Math test went well-ish. Some of the folks came back to class. We only lost four not six people for a total of eight left. The instructor may be back next week. We'll see. I think the class will be in open revolt if he doesn't show, and possibly even if he does. Nobody is really happy about how the situation was handled by the college.
What happened to, mlady? Has math and it's unending evil struck again?

The prof hurt his back and has been out for a month+. We've had rotating subs some of the time but not necessarily for the whole class period and they don't have access to lesson plans or other materials. Basically we've been stuck trying to teach ourselves calculus. :/

And thanks to the time sink that this has become I am now also hopelessly behind in my other classes as well.

Digesting dinner naked? No problem.

Wow, yeah, that's when you start screaming. You pay a LOT of money per class, and if they're not delivering, you should at least get to take the course again at no charge - and should probably get some sort of refund.

At the very least they should refund our contact hour fee. Not that I'm holding my breath. That's what should happen, not what will.

I hate college bs as well as math. I will gladly go to town on this professor as well as the bursars if yo wish.

Grrrr - in order to take Friday off, I need to basically work for the next 24 hours straight to get everything done before taking said day off. Boy I need a vacation...

Good news. Orientation was a blast today. I'll be starting my new job as a security officer in a week and a half weeks for Allied Barton.

Wahoo!

Ah, in the middle of class now. Doing crunch on a character while I half-listen to the lecture.

You've been telling them stories from the history of the labour movement class, haven't you? ;)

Best conversation ever with my roommate:

Me: "You know, I just realized that I know four openly schizophrenic people, and they all have extensive record collections. You think there's any sort of correlation between the two?"

Roommate: Long pause. "Well... don't date a chick who collects records?"

that's awesome. One of my best friends works for allied Barton. What's your beat?

Don't know yet, but it will be either one of the mills in East Chicago or Burns Harbor for Mittel. Good gig from what my friend has told me. We're going to check out the sites tomorrow or Friday.

I just received an e-mail inviting me for a job interview on Monday. I'd name it a positive beginning of the day.

Scarab Sages

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Thursday! I hope everyone has a spectacular day!

Scarab Sages

I hate buses.

Scarab Sages

More so than I hate taxis.

Scarab Sages

Buses drivers here in Philly are absolute lunatics. I've seen them do things that scared even me.

Scarab Sages

shakes fist at the sky

Damn you cold weather!!!! We don't want you around here!

Scarab Sages

No, it's not that cold yet. I just figured I'd get a head start.

Scarab Sages

Also: traffics sucks ass.

I'm telling you, if the universe wised up and put me in charge of who gets a drivers liscence, things would run a lot smoother.

Scarab Sages

Last night's episode of Supernatural was hurting. I think we're definitely seeing the last season in play.

Scarab Sages

Or, as I like to call it: the show that Grim ripped off from!

Scarab Sages

We now pause for a short break.

Scarab Sages

Short break over.

Scarab Sages

I think I like Phil Collins better when he's with Genesis.

Scarab Sages

Crap cakes on fire! My wife actually just passed a big truck! Will wonders never cease!

Scarab Sages

They're building a new hotel on the old Navy base where I work. This is a good thing. It'll have a restaurant, which means another place to eat lunch.

Scarab Sages

Hopefully it'll also lead to even more development, which'll mean even more restaurants and other associated thingses!

Scarab Sages

Gonna be a cloudy day it seems. Bummer. I like sunlight.

Scarab Sages

Almost at work. Back in a bit.

Scarab Sages

Boo and Yah!

Scarab Sages

So, part of our morning ritual is that we get to the work, walk in the building, and part at the stairwell (I work upstairs, the wife works downstairs). As we part, I usually give the wife a kiss on the cheek.

This morning, after the kiss, I start walking up the stairs and some dude I don't know says:

"Where's my kiss?"

Right there, I knew it was going to be a weird day.

Scarab Sages

But, I've had my first cup of coffee, and my Grandma's Mini Sandwich Cremes (Vanilla), so I'm pretty well set.

Day two of orientation and training. Wish me luck and positive waves.

Scarab Sages

At least that wasn't TotP. That would have been....awkward.

Scarab Sages

If I recall correctly, my buddy works for Allied Barton as well. Here in Philly, though.

Scarab Sages

Sometimes, I can't help but think the younger guys working with me are a bunch of smarmy little bastards.

Scarab Sages

Used to be we could joke about workplace violence. Hell, I used to joke around that I'd never come to work with a gun, that I'd go old-school and use an axe.

Can't do that anymore really. Too much of that s*+& turns real and real bad.

Scarab Sages

Meh, I still like to joke about stuff. It drives my boss crazy, but that's how I keep my stress levels down.
