Sorry about your cat, taig. :(

Edit: well....that's one way to offer comfort I guess.... :S

Glad the move was successfully accomplished, Scint.

Kidlet is being a little angel today. This is....unexpected. But not unappreciated.

Yay for angelic behavior that provides parental relief!

Good luck with the test, Spanky.

+1 (And apologies for not commenting earlier!)

My dad was arguing that the mother of a friend couldn't possibly be as old as she (likely) is.

He was basing this on his perception of time.

As my Mom pointed out, this was a bad basis. He was nearly 30 when they met, and is nearly 70 now. Yeah... time for a reality check, Dad.

"She couldn't possibly be nearly 50."

"Dad! Her son is MY AGE. Think about it." (I'm 33.)

It's Tuesday. Worse yet, it's shaping up to be one of THOSE Tuesdays. I have too much homework to finish to be able to escape the house and avoid the drama.

Here's to holding tempers, holding tongues, and speaking calmly when needed.

Good luck! I hate drama.
+1

So far, the drama died down. Praying it continues this way.

Taig, sorry for the loss of your cat. Best wishes in your grieving. It had a good life because of you.

This essay is headache-inducing.

Thanks for the condolences and kind words, everyone.

Remember that the Devil is a fallen angel...

Yesterday workday was tedious and boring. More than usually, that is.

I think that all those phones stored in dispatch area warp the space-time continuum...

Late dispatch to Taig. Sorry to hear about the cat. 13 is a long time. Ill be in the same boat very soon. I have a 13 year old dog in bad shape and sadly, he'll be gone soon. Think of the best times and give a new deserving pet a good home.

So I just finished watching Sex and the City with my wife yesterday. We are going to watch the movies today but honestly I think the show ended pretty well, don't really see the need they had to expand on it much.

Just saw this. Sorry for your loss. It always sucks to lose a pet, as they truly are family members.

Thanks, BP and Aberzombie.

Now we're off to a Key West for a wedding. It's been a crazy week.

I queued up a monster for Friday midnight EDT, so you'll still be getting a monster this week. I'm trying to be more consistent with the feature.

The good news is, town's small enough that I can bike to most places with little trouble, at least in good weather.

Bad news. I'm not used to riding bikes, and the apartment complex doesn't have a bike rack.

The butt-hurt disappears quite fast.

You don't look like the faceless old woman.

the muscles take time to build, I know. Watch for charliehorses, they can be a killer if you arent used to stretching your legs that far. Adjust your seat height as best as possible until you find a level of leg extension that works for you.

Yes, you did, and it makes no sense to me how an entirely audio-based medium can spawn an almost entirely visual show with the only descriptions ever given of the main characters being entirely unhelpful.

He is my close personal friend. Also a good friend of one of my players in my Darklight Sisterhood game. He flirted with her mom so bad...

Rawr, my condolences.

And I'm currently on the mend. Will reply to everyone tomorrow.

Long and short of it: I'm not sure I want to be at the school I visited. I hear they may use social promotion to advance students through the math programs (i.e. nobody can fail). Also, I was really hoping to teach at either my alma mater or the school I did my student teaching at. This school happens to be at the opposite end of town, almost a 30 minute drive. (Considering most places are only 15 minutes, it's a far drive.)

It's not my last choice, but it's close.

Time to investigate whether there may be openings at the other schools for January.

Evening, all. What did I miss?

This is supposed to be a slow time at work, but things are not slowing down the way they should.

What's happening?

Silver Crusade

At work? Lots of little, random crap. Nothing catastrophic. It just seems like people are going full speed ahead through the summer months, which is unusual in my industry.

There will be overtime on Saturday.

I need new shoes for work...

Ugh, social promotion. We do things like this and then wonder why our graduates aren't at the level we want them to be.

Math is one subject that it just DOES NOT WORK in any way. If you don't understand the prior class/theories, you'll only get more lost in the harder ones.

A guy at my game last night had an interesting story to share. He got fired from a large farm supply company last year. He said his boss hated him for not kissing his ass, while his underlings hated him for making them work instead of sitting on their asses all day. So when end of season inventory showed 50 bags of seed were missing, he got blamed for it and was canned. A friend who still works there called him last night and said that they just did an inventory last week and the following items are missing/unaccounted for:

700 bags of seed corn (worth $280k-$300k)
400 bags of seed soybean (worth $200k)
20 pallets of insecticide (50 units per pallet, didn't specify worth)

No one knows where any of this stuff got off too. Several people remember loading the insecticide into trucks, but there is no paperwork to show where it went or if anyone paid for it. Same goes for all the seed. Don't know who has it or if they paid. Over a half-million dollars of inventory just gone.

He was laughing his ass off all night.

Wooooooooooow. Someone over there is running quite the shell game.

About 13 years ago, a little while after we lost our Siamese cat, Blue, my wife and I went to the animal shelter and picked out two cats. We took our (at the time) young children to the shelter to see the cats, and they ended up choosing two entirely different cats, and those two cats went home with us instead, of course. One of the cats, Wolfie, was a gentle and loving kitty, and she had a pretty good life with us I think.

Today we had to put her to sleep because of congestive heart failure.

Goodbye, Wolfie. May your travels take you someplace sunny and warm.

Condolences on the loss of Wolfie. Sounds like she had a good and happy life, and brought lots of happiness to your little ones too. Such memories are a worthy testament to a life well lived.
