I wonder if they picked up any interesting bits of our discussion about the Ravenloft campaign setting.

I am also glad I never had to put my plan into action as to what I would do if someone got aggressive with you at Nowhere.

How unfortunate. I don't know how I'd live.

Unfortunately I'm miles from any venue & without anyone to go with. I'm not paying the taxi fare back home. :(

But luckily I do have a couple of festivals to go to.

Grand Lodge

Only concert I've been to was Three Days Grace. Too loud, but good. Mostly went for Powerman 5000. They were too constrained by the other bands gear, being the opening act. The pyros for 3DG were intense at the end.

Silver Crusade

Somehow I've been to more rock concerts than many die-hard Fawtly rock fans? Odd.

I was just recollecting the time a friend dragged me to a Lifehouse concert. She had a friend working the concert who was going to get her in for free, but she didn't want to go alone. "But all I know about Lifehouse is the song 'Hanging by a Moment'," I said. "That's all anyone knows," she said. And she was right.

I've been to one Sonata Arctica concert. Sadly had to leave before they got halfway through, as their opener had been a local screamer band and one of the people I was with was getting a massive headache from them well before SA got on stage. If we thought we could have gotten in after the opener we probably would have come late, but it was pretty packed for the tiny little place they were performing in.

Would have gone to a Nightwish concert a year later at a much bigger, nicer theatre, but my boss screwed up on the paperwork and I didn't get paid that week and thus couldn't get tickets before the deadline.

I strongly dislike crowds and large group events in general. And while I love good music I hate lack of control over the sound volume. For me, listening to music is private affair between me and my computer. For this I love my laptop for having speakers set so the sound is just right in the front while being unheard from beyond my room (also, I listen to the music on much lower volume than most people I know - I never understood the want of some people to play music that it is hear outside their flats/cars... truly barbaric intrusion on others privacy).

I love concerts

hm, let me think:
7 or 8 times Maiden, 6-7 Motorhead, Saxon, Skyclad
2-3 times slayer, Black Sabbath, Die Toten Hosen, Anthrax, AcceptThe Dubliners, Battlefield Band, Paddy goes to Holyhead, REM, Dio, Amon Amarth
Once: Deep Purple, AcDc, Green Day, Elton John, Rammstein, Marylin Manson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica

and countless small o tiny concerts

I have tried to cut back.

Celestial Healer wrote:

How many?

My list to date:
Rock:
Rolling Stones / Beck (Bigger Bang) - Hershey, PA
Coheed & Cambria (Year of the Black Rainbow) - Syracuse, NY
Social Distortion / Lucero (Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes) - Clifton Park, NY
The Heard - Ticonderoga, NY
Gyaos x2 - Syracuse, NY
Bloodsport - Syracuse, NY
The Vanderbuilts - Syracuse, NY
Typewriters - Syracuse, NY
Dem Ghostf&&&ers - Syracuse, NY

Other:
Peter Mulvey - Ticonderoga, NY
Nelson Shapiro - Ticonderoga, NY
Henry Rollins - Burlington, VT
Garnet Rogers - Syracuse, NY
Dar Williams - Syracuse, NY
Paul Geremia - Syracuse, NY
Rick Hughes Band - Stratford-upon-Avon, England

I live in a bit of a musical dead zone--usually concerts don't come within three or four hours drive from CNY. I'm really pissed that Hot Water Music is touring, and the closest they're coming is Brooklyn or Toronto.

Well, while I wouldn't cheer about it, seeing as it was a basement punk show I'd almost kinda expect it. At least you weren't spat on by the band or beaten up by skinheads. ;)

I misread this as "...beaten up by cheerleaders..." and briefly wondered what concerts were like in Sweden.

I've seen Frank Zappa and the Mothers. It was enough.

Do you mind sharing your plan? Inquiring minds want to know.

without the incident with the dish washer in th morning, today was almost a perfect sunday

we made apple-blackberry-jam and apple-jam

then we had lunch with m dad

then went to the garden fest of our local church (the one where we will mary, pics wil be posted soon)

then we had a nice walk in the old vinyards of Gelnhausen in the late afternoon sun

then a nice dinner at a small restaurant on Gelnhausens Market Square

then driving home in a beautiful sunset while listing to Neil Youngs "harvest moon"

now on he couch with a nice single malt , watching Tatort, the traditional german sunday evening crime show

Scarab Sages

Mmmmmm......braiiinnnnssss.

Hell yeah! Cheap apples at least!
3 kg bag of apples bought for 4 pln (ca. 1 euro). I wonder how long it will last. *crunch-crunch*

I think that tomorrow I will go to that shop again and buy a sack of potatoes and bag of apples. Some meat to apples would be good too.

Aside of the morning eye problem it was great weekend. I made the step from amateur freelance game designer to professional freelance game designer*, weather was great, I allowed myself to gorge on grapes friday evening, gorge on pączki on saturday evening and maybe even gorge myself on apples today...

Also, enjoyed a nice walk back from shop taking the much longer route despite carrying bags with shoppings and had my spirits lifted even more when a passing group of teenagers instead to listening of some techno or hip-hop, listened to classics.

*:
i.e. got paid for the thing I designed - I won't spill the details yet, until the publisher makes an official announcement of the new product

Probably only 5 or 6. I was comparing to those who say they don't go to them at all. In addition to Lifehouse, I know I've been to see U2, Ryan Adams, and Stone Temple Pilots... I feel like I'm missing another one, though... I'm also not counting local bands.

I've been to way more operas or symphony concerts..

Thank you for asking :)

I offered that if anybody get fresh, I would just yell, "GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY BOYFRIEND, YOU B!~!&!" and punch the guy in the face. Apparently that offered FHDM some reassurance.

Fawesome! Be sure to tell us when it comes out!

Liberty's Edge

I was just watching the video for Neil Young's song "Harvest Moon," and realized that the guy they got to play the younger version of Neil was, in fact, Dale Crover from the Melvins. Look it up, it's true. My mind has been blown.

Finished. Sending and getting break for today. Or more accurately yesterday as it is past midnight.

Tired but at least I don't have to go in for jury duty tommorow.

I love jury duty.

Treppa wrote:

I would do it for a living if I could. Jury duty, that is.

Oh, me too. It's fascinating.

If I ever get called for it, I'll send you guys my letter and you can go in my stead.

The Exchange

They sent me home early the one time I was called in for it. :(

This episode of black dynamite is easily the most offensive thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I can't stop laughing. Why the races didn't have an actual race war in this fashion is beyond me.

My god. This is truly offensive. I can't stop watching. I really want eartha kitt to be my car now.

It's noon already? Time to go buy some bread and eat a breakfast.

Scarab Sages

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Monday, I suppose.

Scarab Sages

Wife left on business again yesterday. This time for 2 weeks. Bringing her to the airport occurred during Charlie's usual nap time so he ended up not taking one. Turned out for the best since he ended up asleep in bed by 1830.

Scarab Sages

That allowed daddy time to cook some bacon for dinner! Woohoo!

Scarab Sages

The boy also slept well during the night and was reasonably well behaved getting ready this morning. So there's that as well.

Scarab Sages

Of course, got to work today and my computer's still down. If this weren't the gov't we could have some real IT people.

Scarab Sages

But at least I have my coffee, and confirmation via secondary avenues that my job in Japan will be able to consist of at least 11 hour shifts! Woohoo!!!

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm......coffee.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of.....time for more.
