I started making Career and event tables for Traveller/Fading Suns, though I don't think I'll follow all the rules of Traveller (Mongoose SRD edition) - no rolling for survival or advance (and probably not for qualification), instead assuming that well breed highborns the PCs are are able to meet basic criteria of their aristocratic careers (and if they are not exactly meeting those criteria there is always rampant nepotism). Their choices, events, and results of benefices (applied immediately after term instead of mustering out of "service") will need to suffice as the framework for their character pre-game stories.

Whelp, killed Athelya again.
Getting to be a bad habit with me.
On the bright side, this time it was because she had a GOOD idea and sacrificed herself to save the Pathfinders.
So yeah, they paid for her Raise Dead and her stoopid dhampir powers mean her deaths are minor inconveniences.
Maybe that's why I kill her so often...

At least you don't disintegrate her. I lost more 5th level characters that way.

Also, Freehold, if you'd honestly rather, just let me know and I'll delete the alias. This is meant mostly at a joke with people I respect and wanted to weigh in on something without the actual ability to summon them. :)

I think this is my favorite Billy Joel song. It is hard to choose. He has so many good ones.

True, but at least for the first season it will turn out to be Thomas or O'Brien who actually caused the trouble. :)

Just had a bad queue experience. Burger joint, two cashiers, people standing in one lump between them. Two lines form, and a group of three girls around ten or so split up between the lines to join whoever gets there first. Obviously so. I ask them which line they stand in. They get there right then, of course, and I have to wait for ages despite being right behind them.
I am not violent.
But... drawn and quartered comes to my mind. Graaaaagh!!!

* To be fair, the can't help me wasn't the attendant's fault. It was that I was told the wrong thing to do, then forced to wait for long enough that there was a line of at least ten people behind me, and she wanted me to run into and out of the store several times trying to guess how much gas (in dollars) I needed to see if that was on the card, and all I wanted was a full tank.
Again, to be fair, I recognize that she had a job to do. That job is not "Filling the shelves while customers wait." and "Making more customers wait while sending one guy in and out repeatedly to try something that might not work." :/

They have the lady lioness in the tiger enclosure for some reason. But because people do or know whatever the sign says, parents are explaining to their kids the reason it doesn't have stripes is because it's a male tiger. I'm not sure what to say about that, just wow, I guess.
Maybe they're making... a liger?!
:D
(Or, wait, do female lionesses result in tigons. I... I forgot which way it goes...)

...dahell?
Just another sign that humanity is doomed, I guess.

Studies have shown over and over again that a single line feeding into multiple cashiers is:
(1) The most efficient possible means for processing customers,(2) The "fairest" means for processing customers,
(3) The mechanism that garners the highest customer satisfaction rating.
So the moment the line split in two, a manager should have been right there, saying, "No, I'm sorry, there's only one line! Please get into one line!"
As an extremely "lawful" personality (obsessive-compulsive), just don't get me started on stores that have a clear line policy and fail to enforce it...

It didn't matter how many lines there were, the food orders get sent back to the kitchen in a single list with priority given to drive thru orders. If there was a large group ahead of you your best option would have been to leave and try the drive thru instead.

Go to Shell.
Use Shell gift card.
It doesn't work; it tells me to talk to attendant.
Wait in line to see attendant.
Fifteen minutes later, attendant shows up.
ATTENDANT CANNOT HELP ME WITH CARD*.
Words of Wisdom: don't use a gift card to pay at the pump. When you pay at the pump the system places a hold against the card equal to the maximum amount that store expects to be charged, before you pump a single drop. If the maximum amount they try to place a hold on is more than the card is worth you get the default message "see the attendant for help" which isn't helpful if the attendant is just some kid who really has no answers.
