Our contractor was talking about his $70,000 truck, and his $12,000 shotgun, and his $8,000 levels, and this, and that, and the other thing.
And I started wondering, "Hmm... what's the most valuable thing I own?" Other than the house, of course, because stupid Bay Area real estate. And the answer is likely the Prius, with a Kelly Blue Book value of $1951. We don't have jewelry, furs, gold, gems, or china. We don't keep a bunch of cash in the house. We don't have priceless antique furniture. And so it is that nothing I own is worth even $2000.
And I'm totally OK with that.
Guess I'll lose my membership card to Conspicuous Consumerism R Us, but considering our economic level I found it intriguing that we really don't own anything of much value.
The saddest part? The *one* thing that would have topped $2000 was GothBard's grandmother's wedding ring, which was bequeathed to GothBard in her will, but was stolen off her finger at the hospital when she went in for the final time.
Dude.
GothBard's makeup collection, even used, is worth more than your car.
Wait...People buy used makeup?

Pawn shop, no. Thrift store, not in a very long time. And in either case I wouldn't have been looking for makeup.

Oh, and it hasn't been quite as long as I thought it had since I've been to a thrift shop. I was thinking it was about 20 years, but it turns out it has only been around 10 years. My brother was looking for a computer desk, and I happened to be with him, so we went to Goodwill and the Salvation Army. Neither of them had anything that interested him. I think we spent about 3 minutes in the first one, and maybe 10 in the second.

I think I have maybe 15 games from the XBOX 360 through the XBOX 1. A couple were gifts that I hardly ever played (My brother got me a FIFA game because he wanted to play it. I played a bit, but not much. Mainly only if we went head-to-head.). I suppose it's technically more than that, since I am only counting the Halo Master Chief Collection as one game. I should probably play that some more. I beat Halo 1 and 2, and started 3. But I don't really like FPS games, so I got bored and quit.
FIFA something or other
Prey (the original, not the remake. It made me motion sick so I quit playing)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (technically an original XBOX game, but it ran on the 360 and I think on the XBONE)
Chromehounds
Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed 2
Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Elder Scrolls Skyrim (twice. once for the 360, then a digital copy with al the expansions for the XBONE)
Minecraft
Stardew Valley
Halo Master Chief Collection
Burger King Pocket Bike Racers (my parents got it for me as a joke, but it was actually a decent little Mario Kart type game)
I think there are 1 or 2 more that I can't remember. I could look when I get home, but I doubt any of you (or me, for that matter) care enough to make it worth the time.

My furniture:
A couple of folding tables, some I bought a long time ago, some I inherited from my folks.
A coffee table I inherited from my brother.
A entertainment center I inherited from my brother.
A microwave cart I got from my folks.
A small dresser (3 drawers) I've had since middle school.
A couple of folding chairs.
A desk chair.
A food pantry (basically a small bookcase with doors) that I got from my folks.
A couch I bought at Furniture Row.
A bed I bought at Furniture Row.
8 or 9 bookcases I mostly bought at Walmart.
I think that's it.

I forgot fall out 4 I have played also god of war, ratchet and clank, overwatch, far cry, battlefront, kingmaker, a little control and titan fall 2 from captain's list.
Did you play the newer reboot of God of War (that came out a couple of years ago) or the old school version?
If you haven't played the new one I highly recommend it.

Old school but the new one is on my list.

Fallout 3 holds a special place in my heart, it was the first Fallout game I got and I had an absolute blast! Especially weaponizing industrial tools in The Pitt.
As far as story goes I will agree with everyone that Fallout New Vegas is the best Fallout, especially the beginning when it pans out from the strip and then when you're left for dead. Best video game intro ever.

It's part of the greatest hits collection that are only 20 now, which is why I got it.
Fair warning, if you play it enough you'll start calling everyone "boy" in a gruff voice.

I tried playing Kingmaker, once.
I made my character, went through all the options and then when I got to my first fight it hung up and I was forced to do it ALL over again. I did not.
I'm not 100% satisfied with Kingmaker. Did NOT like the timer aspect of the first part of the game, and pointed out how foolish it was to have something like that in an EXPLORATION BASED GAME FOR GODS SAKE, and had a game where time would run out for me literally ONE MOVEMENT SPACE away from the supposed goal. There were so many issues with sleeping/resting and healing it wasn't funny. May just uninstall and not look back.

Oh, I f@%~ing hate timers! I thought they stopped putting those in video games that didn't involve racing, football, or basketball.
And yes, it's absolutely ridiculous for a supposed open world exploration rpg to have one.
