Water, honey, yeast. I vary the honey, since it takes on some of the flavor of whatever the bee hive is near (like and orange grove or raspberry bush). The yeast I usually use is wine yeast, although they do have mead yeast. And if I want some stronger flavor and different color, I'll soak fresh fruits in it for about a week.

Sadly no gaming for us this week, except for the last Hollows session on Monday. Too many schedule conflicts over the past few days, so Kingmaker got cancelled.
We'll be picking it back up Monday though, more schedule conflicts next week caused the games to be flipped but thankfully no cancellations.

What proportions of water to honey?
Dwójniak <uh dvooyniak?> (Doubler): One liter of mad to one liter of water. Goodies. Usual fare when bought or made.
Trójniak <trooyniak> (Tripler): Two liters of water per liter of mead. Meh but cheap.
Czwórniak <tchvoorniak> (Quadrupler): Three liters of water per liter of mead. Pointless. Really, who would make it anyway?
I heard that some folks experiment by adding vodka or even spirit to the mead during production but I am not sure about the exact proceedings or results.

I usually make mead in 5 gallon batches. For that you use 15 pounds of honey (about 6.8 kg). I vary the amount of water I initially use to dissolve the honey into, but always end up topping it off to 5 gallons.

Then around the beginning of May you must either: come visit me in Philly, or kidnap me (and the mead) and bring me to (South?) Carolina.

For those who have ever been interested in mead-making and/or brewing in general I recommend two books:
- The Complete Meadmaker by Ken Schramm
-The Complete Joy of Homebrewing by Charlie Papazian
The first book is strictly about making mead. Lots of good info, especially on my preferred, no-heat method.
The second book is like a bible for homebrewers. I consider it the essential book for anyone who wants brewing as a hobby. When I bought my copy a few years back it was on the 3rd edition. Not sure if a newer edition has been put out since.

You might want to try add less water and more mead. Just saying. Półtorak requires long fermentation time, however. In fact if you make batch now you will have the time to brew it, test it how it went, start another batch and then drink the final result together with Charlie.
