Oh! So you're not concerned over the legality of eating a (presumes) human like me or Vidmaster7, but once we talk about eating a kitty suddenly it's "Oh noes! That's dislegal!!"!

you have to at least give the fact that she knows american laws one eating cats better then we do as american citizens

Gran is certainly a picky customer...he not only wants to pick the style, he wants to pick the sauce as well.
*shakes head*
Hey, if I'm being eaten then I think I should get a say in how.
And I don't take chicken fried steaks. More of a grilled chicken person, except for wings, which I'll take fried.
Chicken fried steak is beef, not chicken.
And no, Cover Turtle has not been doing anything to anyone, whereas YOU decided to talk about thinking of hunting and cooking another FAWTLer. What goes around comes around =)
Technically I only said that we were going to discuss eating him tomorrow. There is a good chance that conversation never would have actually happened.

Nah, she just used google. Seems like everyone does that but you. And me. I just know things. That what I do. I talk about eating fellow sentients, and I know things.

The law on this:
In the United States, there are no laws against cannibalism per se, but most, if not all, states have enacted laws that indirectly make it impossible to legally obtain and consume the body matter
It's generally considered to be desecration of a corpse. But, that only applies if he is dead when we eat him.

It's still fried and I rather not get fried steaks. Grilled please.
Fine. We'll grill some steaks from him. Make KC style BBQ from his ribs. You can use some meat, maybe from the arm?, to make your weird Chinese food stuff. We can make hams from his thighs. His calves can be made into fried nuggets. We can make bacon from his belly. We'll turn his back into loin roasts. His head can be used to make head cheese. And the various leftover bits can be made into sausages.
That okay with everyone?

gran rey de los mono |
I can make them fresh useing cube steak and make them in a way that I like them otherwise I'm kind of meh about em.
I usually take a round roast, cut it into 1/4" or so slices, pound those out with a mallet, and then bread and fry them. I have made them with ground beef before but they don't always stay together too well.

Still not as good as the marinating then burying you in banana leafs idea.

So first day at the breeders.
Meet at 8, grooming, watering, feeding and caring for the horses, and now its 11.30 and all we need to is clean the stable and we're done for today...
So 3-4 hours work (down from roughly 6) a day for a roughly -15% pay cut?! You know that's really not that bad of a deal...

It's lullish...though I'm also only looking after around 2/3 (11 "adults" and 3 foals) as many horses as at my last place of employment, so I actually doubt that the days are going to get a lot more hectic.
The other groomers? The dregs and refuse of society. (former) Alcoholics, people diagnosed with various mental problems, people with disabilities and the like (me included)...
Its all those who doesn't or can't fit in the regular job market...
But what do I care about social acceptability and 'fitting in' with the norm? They seem like decent (but weird) people, so we'll in all probability get along fine.
Edit: I might sound harsh or weird above, but its because its really stark at times...the amount of 'atypical' people in my vocation is huge. A groomer in a stable seems to either be a boy/girl in the 12-16 year range or a 20+ year old male/female (slightly more males in my anecdotal experience) from one of the groups above…
I actually understand a bit of why, since working with animals is therapeutic. Its a job that's mostly free of stress factors such as deadlines, fast pacing or constant having to be 'on'...
It really is, for the lack of a better term, a 'peaceful' job.

OK. Balut report: Just like any hard boiled egg yolk except it was a little fishy since it was from a duck egg. The embryo was a little fishier then then the rest of the egg, but the small feathers surprisingly were not like fibrous and was actually edible. There was no white and the juices in the egg were saltier then your standard egg and a bit fishy.
If I wasn't trying for taste, I would have added a bit of soya sauce since I prefer my food saltier.

My issue with catch and release is you're being cruel to the fish. Imagine if I stuck a hook in your mouth. Then let you go so I could do it again. How would you feel about it?
At least my fishing has a purpose. I'm hungry!
Being from an outdoor-sy type family, I've been fishing since about as far back as I can remember. Still do occasionally, mostly with my brother, though due to a certain matter with a expired license, its mostly on the sly ^^'
We do file the barbs of the hooks with a metal file though, to make the catch and release easier. Sure it also makes us lose more fish to 'jumping the hook', but I kind feel that's a lose I can live with. It also has the added benefit of being a bit 'gentler' on the fish (not that I lose any sleep over hooking them in the first place…).
Not everybody likes fish. Again, it's recreation, not sustenance.
*Thumbs up to Gran*

WTAF?
I was not expecting to wake up to cannibal barbecue this morning.
Kjel, I think I get it; I have a cousin who works with rescued horses and rescue dogs, and she also works with veterans with PTSD. Or, rather, she helps the vets to work with the horses. The right horse can do more good than a therapist, especially for folks who don't want to talk much about their experiences.

Kjeldorn |

Decent is good. Was worried they'd be nasty to you because you're the new guy.
The horses OK? As in not kickey or bite?
Oh and good luck with your new job too =)
Nah, they were nice enough. I'll mostly be working with a young man in his early twenties - suffering from anxiety and depression - who I'm suppose to show the rope's (he's got minimal experience in horse caring field) and partially train. Besides him I'm working with a veteran in field in his late 40's/early 50's - former alcoholic, and it shows! - who in turn is suppose to 'manage, plan and implement' our work routines, train the racing horses (Yup the breeder got a couple of those too) and try and teach me something from his greater experience.
The horses are…
Not quite as well-behaved as I'm use to, still within tolerable limits though. Not really bitey or kickey (though I've got my eyes on a mare...she seems capricious to put it mildly, though it might be because I'm new, and she's not really use to me touching her...) just a little too ill behaved and in need of a bit more handling. Oh and to get rid of a certain bad habit they have learnt them, though that might be too late. Seriously bringing the feed bucket out to the pen, cause the horse don't want to come to gate only teaches them one thing…that they can get feed if they act up and stay in the pen!

How hard is it for people to understand that I work the f!+&ing night shift and my sleep schedule is screwed up, so text me instead of calling me because if you call me you might wake me up? And to add insult to injury, the dogs will wake me up at any time for various reasons (mailman, kid knocking on the door, a leaf blowing around three blocks away, ect, ect, ect), plus my Mom can't drive right now, so I have to drive her everywhere, making it that much harder for me to get some sleep. Plus it is bright, it is noisy, and people are awake and busy.
How bad is the heat by you? Are you surviving?

Freehold DM |

Finally made it to Oregon.
I left my house at 11:30 this morning. To pick up Hermione from her godmother's, then drive up to my mom's house, should have taken 7 hours at the most on a Sunday. Instead, between the slow traffic due to wildfires, and the slow traffic due to construction, and the slow traffic due to bad freeway accidents, it took 9 and a half hours.
But it's so good to see Teensy Valeros after a whole week apart.
I am sure he missed you.

Ok change of plans. You knock Gran out, I’ll gut him and chop him into smaller pieces, then marinate him with char siew mix, and stuff him into a fridge.
Then we’ll both go dig the pit, get the stones the ti and banana leaves. Tomorrow we’ll take the Gran parts out of the fridge, and heat the rocks, then line it with vegetation, put the parts on, then wrap it up with more banana and ti leaves. Then after 3 and a half hours, we’ll dig out the pit and the Gran part’s, take then out and serve it to Sharoth on a wooden tray lined with banana leaves.
Now that’s standards, no?
...why was so much thought put into this...?
