Sorry, not much more to tell. What you see above is about what went into my idea book.
You have an idea book?!

I have several, actually. The current one is a small, faux-leather notebook one of my old Philly gaming buddies gave me. He showed up one day with one for each of us.

Prior to that, I've used various things: small steno notepads, a loose leaf filled binder, and even several notepads small enough to fit I a pocket. Those are some of my favorites.

I bought an idea book last year during a visit to Israel, since I couldn't write down ideas on my PC which was home.

Since my return, I've replaced it with sticky notes. I write down ideas during work, then bring them back home with me :D

I have a steno pad, a classic notebook, anf most beloved of all, the notepad app on my phone.

I offered people someone advice, they thanked me with a slap to the face.

Yup, just an average monday at work here. Frankly, I feel kinda bitter right now.

Your coworkers can get away with literally slapping you? Or was that a metaphor?

Nah, it's the customers. And now someone on the messageboards also showed gratitude towards my advice as well.

Customers can get away with slapping you? That's ... well, less bad, since your bosses obviously can't discipline them like they could a coworker, but still pretty sure that falls under some kind of law.

It's not a literal slap. They'd need to have quite the long arms to reach me from the other side of the country. XD

Aaaaah. That's what I was looking for.

Proteans? Some agathions and azata. Kytons but I don't know if your and their definition of casual fun would overlap.

I make my idea notes on whatever piece of paper I can grab at the moment and then promptly lose them or forget what I meant by that note.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Did a lot of cooking this weekend.

On Saturday, I made beef stew with mashed potatoes and green beans. Sunday it was roast chicken with mushrooms and peas, with a side of acorn squash. First winter squash of the season and it was delicious.

Proteans are always up for some casual fun.

Though what's to stop them from getting too kinky? It's the reason why Kytons are not an option.

Azatas sound okay. I just wonder if I can somehow get a lillend that looks human. Perhaps a separate spell...

Fun's good and all, if I can live to tell about it.

I misread this initially as apple BEAR cobbler. Which made me worried. I mean I know you're a marine and all, but the idea of hunting down an apex predator (well scavenger/grazer really, but still) just to use AS AN INGREDIENT in dessert is somewhere between "badass" and "crazy".

I now want to post a recipe for apple-bear cobbler.

2 1/2 cups peeled, cored and sliced Granny Smith apples

2 1/2 cups lean bear meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
4 Tbs olive oil
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon table salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, divided
Topping:
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Ice cream, for serving
Whipped Cream, for serving

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter or spray a 9 by 9-inch baking dish.

Go to the woods and kill a bear.

In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the bear meat in olive oil until nicely browned, approximately 5 minutes. Drain.

Toss the apples, bear meat, sugar, flour, vanilla, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and 2 tablespoons of the butter together in a large bowl. Add to the prepared baking dish and dot with the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter.

In another bowl, combine the self-rising flour, sugar, salt, and egg. With a spoon, drop the topping onto the bear meat mixture and top with pats of butter. Bake until the crust is golden and the fruit is tender, 40 to 45 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream and Whipped Cream.

I love the recipe, though 'round these parts it may not be necessary to enter the woods to find a bear.

Now I am hungry...

It's all about the quality of bear.

And no, I won't go hunt a bear. They are protected species in Poland.

Maybe I should go and cook myself a dinner.

What you got against urban bears?

Now we need a recipe for drop bear drop soup.

Somedays you discover a good salmon run and can share fraternally with the bear.

Scarab Sages

Howdy folks. Been a stressful day. Lots going on at work, then all that shit that went down at the Washington Navy Yard today. Still don't know if anyone I used to work with was hurt.

I'm especially worried for one of my old Philly co-workers - he just started working down at the yard last Monday. And he's got a wife and newborn baby girl. Positive waves that he's ok.

What happened? I'm out of the loop (as usual) apparently.

Scarab Sages

At least 13 dead in Navy Yard shooting

The chief suspect is dead, but last I heard they still weren't sure if he had help.

Scarab Sages

Normally I wouldn't bring something like that into here, since it has the potential for starting a flame war. But I know people who work there. So does my wife.

=(

Scarab Sages

And what's really creeping me out now is the latest - the dead shooter apparently worked for an HP subcontractor doing tech refresh for the NMCI network. That was done in Philly while I still worked there.

I sincerely hope all you know made it through okay. Scary when these things happen.
