Well this hasn't been a great night so far. Got in the car to come to work, it wouldn't start. Had to call a tow truck for a jump, pay $70. Hopefully it starts in the morning (I let it run for about 20 minutes after I got to work), so I can take it to get tested. With my luck that means I'll need to buy a new battery. No idea why it was low on charge. I hadn't left any lights on or anything. Then I finally get to work and check the schedule for the week. I was supposed to be taking some vacation time next weekend, I put in for it over 6 weeks ago, but find that not only do I not get the time off, but they have screwed with my normal schedule. Which means that I won't get to go with my parents on our annual trip for Dad's birthday, but that all my other plans for the week are screwed.

Whee.

Acks. That really s*cks >< I feel sorry for you. Anyone to complain to?

Sure. I could complain to the manager or the assistant manager, but since they're the ones who f%$*ed me in the first place, it's unlikely to help.

That's really cool, Woran. It's good for company bonding. I think Spartan is more hard core and my company ain't crazy enough to do it. Also my company has older peeps, I'm the youngest there. My fitness buddies though... One of them already went for Spartan and there are talks going around.

Mudmasters training plan suggestion

I don't do off track running so yeah not sure how it'd go, but I know I lack upper body strength(you did hear me whine about my pull up right?)

Also I can't do monkey bars for nuts. All that rock climbing has made me more confident about getting over obstacles - you heard me about the road divider yesterday, right?

I'm going to focus on getting my running stamina back first. Being able to run some distance will help me to keep warm between obstacles.

Strength wise, we'll have to see. Ive always been more of an endurance person that speed/strength.
For example, whenever there is an ingress event, I can walk on average 15 kilometers with no prior exercise (Im a couch potato).

I'll add in some strength training too, probably some body weight exercises and we have a kettle-bell around here somewhere.

The Exchange

I'm also more endurance base-ish sort. I ever did 40 km hike in a day before. Which means yesterday shouldn't have been that tiring, but again I don't usually run while carrying that much load(1 kg ish?) under the noonday sun on beaches and also it was not properly aligned(sling bag that kept slapping against me). Though the hard part for the day was grabbing 2 bags of maybe 500 g of stuff in them in each hand, then running with it at a decent pace because me and my fitness buddy were trying to hustle to the game stations before they closed. It was hard on him as well because he just broke the burpees and mountain climbers record so he was also already tired.

I was tired because I was chasing the Spartans on foot, up a hill, carrying a sling bag earlier, then running to all the game stations from tanjong beach to siloso beach before returning to palawan beach. (5.6 km)

Push up guys style with elbows tucked close to your body is hard...I can only manage 6 before I go flat.

The Exchange

Anyway... Here's some pics:

My first non auto belay up an easy wall

Yes I know I was rather sloppy on the footwork as I just pulled myself up since I could...

Another wall conquered!

Wall in perspective

I also did purple route up, brown route up for 2 walls I had gotten up earlier - the route difficulty is 5c. And managed my first successful climb down the easiest wall(though I admit I took the easy option of rainbow route up).

I told you about my oven hinge being spoilt, so I made terriyaki chicken pizza in a pan. Bottom got a little burnt but I think I need to turn the pizza dough every 3 min.

Spending the entire day at the SMU auditorium, drowning in cute. Dress rehearsals all day, and both of the kids ballet performances are tonight.
It was great that the ballet company split all the classes into two different shows. But Val is in one and Hermione is in the other.

The chicken terriyaki pizza - I found the dough too hard and too thick. I finally tracked down the oven supplier so I'll pay them to go fix the oven ($200).

Pop in for the earlier one, leave during intermission for the other? If the venues are close by? Otherwise draw lots and see which one you go to, which one whingey wizard goes to.

I hope that everyone is having a better time than I am.

Yes, I'm sure I am. Sorry for the times you are currently living through, Sharoth.

Saw Endgame twice (decent dinner and then the movie with Aiymi on Friday, then saw it again with Zelda on Saturday afternoon and a fantastic dinner afterwards).

Since Beltane is May 1st, and Zelda is an openly practicing Pagan and is a local event coordinator for the Pagan community, I was helping her get ready for her Beltane ritual she scheduled for this afternoon for the area Pagans.

Unfortunately, after we got the large, heavy, wooden post that we got for her Maypole up on the roof rack of her car, she clocked herself in the head on it - walked right into it - and gave herself a mild concussion.

I got all the Beltane ritual supplies out to the location and we lined up someone else to lead it for her, and then I got her to the ER as a precaution. Head CT scan was clean, but she has all the classic symptoms of a mild concussion. She's going to be fine, but concussions really suck.

Personally I've had seven of them. I wish one on very few people.

I am sorry about Zelda's head injury. I am glad that it wasn't too bad. Did it knock some sense into or out of her head?

Once this is over, one way or another, I am going to Fort McAllister State Park and spend the day there, probably in tears the while time. I would prefer to go to Providence Canyon State Park or High Falls State Park but I doubt I can take the time.

It didn't hurt her cognitive abilities as much as concussions usually do. But yeah, the headache moved from the point of impact to the base of her skull, her vision was fuzzy, nausea, quick to get motion sickness, neck pain, the whole ball of wax aside from vomiting - her nausea never got to the point of vomiting, but that's not unusual for her.

Poor thing. I hope that she is better now.

I consider that a great plan. When my dad died last November, I gave the eulogy. I posted that on here, which helped me have the courage to actually say it in front of my family. But afterwards, on the way back home with Aiymi and Zelda, I took my printed copy that I read out loud to Moraine View State Park, where Dad took me as a kid, and I burned it on the shore of the lake. Purity of the moment.

You take that trip to the state park of your choice. You take however long you can there. Of course nothing will heal you as well as time will, but spending the immediate time in nature will do more than you even realize.

Sharoth wrote:

Time will help. It's not going to be just a few hours and she's fine kind of thing. Even mild or borderline concussions can have symptoms for days or weeks.
