Darren Roy |

"I can push her back! Help me!"
If Morthos's actions don't change the situation, Darren is still going to try to bull rush her into the room on his turn.
Round #, HP 13, no effects
Darren steps into the corridor, lifts his shield and rams into the creature.
AC: 20
Bull rush: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Solomon Wise-axe |

Round 1, HP 13/13, no effects
If Darren needs help pushing the monster back, then..
Solomon attempts to push the monster back.
Bullrush 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
If Darren pushes the monster back before Solomon's turn, then...
Solomon drops his hammer and shield, draws his longspear, and attacks the monster.
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Petvar Tarmikos |

I know Morthos hasn't gone yet, but here are my actions. They won't change no matter what everyone else does.
Round #1, hp=10, no effects
Petvar takes a good look at the creature, trying to determine if he has seen it before and if he knows where to best strike.
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24; [Undead (Favored Enemy), if its undead]
Petvar draws his bow and lets loose an arrow.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 - 4 = 10; -4 for shooting into melee(+2 if undead)
Sbw Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1; (+2 if undead)

sunshadow21 |

What you know about this creature:
The creature is a sinspawn, a mockery of flesh created from raw soulstuff by the runelords as shock troops for use in their endless battles. This particular sinspawn is a lustspawn, crafted from the souls of lustful individuals to serve the runelord of lust.
Sin-Scent (Su) Sinspawn can smell the presence of creatures whose nature reflects the sinspawn’s sin. For example, lustspawn can scent creatures that are especially desirous or lustful, at the GM’s discretion.
Sinful Bite (Su) A creature bitten by a lustspawn is overwhelmed with lust (successful will save negates). These unfettered impulses and emotions are so powerful that the target becomes sickened for 1d6 minutes. An affected target that is bitten a second time is staggered if it fails its saving throw. Additional failed saves increase the duration of this effect but do not increase its severity. Calm emotions, remove curse, or break enchantment negates the effects of sinful bite.

Morthos von Janderhoff |

Morthos would have delayed until an opening appeared.
Assuming Darren's bull-rush was successful...
Morthos shoulders his way in behind Darren, bringing his axe around in a powerful swing at the creature...
MW Ancestral Greataxe, Arcane Strike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18, for 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Magical Slashing damage.

sunshadow21 |

new map
I2 init 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Despite Filios' failed attempt to get by lust spawn, he does manage to do some damage to it. After Darren successfully pushes it back all the way to the wall, the others are able to rush in and Morthos deals a near fatal wound, but the creature still stands. The party sees another such creature in the corner, who while clearly being on the losing end of the battle with the lust spawn already in melee, still looks eager for fresh meat.
As for the room itself, Shockingly graphic depictions of orgies with all manner of creatures decorate the walls of this chamber. Four humanoid skeletons lie in state on biers—though the bodies appear human, their skulls are those of some monstrous creature. Two biers remain empty.
Order of Actions
It1
Filios
It2
Morthos
Darren
Petvar
Solomon

sunshadow21 |

The lustspawn in front of the party will take a 5 foot step into the square to the northwest of its current location and attack Solomon; it manages to get one claw into Solomon for 4 points of damage as it attacks from around the corner.
claw 1 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
claw 2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Filios |

Filios, dripping with blood from the claw wounds that he has suffered, moves to a position to the immediate right of Morthos, and readies his weapons for the advance of the second creature.

sunshadow21 |

The second creature will eye Filios hungrily, but isn't quite so hungry as to forget to notice Darren, who just managed to knock her fellow lustspawn back a good 10 feet; therefore the second creature will simply move up 5 feet and attempt to attack Darren.
claw 1 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
claw 2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Darren Roy |

Round 2, HP 13, no effects
If I1 is still up on Darren's turn, Darren will attack it. If not, Darren will attack I2.
Darren drops the sunrod, draws his sword, and swings at one of the lustspawn.
Power attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6; damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
After whiffing on his attack, Darren will try to take a 5-ft step to offer flanking to Filios or any other PC, as long as it doesn't take him into a position in which he is flanked.

Morthos von Janderhoff |

Morthos glares at the retreating spawn, and growls:
"Oh no you don't..."
...before 5' stepping NE, and swinging his axe at the creature he damaged last round...
MW Ancestral Greataxe, Arcane Strike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24, for 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Magical Slashing damage.

Petvar Tarmikos |

EDIT:Whoops, forgot the info. Round #2, hp 10, No effects
Petvar moves into the room to attack the lustspawn in the corner.
Petvar moves from his current position to behind Morthos' current position. This should put me 15 ft. (3 squares) directly below It2.
Petvar draws another arrow back and fires at the remaining lustspawn.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19; (+3 Dex, +1 BAB, +2 Undead)
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3; (+2 Undead)

Filios |

ROUND 3, HP: 5, No Effects
Filios will attempt to move into a flanking position with Darren to attack I2. If this would incur an AO, then I will not do so. I will simply attack at Darren's side. The ATT numbers for both follow.
Regular Attack:
LS ATT:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
LS DAM:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
SS ATT:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
SS DAM:1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

SS ATT:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
SS DAM:1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Sneak ATT DAM:1d6 ⇒ 4

Solomon Wise-axe |

"Well those were certainly not friendly. Does anyone need any healing?"
Solomon will put away his hammer, but keep the shield and longspear out, and head back into the room to study the depictions on the walls.
I assume its quite obvious by the pictures that it is Lust in this room for the 'reward'. Also, Im not going to try to wield the shield and spear in combat, just carrying both, in case something jumps me, then ive still got the AC bonus til I drop it to attack.

Darren Roy |

Darren sheaths his sword and picks up the sunrod. He watches Filios receive treatment. "Filios, I'll lead the way through the next doors. My shield should offer me some protection even if we're ambushed like that again."
Darren then looks around the room. He looks at the skeletons on the biers and the bodies of the two lustspawn, trying to tell if the skeletons also belonged to lustspawn.
Though he is checking out the bodies and skeletons, Darren's also stealing several surreptitious glances at the explicit carvings on the wall.

Solomon Wise-axe |

Solomon leads Filios down the hallway a short ways, in order to get out of range of the lustspawn, and proceeds to Channel Positive Energy from Torag down onto the pair of them.
1d6 ⇒ 4
" I'm thinkin we are gonna need to conserve as much of our healing capabilities as we can. Do ya think that'll hold you over for now?" Assuming the magical healing is sufficient for the time being, Solomon will take a few moments to wrap some bandages around any of Filios' wounds that are left over after the healing.
Heal check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Filios |

Thank you Solomon, that will do nicely.
Filios walks back into the room after receiving the blessings of Torag, and he addresses Darren.
By all means Darren, please do lead the way, but be certain to wait until I have checked for hidden dangers first. Anything interesting in the room here?

Filios |

I trust you explicitly Darren. I say we let him carry what we find, and we can divide it up later. Does anyone need to take possession of the Elixir of Love and the Potion of Eagle's Splendor now?

Morthos von Janderhoff |

@ Solomon: Morthos would appreciate it if he was included in the channeling, as he is still injured from the first fight. I'll assume that Solomon would not forget a fellow Dwarf ;-)
As for loot, I am happy to split everything when we have finished down here, unless there are items that people would find specifically useful down here.
I have also put together a basic 'loot spreadsheet' as a Google document, the link for which is hidden under a spoiler on Morthos' profile.
Morthos gives Darren a hearty smile.
"There is no need to worry about a sack; I have this well-designed backpack, with plenty of side pouches to store small items in."
That way you can keep both hands free :-)
Morthos is ready to approach the next room...

sunshadow21 |

A large circle of tarnished silver powder, surrounded by arcane symbols, has been laid down on the floor in the center of this room. The center of the circle is empty. Across either side of the opening hallway has been placed on overturned cabinet and a tengu armed with a loaded light crossbow and a shortsword crouches behind each one, ready to attack if attacked. One of them speaks, half worriedly, half scornfully, "Well you don't look like them bloody she devils. They make you run away too? And how in the sam hill did you get in this place to begin with? If you thought you could just waltz down our tunnel and steal our loot, you have another thing coming."

sunshadow21 |

"Listen to this wise crack, Skezza, claiming to not have come in through the only entrance to the place, and claiming to have killed the she-devils to boot. We should just kill them now," the original speaker comments scornfully.
"Eh, I don't know, Izzik, those sounds from the other room sure sounded like someone was dying, and it clearly wasn't these folks, and I've heard too many stories of the Undercity to fully believe that our tunnel is the only way in, though I find it hard to believe they could have missed it." The other tengu seems rather nervous about the whole situation.

Morthos von Janderhoff |

Morthos shrugs.
"I can go and get their corpses, if that is what it will take to convince you. For the record, we did not come from the 'Undercity'; the Pharasmans let us in to clean-out the crypts, and deal with a slight undead problem that they have been having down here..."
Any indication which sin this room was connected with?

sunshadow21 |

Only indication of the sin with this room is the circle.
At the mentions of the Pharasmans, Skezza really looks nervous, and even Izzik looks very hesitant about continuing his bravado. Skezza speaks up after a moment, "Perhaps we will just let you do that then, since you are clearly more capable of the task than my brother and myself." Izzik, while not thrilled at leaving will agree muttering something about "half baked illusions, worthless garbage, twisted abominations, if you want them you can have them" as the brothers attempt to leave the room and disappear towards the portion of hallway you haven't explored yet.

Morthos von Janderhoff |

For his part, Morthos will make no attempt to stop them. Although I do not doubt that they were here for a little unsanctioned 'grave-robbing', Morthos does not feel the need to slaughter *everything* he comes across...
Does a Detect Magic scan/search of the room turn up anything? If not, on to the next room!

Darren Roy |

With nothing to do here, Darren waits outside. When everyone's ready, he'll lead them through the 3rd door on the left.
Can Filios search the cabinets, just in case? And I suspect the circle is a summoning circle, but that's metagame suspicion. If anyone has knowledge: arcana, maybe the PCs can figure it out. I don't remember the other sins. Maybe envy, in the pact with a devil variety?

Morthos von Janderhoff |

I am about to head off to sleep ;-)
From a meta-gaming perspective, I agree with your diagnosis regarding the circle, but I would like to have an in-character justification.
As for the XP, you do get XP for 'defeating'/'bypassing' encounters; scaring the encounter off is just as effective as slaughtering it, albeit without the added benefit of acquiring any treasure that it has...

sunshadow21 |

You will get xp for dealing with the tengu, however you resolve it; I was waiting to see how the party would react to the tengu leaving before I determined the encounter to be over. 100 xp each
The circle is indeed a summoning circle, though Filios is able to see quickly a gap in the circle that suggests whatever was held there got free a long time ago. Based on what the party knows about the runelords, they do know that each sin is related to a specific school of magic (with divination not being considered a separate school to them), and that conjuration is tied to sloth.
During a final sweep of the room, Filios finds a loose stone in the wall that opens up to a small storage space with a scroll case in it that has a couple of scrolls.
