the north eastern hinterlands of the main part of the world, for a few express purposes, and a <quasi NPC-turned-secondary PC> who ended up moving there from her previous home in a swamp to the west. That (n)PC* had a few aberrant creatures that were very dog-like, but had particular qualities about them, making them relatively powerful. Those "puppies" as they became known, ended up being the source of my Eldest's imagination, especially when combined with the Disney movie Bolt. There are something akin to a dozen of these things, which have lesser versions of the powers exhibited by the dog in that film. My Eldest plays "Bolt 1" and "Bolt 3" while he insists that my wife play "Bolt 2" and "Bolt 4" - a compromise that is sometimes held, but sometimes the wife chooses her (n)PC instead. I have a persistent unique NPC** (sort of) named "Hayu"*** with a subplot featuring his home and portals that may or may not be active to it. Mostly, though, this is used for various simple and fun (and sometimes bizarre, when the Eldest wants to control things) adventures for puppies (and sometimes a few human- or human-like characters, and sometimes an elephant) to wander around in.
* The (n) in this case stands for "neo" - obvious, right! XD
** Standard definition, for this one.
*** It is a nickname derived from "Hey! You!" that was often sent his way when he first arrived, as he didn't speak the language. Now it's just his name, even though he's learned the language.
- 2) Pi-radical! - a "pirate-themed" game in which the PCs play as shipfolk doing stuff. There is an adult game (run for my wife) and a kids game (run for my Eldest) which focus on entirely different people, and may or may not share canon hee-hee, dyslexic joke; my Eldest's character is named "Commodore 'Captain' Love" and he is in charge of the good ship One-Stack (a former pirate vessel with an exceptionally tall crow's nest) he managed to acquire from pirates who tried to raid him; he serves the English crown as a Privateer, but is really more like a normal merchant captain, only with guns. He'd previously been in charge of the passenger vessel Friendly, but gave that ship over to his previous first mate (an NPC) named "Captain 'First-Mate' McLarity"
- 3) Diamond the Butterfly - this is a game that's being run by my son; he wanted to try his hand at GMing, and so this is what we came up with. At first it started out surprisingly comprehensible, if simple: "Diamond" (a butterfly) was a mercenary "cargo carrier" who would carry other creatures' desired "cargo" - for a price. His first adventure involved making sure that a bee nest having some sort of problem (that was never actually resolved) ended up getting enough of a very rare pollen that they could continue to manufacture honey. In exchange, Diamond received quite a payment of royal jelly. The bees attempted to follow him to his safe house (they may have had entirely altruistic motives; I, the player, have no idea), but Diamond managed to avoid them and secured his royal jelly in safety. That's pretty much were normalcy stopped. Thereafter, it started going into Harvest Moon: Animal Parade territory, including saving the Witch, and recruiting help, and eventually turning into a werehuman (my word for it), and more. Speaking of HM:AP...
- 4) <RPG games based on video games> - there are a ton of these, though the two primary "worlds" that the games are set in belong to Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Super Mario Galaxy (both 1 and 2, though I think 1 is most preferred), with Pikmin being distantly behind (as he's seen it on PBG, but never played it). Still, things like Kirby's Epic Yarn, Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, and Super Smash Bros. BRAWL have all made debuts at various points. These are far and away the most common story games that he wants to play, and LoZ:WW is the most common of these.
- 5) The Pathfinder Beginner's Box - we played through the Beginner's Box first adventure, and he loooooooooved it! He named his character "One-Stack" (yes, like the boat), and chose a fan-art picture of Link from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as his image; Mommy ended up being the cleric (a follower of "Saint Serenrae" - i.e. Kyra with a different name); and my Youngest/Plush Luigi ended up playing the fighter (a massive super-buff boi named "Luui"). At my Eldest's insistence, I ended up with a character in addition to being GM, so I got the wizard (the only one left). We just left the stats mostly the same. We were suuuuuuper into this for a while, and came up with several adventures and elements for One-Stack et. al. to enjoy (including a unique adventure with a friendly gnoll er, "darknut"... yes... to reclaim his lost fortress and acquire the treasure of the green pearls! I had props and everything! (They were green bead necklaces.) It was pretty amazing!
The Youngest is only two; he can't really play yet. That said, at the time, we had a plush Luigi doll (he belongs to me; he is mine, not the kids; this is important, dang it!) that has a bit of a distinct personality and quirks, and it was decided by the Eldest that said doll should play a character, too. The Youngest was able to roll dice, though (well, for the most part), and so got to participate/work for the Luii character, while we each rolled for our own. So... yeah, I, as GM, was basically running half the party. XD
===========================
... and so that's where we're at today. There are a smattering of others - mostly one-shot games that I never wrote anything down about - but those are all the ones that actually have any sort of traction or persistent interest.

A Russian scientist and a Czech scientist had spent their whole lives studying the majestic grizzly bear and had collaborated numerous times via mail. One year their schedules allowed them to travel overseas, and as luck would have it they could do so at the same time. They immediately flew to America, landing in New York and then on west to Yellowstone.
They reported to the local ranger station but were informed that it was mating season in the U.S. and that it would be much too dangerous to go out and study the animals. Undaunted, they pointed out that this could well be their only chance. After much pleading, at last the ranger relented. The Russian and the Czech were given cell phones and told to report in each and every day.
For several days they called in, and then suddenly nothing was heard from the two scientists. Fearing the worst, and a potential international incident, the rangers mounted a search party and found their camp completely ravaged, with no sign of the missing men. The rangers followed the trail of a male and a female bear. They found the female but could not get near her, ultimately deciding they would need to kill the animal to find out if she had eaten the scientists.
They killed the female and cut open the bear's stomach. Sure enough, inside were the remains of the Russian.
One ranger turned to the other and said, "You know what this means, don't you?"
"Of course," the other ranger nodded. "The Czech is in the male."

I haven't or even tried. I know a few people who have but I'm unsure of what you would have to do.
What is the book about, Vid?
*Grabs notebook and pen to steal ideas*
I'm curious.
Its a Superhero RPG based heavily on the pathfinder rule set. Modern setting. My goal is to have them be completely compatible. To the point where you could even use the DnD classes with the super powers without a huge increase while still making it feel super powered.
Edit: (just to make kileanna proud afterthought 39 minutes later)
Its funny that you mention the notebook steal my ideas thing I feel I am being super paranoid about that. So I'm being super selective of who I allow to see it. Even though surely that in not a common thing that happens.

A fighter and a rogue are trapped when the cave they are exploring collapses. The rogue starts panicking and and looks through his belongings to see if anything will help. He asks the fighter "Will this 10' pole help?" The fighter shakes his head. "How about this lantern?" asks the rogue. "No," says the fighter. "I've got an abacus. Can that save us?" inquires the rogue. The fighter glares at him at growls "Don't count on it."

Actually you are doing the right thing. I have been stolen written projects a lot of times, always from people I trusted. I had to write a new 150 page project a week before I had to make the presentation because it was completely ripped off by a friend (who stopped being a friend after that).
Your idea seems great. Maybe trying to get some 3pp to publish it for you? I think it would see market. I'd be interested.

Yeah I was thinking igther a 3pp or maybe kick starter and see If can get it published myself. Altough that route seems like the hard one especially when your not entirely sure what your doing.

As most of you know, my best friend committed suicide at 26 (undiagnosed manic depressive). Few of you know that one of the major contributors to his suicide was "M", one of those sleazy enabler types who thinks that every bad idea is "cool".
He was my friend's roommate, and went so far as to sign a suicide pact with him, encourage him to keep a bowl a sleeping pills by his bedside "just in case you decide to end it", and otherwise acted like suicide would be the "coolest thing ever".
And of course when my friend finally went through with it, M didn't.So last night at Impus Major's variety show, M showed up, drunk as a skunk, seeing me for the first time since my friend's death, and acted like we were best buds.
I did not hospitalize him.
For this I am proud.
wow.
Not sure what i would have done.
In Poland, deliberately compelling someone to commit a suicide attempt or aiding in suicide attempt is a crime (even if the victim survived).

Well, I am paranoid about Kileanna reading my mind and discovering the secret plot twists of my stories.
It has happened. A lot of times.
Now I force myself to not overthink about my plots when in front of her. What can I say? It works!
Note to self guard thoughts when around kileanna. Does she ever try to eat your brain? because If so I may have a theory.

No, Poland does not criminalize suicide nor suicide attempt - at worst for the person attempting suicide it can be basis for compulsory psychiatric examination and treatment.
Providing euthanasia for someone who requested it and accidental manslaughter carry the same penalty range of 3 months to 5 years of jail as compelling to/aiding in suicide.

That is good cause I feel like it could get real complicated if the person attempting suicide was tried. Then they attempt and succeed and you could argue the court was the cause then it really just takes off from there.
I remember hearing about a case or something where a guys girlfriend encouraged him to commit suicide. I lost track of it but she definitely deserved murder charges.

Kileanna thinks that she is feeding on me. Actually, I am infesting her.
Soon, there will be another Hellwasp Swarm. And then we will infest two hosts at one. And then four. And then...
But don't think about it in front of Kileanna. She must not discover us before our time comes.
Damned telepathy!
You do both know that the other one can see your posts right? >.>
