Silver Crusade

At the end of the day she gets a candied apple, brings it home and eats it the next day

Silver Crusade

I do not possess that kind of willpower

Silver Crusade

I get a candied apple, I am eating it right away

I'm glad the BonChonning went well!

Saving a candied apple? That takes too much willpower.

Apparently no one pays attention anymore. :P

It's too expensive so I don't pay for it anymore... But I can offer my attention for a small-small fee.

Watched Hunger Games. Interesting but I feel that it lacks a degree of smoothness and character development. I will probably read the book one day.

The end music was really great...

Huh. I was supposed to write a short blog post about success of Magia i Miecz crowdfunding.

*yawn* time to sleep...

Sleep well, Drejk!

Silver Crusade

I am home with a belly full of BonChon and Bul-go-gi. Man that was tasty/ The wife has her candied apple in the fridge, all is well!

Welcome, brother.
WELCOME TO THE UNENDING GLORY THAT IS BONCHON!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get the feeling I am quickly becoming the only one here who has not experienced BonChon.

Silver Crusade

BonChon is an elusive creature, for me it is about a 50 minute drive on the freeway, so it is not readily accessible....which makes me want it even more.

I haven't either. Of course, I'm not a big fan of fried chicken or oriental food, so I doubt I'd be in too big of a hurry to try it. Especially since it appears the closest one is over 700 miles away.

Last week was a bad one for cars in my family. I had a tire that was losing air, so I took it in to get looked at. I was hoping it just had a nail or something that could be quickly (and cheaply) patched, but instead it had an impact bubble and had to be replaced. So, that was $90 out the window. Then, I found out that my Dad had been in an accident and the insurance company totaled the car. My folks didn't think the damage looked that bad, but apparently it was bad enough for the adjuster to say "pay them off" rather than fix it. So now they have to go car shopping. My Mom loves car shopping (or any shopping, for that matter), but my Dad absolutely hates it.

According to everything I've found, the nearest BonChon is only a 36-hour drive. Assuming I'm speeding the entire time, don't rest at all, and see no traffic, stop lights, or toll booths.

Happy post Solstice FAWTL !

Excellent home preserving aeglos! I hope the wee babe is doing well

I just watered my tomatoes. They are looking vibrant, and one overachiever has fruit the size of golf balls already. My dahlias are already blooming, which is nice. Alas, today I shall have to once again Sally forth with my impliments of mass destruction and chastise my rebellious lawn. I swear it rebels more than a Galt mob that raided a liquor store.

Hope all is well, and game on!

Not the only one.

BonChon is very much becoming like slogging through ASoIaF/GoT/EVERYONE YOU LOVE DIES IN GRAPHIC DETAIL for me. The more people tell me I absolutely must, the less inclined I am to listen.

there's a bubble tea place down the street. I could take you there instead.

Scarab Sages

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Sunday! It's another bright, sunshiny day here in the great state of Texas. In a little while I shall take the boy to get a much needed haircut. Other than that, some laundry. And maybe I'll run to Lowes and Walmart.

Scarab Sages

The wife just left me here with the kids while she runs over to Kroger. From her tone, I think she might be thinking it's some kind of punishment for me.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.......

Scarab Sages

I love hanging wih my kids. Baby girl is a sweety, and the boy knows better than to misbehave with me.

Plus, I've just introduced him to Star Wars via some Lego Cartoon - new Yoda Chronicles, or something.

Later on, I'll find my old Darth Vader light saber and give it to the boy to play with.

Good luck on putting down the lawn rebellion. That seems to never end.

It'll be replaced by something else in two years ^.^

Quite a ways away for me as well. Nearest one is in far-north Virginia. My family is heading to WEST Virginia today, but I'm not going with.

That said, I am not an amazingly huge chicken fan; I tend to prefer beef or steak. Given a choice of places to go if I'm going to pay to have someone else fix food for me, I'll go for Italian, Mexican, or Indian first (though I have to admit, tandoori chicken is really good). The Asian places I really like tend to be hibachi type places, or places like Pei Wei or P.F. Chang's.

the idea was to mellow the sourness (is that a word?) of the redcurrants with some over-ripe peaches we had left

on the Chicken discussion:

the traditional German way to eat chicken is "Brathähnchen" in Bavaria called "Hendl" and "Broiler" in East-Germany:
a chicken minus entrails, neck. head and feet gets spiced on the skin and grilled on a rotisserie, when done and crispy it gets cut in half and sold that way, you eat your chicken half without cutlery with your hands

when you finally all come visit me we will go tothe "Brathähnchenfarm" a chicken farm with restaurant out in the woods,

they roast the chicken in the middle of the seating area on a big wood fire on cast iron "lances" and serve them with home made apple sauce and freshly backed bread

I'm inclined to agree with you, but then again, at this point it sounds like divine ambrosia when compared with my current diet of "anything that comes in a can for under $2."

Or anything beyond the four basic cheap food groups: canned, beans & rice/lentils/ramen, eggs, or cheap lunchmeats (now with 20% more mystery in the meat). I actively disbelieve that BonChon or In-and-Out burgers even exist.

When I checked my local restaurant guide, it said the nearest BonChon is in New York. That's not a short drive from here.

I tend to go for Chinese or burgers. Too many places make overly greasy chicken, Mexican, Indian, or otherwise.

It's a word ^.^

And I hope it worked. It would be sucky if it only made the sourness worse.

And some days, even the cans are too expensive.

Well I see the nearest Bonchon is 211 miles north of me in Dallas. Guess I won't be eating there today. I'll add it to the bucket list.

Speaking from experience, when I stayed in Los Angeles for two weeks last year, In-N-Out Burger is ridiculously cheap for the amount of food you get. I think I ate there almost every day, and never spent more than four or five bucks.

Yeah... Nearest one to me is in Northvale, New Jersey, which is about a four-hour drive. Of course, two of the players in my PF group drive an hour to Binghamton, NY to get Sonic before every game, so what do I know.

In-N-Out is great. Second best fast-food burger I've ever had.

Five Guys is better, but only by a small margin. Eating at either place is about the same price for our family.

Has anyone tried Logan's Steakhouse? They're pretty good, for a cheap steakhouse. Just can't get them to understand the word "plain" where steakburgers are concerned.

Oh, I'm about to go back on the old college diet of cheap plz. I'm going to have to spend so much money on furnishing the stupid place before school starts...
