So I've complained about Albany Unified School District's response to the coronavirus before, but here's a brief summary:
(1) Our superintendent seriously said, "We're not going to close any schools until someone tests positive at that school."
I expect our superintendent to have at least a high-school level of understanding of biology. Apparently ours doesn't.
(2) We were promised that each teacher would provide two online 45-minute "classes" per week, just to give the kids some structure and the ability to keep in touch with their teachers. Only 2 of Impus Minor's 7 teachers are hitting even this low bar. 3 more are holding optional "office hours", but 2 of them have just vanished and are holding neither classes nor office hours.
(3) The teachers have embraced an, "All days run together for me," approach, so assignments are due on weekends, during breaks, or whenever the teacher feels like it. On Sunday we had to cut our Shattered Star game short because Impus Minor had homework due that day.
(4) His chemistry teacher is completely MIA. He sent out one email at the start: "You already have all your assignments for the semester. Just do them."
He's been gone since then.
Am not impressed.

the days are starting to blend for me as well. It's frustrating, but my day job does NOT mesh well with working from home. The second job does, very well, but naturally my aspect of the job is not up and running right now.

That's kind of my point -- for the kids, they're in this really weird pseudospace where it's like summer vacation, except somehow work appears that they're supposed to find out about and do without getting any notice that it's there.
I expect the teachers to be providing some structure to the kids' lives. "It's Monday. You have history, English, and choir. The teachers meet with the class for 15-20 minutes and say, "OK, here's what I expect you to work on this week. Here's where you can get the assignments. Here's when it's due."
I just don't think that's an excessive ask from me.

It's not. We had a 2-week lull wherein we were scrambling to get that together for our district/contacting kids for internet access needs, but my district quickly established "English/social studies post an assignment Monday and Wednesday; math/science post on Tuesday and Thursday; electives post an assignment once each week. Grab a block of time on these days to be available for office hours on Hangouts or by email if the kids have questions."
If my rural district with fewer resources can figure it out and still get our tech-averse faculty to check in for bi-weekly meetings with our homerooms to make sure the kids are okay, I have no idea what Albany's deal is. I can make some allowances for the fact that we definitely had fewer kids to wrangle, but still.
I question a lot of my district's choices on a lot of things, but I think we're doing pretty okay compared to some on this mess.

~looks up and to my right at my book case~ Stephen R. Donaldson's The Mirror of her dreams and A man rides through? Yeah, his books are not for everyone.
OTOH I did enjoy it, despite the books being only average. Of course I might also have rather low standards too, so that might help.

So.
My office has had to bring in bottles of hand soap because we're going thru it far faster than we usually do and need to keep up with demand until the next scheduled maintenance and refill for the built in dispensers in the office restrooms.
This tells me a LOT of my co-workers have APPARENTLY NOT BEEN WASHING THEIR FHTAGNING HANDS AFTER NORMAL BATHROOM USE UNTIL A GL'BYOLYB PANDEMIC PROMPTED THEM TO CHANGE HABITS.

So, I made a post, and then I deleted it as political, but then you asked.
Our legislators, from our county supervisors up through our governor and including our (California's) congress, have been utterly fricking amazing throughout this pandemic.
I spoke vociferously against Gavin Newsom. I voted against him.
I'll be voting FOR him in 2022 solely because of his handling of this crisis.
I, for one, am amazed at what my representatives have done in California.
(And yes, Newsom already announced that even if everyone else is re-opening, California isn't ready to do so yet, protesters be d**ned.)

Don't even get me started.
I go to high-end restaurants.
I see men in business suits, perfect coifs, and whatnot, go into the restroom, do a #2, and return to the fricking dining table without washing their hands.
There's a reason I don't shake people's hands any more... and that was before the pandemic.

Once things play out, I may.
The problem is the repercussions.
I contacted my state representative about an issue and how I felt it should be approached and resolved. Instead of any reasonable response from a human being, I was simply added to her mailing list and got a daily spam mail telling me how great she was.
It took me 3 "unsubscribes" to get off her immediate email list, but she's still sending me spam snail mail.
I don't want to be part of your cheerleading squad. I just want to let you know ways I think you can improve our state.

If I've learned anything about how we think and reason, there is no "just the facts" -- every fact that anyone has any interest in talking about has some emotional and moral context, and that's just a fact. ;)
We can and should be civil, and there are always degrees, but I don't see the point in ignoring Human nature.

Well, there's even how we express ourselves.
You took offense when I used metaphor to describe 4e ("It's a video game turned into a tabletop game" or something similar). So, *I* accepted that people reading my post would accept my statement as metaphor. *You* read my post as an attempt to state fact.
So even simple things like writing down an idea can have different meanings based on who's reading them. I was expressing *MY* distaste for the game and didn't intend for my statement to extend beyond my opinion. Your read was that I was disparaging anyone who liked 4e.
VERY different intent and reading.
EDIT: I mean, I doubt anyone who describes a video game as "garbage" actually proceeds to throw out the game...
