This is a PFRP PBP game that will be starting up shortly.
The premise: This was a campaign design I've been working on for quite some time, and the idea was going to be used in the module I was going to submit for RPG Superstar, since that didn't work out I'd at least love to run it here and get some opinions. The game starts at 5th level, which should give everyone a chance to have some decent equipment, levels, and survivability.
Story:
Odd things have been happening in Golarian, entire tribes of people have started to vanish, magical creatures have lost power entirely or grown far more powerful than they should ever grow to be. Magic is behaving in an odd and unpredictable way. It wasn't a large concern until the sky itself seemed to rip open and the moon was blocked by an unknown object. Like a roaring citadel within the clouds, a fortress had made itself known. In the night of its arrival, lightning tore apart the ground and razed fields, this was no peaceful arrival. As soon as it came, it was gone and there was a realization that the stability within the planes was fluctuating, and a change was occurring.
When traveling to the Lord's fields, a squire noticed a spot in the air that seemed not right. What he could see was not the grain, but a clear desert. Unable to comprehend what he was seeing, he soon gathered scholars and mages to look upon the window. A wealthy noble claimed the land, and claimed the exploration of the spot. While crops withered and died, or grew inexplicably, and whispers from other worlds filled the head of the slaves...something had to be done.
Recruitment posters were sent to every nearby town, offering fame, glory, and untold wealth to those brave enough to explore the shift in the planes. Planal scholars could only vaguely describe what they were seeing...
What I need:
This game will be for 6 players, and is not first come first serve. Deadline for entry will be Monday the 14th. I do not want to see completed characters, or anything like that. What I'd like to see is background stories, character concepts (possible build paths) and interesting characters. I allow and encourage all playtest classes, APG, and Core. I do not accept anything third party OTHER than Dreamscarred Press's Psionics Unleashed.
What to expect:
There will be alot of exploration, trap-finding, combat, social intrigue, and magical explosions. Gunslingers will feel at home as they discover the giant mechanical fortress that shows itself from time to time, and an odd variety of characters will make appearances as the PC's explore this strange realm of the First world, Golarian, and other nearby planes.
If interested, feel free to drop me a character concept :D

This sounds quite fun.Now to narrow down a concept.
Do you want to perhaps post general guidelines (Just character Pts/roll, starting cash, races allowed)?
Might help folks know if their concept is feasible at that level.
As well, Ihad created a character for use as an NPC, but would love to get to play him. Quixotai du Saffronc, the Yellow Knight.
He rides an Axebeak(Normallynot allowed, according to Hero Labs, unless you are a Druid or Ranger?). Based on myfave video game from childhood,Joust.

a Kyton-Spawn Tiefling Bone Oracle with the lame curse [his/her legs is encased in thick chains the constantly constrict].
Would have Bone armor [chain like bones coat his body], Death touch [the area where he touches welts like it was struck with a chain appear.], Undead Servitude [ extra revelation feat]

One I've been looking to use for a while now...A disgraced Barbarian, cast out from his tribe for a (misperceived) display of fear and weakness, he seeks a "great deed" to perform and prove his bravery. Rumors of the fluctuations in reality reached his ears, and he knew he had found his would-be salvation.

I'd love to throw in a gunslinger. Been looking for a game to play one in since it came out!
How about a guy whose family was visiting Shoanti friends when the tribe (and his family) disappeared. He believes this place has something to do with their disappearance, and so is off to enter it and conquer!

I'll throw my hat into the ring.
Name: Ramar
Alignment/Gender/Race/Class: LN Male Human Psion 4/Psychic Warrior 1
Appearance:
Background:
Ramar had a happy childhood. He would play in the fields and imagine the day that he would become a noble knight like his father. That changed the day his step mother arrived.
Arusia was an uncommon woman. Eluring and seductive but possessing no quality that Ramar could believe his father would desire. At the summer lunar eclipse, Ramar found the terror that was his stepmother. He came upon her as she completed the ritual that took his father's life. The dark forces at work left an impression upon him that night. While he escaped with his life, he has been on the run ever since.
Ramar now travels from town to town, with his father's sword, learning more of the abilities that awoke that night. He plans to turn the powers upon them all: his stepmother, the other members of the cult, and ultimately the object that possesses his father's soul.

Great responses.
Ill probably do 4d6 reroll ones drop the lowest youcan do sets. Dont roll now as it wont be required yet, please.
Equipment will be standard as will 2 traits and i have some custom traits to introduce. Also the races of golarion is fine, just post where you got each thing.
Im loving the psion concept posted. And what the autho posted was a pretty good idea of what im looking for as well. Nothing too in depth but a good concept. Knowing what type of character and party role would ne great too.

I was wondering if this world is being imagined as a kind of gearpunkish type of setting. I have this image in my head of a kind of Hayao Miyazaki type of world and am really digging it. Even if it is not, I still like the whole multi-plane deal you are aiming at. Also, does magic operate in a different manner than is the norm?
Vistarius
Great question. This obviously wasn't my full pitch, it was just a streamlined write-up that I had time for before work. Could have slowed down some I think, my bad.
Anyways, while not directly inspired from Miyazaki, I think the images in my head may have coincided with some of their visions, and thus that is a pretty adequate description. It's an excuse for some bizarre and unusual characters, some interesting new opponents, and some creative juices to flow on both of our ends.
Also, while originally designed as a module pitch, this will probably be longer than the standard and if enjoyed enough, probably take up a good deal of the campaign as we shift in between the two worlds. There will definately be elements of gearpunkishness probably some steam punk, and even a few post apocalyptic western type stuff (and I even have a great part for some "aliens" to show up, and no not the giant mechanical fortress either :D )
Magic operates in the same manner for the most part. There will be areas where it functions in weird and wild ways, or not even at all (though those will be thankfully short). Divine magic will require a true holy symbol (birthmark works very well) as in this world the god's tend to be a bit uninfluential, but that won't play too much into it unless plot deems it important. There will probably be appearances from First World creatures and locations, and maybe even some space action from the Second Darkness AP, but we're not going sci-fi.

This sounds like a really great and original campaign idea, I'd love to be a part of it.
I've got two character concepts in mind, I'll work on them both for now.
The first, while not as fleshed out so far, is to play a Dhampir (alternate race given in the Beastiary 2. They're basically half vampires) Gunslinger from Alkenstar. I really like the Gunslinger class but both class and race can be changed for this concept if it'll work better for the group.
My second idea, which has a bit more substance to it, is to play a Paladin who is in the twilight of his years, perhaps 50 or 60. This Paladin would have been a bastion of good and one of the driving force's to his cause. We're talking about the kind of guy wearing +5 holy blessed platemail with a Flaming Holy Avenger sword and Helm of Brilliance lvl 19 to 20 Paladin. But then, in a confrontation with a Lich of horrid power, he was bested. The Lich chose not to kill his enemy, but to punish him in the way he felt would be the worst torment. Using foul magicks he sapped the Paladin's strength and will, his very essence. And cast him down into the dirt, a broken man.
Now this Paladin continues to work towards his god's will, but faces new challenges every day. He struggles against the frustration of memories and knowledge lost, that he used to understand and know more but now just can't, not to mention the physical challenges he's now faced with.
been thinking about this longer for sure.

Cool concepts. Years ago, a friend ran a 2nd Ed game where a Vampire Lord Drained all of the PCs back to Lvl 1 instead of killing them (He had an odd sense of humor). Made for some interesting games.
I was also thinking of a Gunslinger, more akin to 'Ron' (My name as well), Geoffrey Rush's character from Way of the Warrior. Ex Civil War Sniper, now a broken man...drunkard. Both of your character concepts were aspects of/related /sort of like this character (From the movie), so I mentioned it.

Just so you know, I'm perfectly okay with a group of gunslingers marching into this place.
Also, I haven't seen way of the warrior (didn't know it was out) but some of the visuals I had in my head when writing this idea definately came out of the trailer. I have a feeling this is going to be awesome.
What I'm looking for:
A group that's tough enough to handle some interesting and clever combats (I utilize traps, tricks, and well-made NPCs in serious encounters) and a healer. Now, if you want a group of gunslingers, I'd advise at least a rogue and a cleric to make up for the lack of healing/trap finding. There's alot of interest, so I'm already having trouble making decisions. Now just to make it clear, playing a gunslinger DOESN'T give you first choice or anything.
Also, a house-rule to the beta:
Starting equipment from a gunslinger is worth 1/4th the value of original firearms unless I can get a good reason why not (preferably in a PM so as not to derail the thread) so as not to over treasure the party. I also would like to throw a group of wandering bandits with guns without handing the party 6000gp. Yeah, I get it, it's rare, but probably less rare in the new place.

Here is the pitch for my rogue/barbarian.
Backstory
Looking up from the text, he noticed a bookcase was moved slightly away from the wall. As he drew nearer, he realized it was actually a hidden door leading to a lower level and the muted sounds of tinkering issued forth. Moving silently down the stone steps, the young investigator laid his eyes upon the old man busily working on what appeared to be a mechanical man. WOW!,Anaheim exclaimed nearly causing the man to jump out of his skin. "By all things holy, boy. How many times must I tell you not to sneak up on me like that? You know you’re as silent as the grave in winter.", said the man half smirking.
"Well, I guess it was about time you learned what we truly do here, ehh?,he continued in a half questioning, half telling tone. Hopping a top a stool next to the workbench which the mechanical man was laying, Fenimore listened to the man recount his life and marveled at the many inventions laying strewn about the shop. Patting the Halfling upon the shoulder and saying "One day this will all be yours, but not nearly as soon as you might think, lad.". Puzzled by this comment, as the man had to be in his 90's by now, the Halfling’s jaw nearly hit the floor when the man peeled away his face to reveal a man of only half that age.
In great burst of laughter, the "old man" related the fact he had actually been a master thief whom had retired from the trade after finding a tomb relating the secrets of imparting life in all things mechanical. "My skills in this field will also be yours. But, these days I work for the better of society rather than myself and from you I will expect no less. If you find this arrangement acceptable, then all I know so shall you." Readily agreeing, Anaheim dove head first into his studies. The making and disassembly of traps and devices soon became one his greatest loves.
Using this skill to "acquire" the necessary funds to further the pairs work from those of ill repute, Fenimore became a master thief in his own right. Sometime later, Anaheim came bounding into the workshop to find his friend smiling bigger than seemed possible for a human mouth to smile. Laughing at the sight, he asked,"What's the deal?" "Boy, we have finally found the break we need to fund a hundred experiments!", said the man, unfurling a poster recruiting men of skill. Two days later, Anaheim strolled into the magistrate's office, plunked the poster on his desk, and said,"I think I have the very skills you are seeking, friend."
Personality and Ideas
If there any things you have questions about, let me know. If you want a full 5 level rogue, I am happy to build him that way also. Thank you for possible consideration.

Recently after the events of the Darkfall, this bloodline has resurfaced amongst the gnomes. Due to the past history of this bloodline, any gnome found with this bloodline was exiled...which is what happened to Nishalerau Al'Blen.
In truth, fear of what he represents is probably the true reason...at least that is what I tell myself. Sill, being free to wander Golarion is not a terrible fate...
But, sometimes late at night, just before drifting off to sleep...visions of a great evil coming appear, and then is quickly forgotten...most everyone he has talked to about this vision, thinks it refers to the Whispering Tyrant, but he is not so sure.
Now, after wandering for many years, including a couple of years with a Pathfinder member who he became close with before the unfortunate incident.
Where he ended up believing the fey lady, and then allowing his friends betrayal at the hands of her and her 'friends'. Nish renounced her after finding out about the affair and rescued him, an act which nearly cost Nish his own life. He never found out how Nish had been involved, and after the rescue, he thanked Nish with the gift.
Wracked by guilt after what happened he fled the civilized lands, and now he finds himself working with a group of like minded people as a "specialist/scout", at least according to Watch-Captain Alfrik Gundarstein, in the Lastwall region. He feels there is a great evil approaching and needs to increase his control over the bloodline gifts, in order to meet the oncoming threat.
And also to atone for his own failure...
I can tweak the BG if need be.

The gnome needs to be dropped a level, if selected.
And I wasn't trying to say that if you weren't a healer, I wouldn't pick you. I actually really like your concept, so that certainly helps. Keep 'em coming. If I like too many, I may move up to as many as 7 players, just in case we have drop outs later on.

No problem there...he will lose a level, he he. Also I will need to reroll his stats, as they were not a 4d6/drop lowest roll generated.

Here's my submission. Concept sounds like fun!
Name: Hadrian Romanus
Class: Human Inquisitor of Gorum, the Lord of Battle
Concept: Hadrian lost his parents at the age of 14 to a serial killer (Chopper) in the town of Sandpoint. He was being tortured and had his face scarred when the authorities broke in and killed Chopper. He was later placed in an orphanage and thought about suicide until he found solace in the Church of Gorum, who taught him how to survive and become a hunter of evil. 5 years later, he avenged his parents' deaths by stopping a cult who sought to resurrect the serial killer. Since that time, Hadrian has been a bounty hunter for his faith, striking down its enemies, always testing himself in battle. News of the newly appeared rift reached his Church's ears and Hadrian was sent to investigate and report back any findings.
Appearance: 6'3" tall and never without his trusty open-faced war helm (mainly to hide Chopper's scar on the left side of his face). He wears a silver colored breastplate with the symbol of Gorum. In combat, he has a greatsword strapped to his back and a crossbow in his hands.
Personality: A lot of bravado. Hadrian relishes physical combat, believing Gorum is testing him each time he faces death and overcomes an enemy.
Character flaw: He still has nightmares about the serial killer.

As I continue to write this up, I've modified the character creation system slightly. I like complicated characters, and I like reasons to give rewards based on roleplaying. So if a modified system isn't something you like, this may not be for you.
I'm currently creating a list of drawbacks that allow for feats (similiar to 3.5's UA system, but a bit more limited). Once I've selected character concepts, I'll post them here to be understood more clearly. I've also added in some traits that fit closely with what I have in mind.
Rennick
If we're starting at Lvl 5. I would like to combine my two concepts.
The basics would be that Darian was a Paladin of a Good deity, (most likely Iomedae) and spent his life in her service until his fateful battle with the Lich, as mentioned above. Now a hardened and withered old man, Darian as turned his back on his faith and become a wandering Gunslinger (a skill he learned shortly after leaving his church) Darian wouldn't be cut off from his divine abilities, but he would rarely if ever use them, and is in danger of straying from the path of the Gods.
He would start as a lv 2 Paladin/lv 3 Gunslinger. How he would develop would depend on the story and how it went.

Ok, I haven't played much except for a few sessions more than a decade ago (no idea what version of D&D that was either). A friend recently asked me to join their Pathfinder in Eberron campaign and I've played with them a few times. I'd like to get into a PbP game too and this one looks good to me. Hopefully you like my character.
Half-Elf Summoner, Neutral Good
One day during his adolescence he was out with his mother, a druid. She transformed into her feline form, began to walk away and simply faded from existence. He was devastated and began to search for answers. He lived on the streets for a few lonely years while spending much of his time in the libraries satisfying his thirst of knowledge and seeking to provide answers to what happened to his mother. While being chased by thugs one day he was eventually cornered. As they drew nearer he closed his eyes in fear. Shortly afterwards he heard a low growl and cautiously opened his eyes. Before him was a great cat standing protectively in front of him. The beast attacked, drove off the aggressors and then slowly turned and came towards him. He was afraid, but also intrigued. The beast reminded him of his mother and for a moment he thought it was her. He came to realize it was an eidolon he summoned in his need for protection and companionship. Their bond grows over time, but he lacks the skills to communicate with others well and is somewhat of a loner. As he grows older he begins hiring himself out in order to finance further study and research with the ultimate goal of explaining the disappearance of his mother.
Vistarius
Good concepts. Keep in mind, if you give me an opening (such as disappearance of a mother or hatred from a lich) I'll most likely find a spot for it in the campaign.
Thanks DM, I'll keep that in mind. (Also if you ever find an opening in your two teams enters game, I'd love a spot ;) ) I've been impressed with the concepts I've seen so far. It'll be great to make a decision and get on to character creation.
Vistarius
It's a huge thread, so it's hard to find when and where and what rules. But I love the idea of team based combat.
Anyways, that's a decent concept, dragonborn. If you refine it and give me more information, it's viable. Unique characters drive a game, and I'm far more interested in the story than the mechanics of it. If you can create a kid with some interesting themes, it also gives growth potential. You're a naive kid who makes magic candy that gives him super-powers. Ok, kind of kiddish,
You're thrust into a world of violence, strange and horrible creatures, fear, and exploration. What does the kid develop into? What does his once naive habit of making magic candy become? Does he give in to the powers of his mutagens and make himself a hulking monster (Master Chymist for example) or what? I'm very much interested in characters that make themselves a story. You'll find most of this game is rping interactions, intense combat, cinematic scenes, and explosive encounters. Giving characters a chance to become more than what they start out as in ways other than levels is pretty important to me.

I have re-adjusted the halfling rogue a little to be more in line with his back story by making him a rogue 4/ summoner 1. His eidolon will be imagined as kind of clockwork guardian which, at this point, is kind of Art Deco/Streamline Moderne looking with a rounded polished body and a face capable of simple emotional expression. This can tied into the mechanical man they have been working on and the found a way bind a spirit to. I like this idea way more than the barbarian one and think it will tie in nicely. The halfling himself is more like an engineer and will be capable of making, repairing, and upgrading firearms in addition to working with traps and clockworks.
Corrected Backstory
The marvels of engineering always held a special place in Anaheim Fenimore's heart. From a small boy he displayed a natural aptitude for all things mechanical. When his father convinced the city's greatest watchmaker to apprentice his young son, Fenimore was overwhelmed with joy. As the years wore on, the boy grew into a young man and his mentor grew ever closer to the twilight of mortal endeavors. One day while looking through one his master's many sketch books he found strange devices that used the gearing of the pocket watches he was accustomed to, but on larger scales and purposes. Intrigued beyond belief, as is the Halfling way, Anaheim ventured into their workshop to wait for the old man to return from a trip to gather supplies.
But, these days I work toward loftier goals than simple riches and from you I will expect no less.
Sitting at his desk pouring over the tide of applicants for the lord’s investigation of the Mechanical Fortress, his study is suddenly broken by the sound of a heavy, metallic thump on his door. With some apprehension, the bureaucrat made his way over to the entrance and opening it slowly was shocked to see a large, polished bronze “man” tilt its head and lift a mechanical eyebrow. Sitting atop its broad shoulders, was Anaheim. ”I understand you are paying well for men with skills such as ours.”

I suppose I should get this out of the way: I do love to have fun, and the game is designed to be fun, but I do tend to get slightly irritated when I ask someone not to do something, and they do it anyways. I didn't want to see any dice rolls cluttering up the board when I read through profiles, which is why I specifically asked for dice NOT to be rolled.
Probably just me being a nitpick, but when one person rolls, then other people see the dice and decide they need to roll too. And I didn't really want that. Other than that, I don't want evil characters UNLESS the entire party decides to be evil. While betrayal and the like can be quite awesome in storylines, I think it leads to hurt feelings and too much in party fighting.
So to clarify:
1) Don't roll dice yet
2) If you are evil, make sure you can make your character at least neutral until the rest of the party decides what they are.

Dragonborn3 here.
11 years after their birth, and only two years after Razule found out he had a knack for alchemy(and by extension, cooking), the world “broke” and a castle started floating in front of the moon. Late at night, Razule help Durriken up onto the roof so they could see it. They were amazed that something as big as a castle could fly, so amazed by it that they didn't see the storm writhing in the sky behind them. Lightning struck their house, setting it ablaze as malevolent storm winds tore through Magnimar. That night, Durriken disappeared...
But Razule firmly believes he isn't lost. He remembers something he saw, like light bouncing off of metal, coming from the castle. His parents didn't believe, saying wistful thinking wouldn't bring his “little” brother back. Razule left soon after that, when his parents started mourning, sneaking away to look for a way to get up to that castle.
He will find Durriken, he will use his alchemicandies to do so, and he will make whoever took his brother pay...
He also wears a a custom-made strap looped several times around his torso to carry his extracts in, but he keeps it covered.
Recently, he's become worried about using his mutagens. It's becoming hard to remember what happened while he was under the effect of one, and what he can remember is that he didn't act quite like himself...
Razule is Neutral Good and heading for the Master Chymist prestige class.
He's going to be making potions(and will sell them at half price to allies, with the exception of healing potions and the like, which he will give out for free as needed). I see him as a bit of a “glass cannon”, throwing bombs when he doesn't want to get to close to an enemy and drinking a mutagen when he doesn't have a choice.
So I think he's going to end up as a support melee and skill monkey, helping whenever he can.
Traits are Courageous and Hedge Magician.

Quixotai du Saffronc, the Yellow Knight
Neutral Good Cavalier of the Sword/5
From the Annals of the Yellow Knight, a work-in-progress by Poncho Sandoval,Bard of Absalom,Pathfinder Society
Background
Over the years, many have claimed that Ignorance is Bliss. Of course, those who spout such simple ways of expressing the World rarely have to live with amnesia. Quixotai, unfortunately (Or perhaps not...),does. Some people, when confronted with something so all-encompassing as being unable to even recall your real name, or where you are from...Some people might see that as a clean slate, a license to do ill, with no regrets or need for remorse. The man who wears the moniker The Yellow Knight, however, takes a different road. Though he remembers virtually nothing prior to the last seven years, he does know, deep down, that he was, that he is a Good man.
So,with nothing else to guide him, he has made it his Quest to right wrongs, defeat the enemies of decent folk wherever, or whatever they may be. Astride his fearsome Axebeak (Epiphany), he lays about into Fiends, Dragons, the very Gods of Evil themselves!
At least, that is what he believes. For you see, the man known as The Yellow Knight is also quite, quite Mad. Whilst no form of Divinations, both Arcane and Divine, have been able to ascertain just what caused his Madness, or indeed, why no attempt at Healing it has been successful, (These endeavors undertaken by his Companions over the years...Quixotai himself is quite happy to continue in his Quest Against Evil), still, some day, something might break the condition...A familiar face, a place, perhaps, something as innocent as a Sign-Post, even.
He has come by one piece of information, however: He does have enemies.
It was nearly five years ago when he first spotted the Red Knight. Amongst a tribe of Orc who had raided a small village. Quixotai had heard the screams of the fleeing humans, and spurred Epiphany forward, only to find a pitched battle between the defending villagers, and a band of Orcs. And there, amongst the Orcs was a Knight clad in bright Red armor. While he did not know this Knight, the same could not be said for the reverse. Immediately, the Red knight, astride a massive Dire Wolf, Charged.
Quixotai wasted no time, and soon, battle was joined. The humans and Orcs about them stilled their blows as the two Knights fought, the clang of sword upon red shield, the whelm of massive hammer upon that painted Yellow. Both were wounded sorely, and neither wished to quit the field.
Fate, however, would have things another way. Epiphany tore a mighty bite from the Dire Wolf's shoulder, and the beast howled and tore off, carrying it's Nefarious rider with it. Strapped in, and unable to contain his mount, the Red Knight was forced to quit, the jeers of the villagers following him, even as the Orcs fled, following their dire master.
The encounter with the second Knight was a year later, whilst embarked upon a campaign to rid a forest of a Goblin Infestation. The Knight , clad in slate-grey armor, was waiting at a bridge ford, as if he expected Quixotai.
This time, the other Knight spoke,
“So, Brother, I see that you have found yourself another chicken to ride... pity that you had not stayed Dead. However, it will be a joy to slay you this time, as I was deprived of that joy by The Blue last time.” With that, he mounted upon an Elk tethered nearby, and raised his lance in Challenge.
This fight was short and swift, and it was Quixotai's lance that won the contest that day, taking the Grey Knight full in the chest, and clean off of his steed.
Then, both Knight and Elk just disappeared...a harsh laughter echoing throughout the woods, like some ghostly sussurus.
The third Knight has only been spotted, not fought in combat. Clad in armor a dark, midnight blue, he rode upon the winds, mounted upon a huge bat, soaring high and seemingly not concerned with his land-bound brethren. Quixotai spurred Epiphany on,across fields and through hills, never losing sight of the flying Knight. Finally, cresting a hill, he saw the quickly diminishing figure of the Blue Knight receding, impossibly, towards some sort of weird flying fortress... His resolve firm, the Yellow Knight clicked his spurs, and off his steed went, towards what could possibly be the answer to just who or what he really was.
Appearance,
Mannerisms and Personality
Friendly and impeccably polite, chivalrous and kind, these things are the hallmarks of a Knight dedicated to the cause of Good. These things are what one expects from a Scion of the Higher Powers.
These things...are not exactly the mannerisms of Quixotai du Saffronc. True, he is a Goodly-Natured man, and yes, he does try to be polite, but...Did we not mention that he was quite Mad!?! First off, the man spouts Limericks. Yes, Limericks...In the middle of battle...as he is Challenging his Foes. Gods, even in answer to the simplest of questions from his companions. Some days, he speaks in nothing but Limericks. I am a Scholar of the Poem in it's varied form. I have spouted Limericks, and verse of all sorts..I have studied the haiku of the distant East, riddle and rhyme, but never have I met another so...so solid in their unflinching use of Limericks. Honestly, it is often quite infuriating. Here is an example. Mind you, I had only asked where we were heading next, a very pertinent query, given our situation at the time (Hunted by a Chimera in some damned Woods, far South of here)
I asked 'Good Sir du Saffronc, might I inquire just what our plan is, as I fear the monster is fast approaching. Shall we flee, or set an ambush? I fear that it may make of us a meal this day.
And to me, to that most simple of questions, he answered
'Indeed we must encounter this Beast
Fortune favoring us,at the very Least
I think that we shall Prevail
This most Dire Travail
And avoid becoming it's most recent Feast.'
I mean... in a situation like that, a simple 'Poncho, you hide in the boulders with your crossbow ready, and I shall charge it as it comes around the corner...' would have been a sight more useful and calming of my frayed nerves, to say the least... We won, but I swear, my travels with that man were both...interesting and the cause of a stress unlike any I have encountered before, barring escaping certain boudoirs in certain Noble Districts, but that is another tale,Friend.'
My Inspiration
As I mentioned, I loved (Love? I haven't played it in years) Joust. Recently, I had created a Yellow, Blue , Red and Grey Knight in Hero Labs to use in a RL campaign. Not wanting to overshadow the PCs with my DMPC, I shelved the Yellow Knight for a bit...until I spotted your Thread.
I actually spout Limericks in real life, have ,in the past, had characters do it(As well as th Faeries in my Kingmaker Campaign), and thought that it would be fun to work into a Mad character's Mannerisms.
I envision him as a rather strange cross between the actual Don Quixote and Baron Münchhausen...Not the bragging, but the assurance that impossible things only require enough belief.
The Knights (Red,Grey,Blue), taken from the Joust game, could become NPC enemies for you to use, or...they might be figments of his imagination. Honestly, poor Quixotai will probably never know the difference. Having him upon a flying mount (Not that Ostriches fly...) would have been fun, if a bit beyond Lvl 5, but an Axebeak was a good alternative. Anyways,I hope that you see some way to include him in your game. Sounds quite fun, and you can be assured. The Yellow Knight will meet all foes with weapon in hand, a Limerick upon his lips and his sanity quite out the window.

I've had alot of really good ideas, and so I'm not sure I can handle any more, because the act of selecting which characters can and can't play will be very difficult. There's many that I think would work really well together, and others that I just want to see the story of and how they act in this world.
So what I'm going to do is have the deadline changed to tommorow night and announce which ones on Monday. Man...I wish my IRL Kingmaker group was this creative.

Hey Vistarius, here's the character I initially pitched for the Kingmaker game I ended up taking over. Obviously he's set up for a Kingmaker campaign (i.e. the references to the River Kingdoms and House Rogarvia) though he'd translate to any other story, I think. He works best, I think, linked to another character who he'd tag along with to keep out of trouble. (And I just realized that the writeup may not make it completely clear, but he's a gnome alchemist.)
Mozi Cobbmil Barrygan grew up happy, like many gnomes in Thom, in the River Kingdoms, where he continued in his family tradition of alchemy. This served him well enough for the first 75 years of his life ... until about a decade ago, he suddenly realized he wasn't challenged or interested in his work. Suddenly the specter of the bleaching confronted him.
It was at that time that House Rogarvia disappeared in the country just to the north. Now, perhaps the bleaching actually affected Mozi's mind or perhaps just his fear of the bleaching caused him to "go a bit soft," but his eyes were suddenly opened to some of the things going on around him. What forces were out there that had made an entire family of nobles disappear? And what other hidden secrets abounded throughout the known lands?
Seeing conspiracies all around -- many of course done with the backing of human rulers and other great powers -- Mozi set out to find answers, confident that there were mysteries that would always keep his mind occupied.
Mozi is, basically, a paranoid conspiracy theorist, with a deep and abiding mistrust of authority. He drinks only from his own flask -- because who knows what's been put in a mug someone gives him at a bar? -- and remains constantly aware an open hand can be used to hit as easily as a closed fist.
That said, those who do earn his friendship find him a loyal ally indeed, always willing to help in times of need. Should some friend of his be so foolhardy to take a contract with some royal family, Mozi would accompany him or her into the wilds, there to keep an eye on any dangers his too-trusting friend may not see coming from some supposed benefactor. And should a friend actually end up running a country herself? Well, who better to keep her from falling prey to the demons that affect so many who hold the reins of power?

*Throws up hand*
I have a few characters who either have had their DM drop off the twig or have had game fold from under them for what ever reason.
Feel free to peruse any and all of said characters under this heading and see if any tickle your fancy. =)
Looking forwards to seeing what comes what may.+)
Much cheers to you and yours.

I was sitting at work today and came up with the idea of a bard who uses a musket as part of his performance. Trick shooter type that couples the shooting tricks with oratory. Would be rogue/bard split to handle the traps and such, while also offering some buffs. I like both characters I have pitched a lot, but thought this one was kind of a fun concept. Thanks.

Alright. Thanks for all those who submitted ideas. I'm going to post who I want in my game here (I want everyone, but I can't have everyone). I'll post a link tommorow when I have more spare time to a character creation thread and we can get everything hammered out and the game started :D
I've decided on 7 characters- which may result in posting taking a bit longer than usual to get everywhere, so keep that in mind as it is a very loose and relaxed game. The idea will be to see where the party is taken with their own interactions as well as the idea of some pretty intense combat. We'll be using fast track XP, and keep that in mind when building characters. Because of the fact there are 7 characters, the enemies will be worth more xp but be HARDER so teamwork will have a pretty solid play in it. This is my first time DMing a PBP, but I've DM'd quite a bit so I think I can handle it :p
Characters:
The Yellow Knight (Uriel): Because that's freakin' sweet and gives me NPCs from a back story to use.
Kyton Spawn Tiefling Oracle(Ardent): Because the idea of it is pretty interesting, and the party will need a hero. Just make sure it's not evil.
Ramar Psychic Warrior/Psion(Graynore): In lieu of traditional spell casting (one was all that was offered in the character list) we'll try some psionics, and I've been itching to use the book I bought.
Paladin gunslinger (Rennick):I love this idea, and think it'll make an excellent fit in the group and the story. The inspiration behind it is on the same thought train as my own for the game, and it's freakin' badass.
Rogue Summoner (Bilbo): Stick with this character idea and you're in. I love the mix of rogue and summoner, plus the party needs a trap/disable device monkey. The eidolon will probably be pretty weak with one level of summoner, but that doesn't concern me too much.
Kid Alchemist (Dragonborn3): Very nice, refined idea. I'm very interested in seeing the Master Chymist class played into the body of a kid. Schizo kid with superpowers will be quite awesome.
Half-Elf Witch Gylwinth: Nice profile, very well made and very impressive. I like the idea of having a Witch because they're thematically awesome, ESPECIALLY male ones. You put alot of work into your concept and the party could use a good face. It's important to have some boom, but some words is good too.
7 is quite a bit, but I think it'll work out as long as everyone can post pretty reguralry and aren't afraid to have party conversations and the like. Combat won't have maps, but I'm good at explaining everything in combat, and it shouldn't take as long as one might expect. I'm going to increase the XP rate relatively significantly not to encourage fast level ups, but to make the fights weigh more so we're not clogged up with killing a d4 mites every few minutes.
Everyone I've mentioned: Just confirm you're still interested and ready to play. If not, I'll drop it down to 6 players and we'll go from there.

Hey Vistarius, I need to give you a warning up front, starting next week I'm going to be travelling for 2 weeks and won't be able to post at all for the first week, and I'm not sure about the second. After that I should be fine, but if it'll be an issue then perhaps we should take a pass. If you're ok with me being absentee for 2 weeks or starting my character later, then I'm game for sure.
Vistarius
That's fine Rennick. It'll give me time to get everything set up. The first two weeks will be slow anyways. I have two trade shows two weekends in a row, so I'll be busting my ass too. The first week will probably be character building and interacting anyways. I've got a great place to bring you in on too.
