I will actually be dipping my feet into Pathfinder at MegaCon 2012. I wish the INTRO game was set up so that it could be run all in one day. As it is, since I'll be playing LFR on Friday and Sat, I'm only going to get into the first INTRO module.

Well, there's your problem. You need to skip that LFR stuff and play more Pathfinder. :p

I don't consider LFR to be a problem.

Glad to know you'll be there and at least getting your feet wet! The intro series is a great way to get started, but it definitely isn't really a 'series' in terms of story. If there are other low level scenarios at good time slots for you, consider signing up. No need to wait. :)

    See you at Megacon!

I was kidding. That's why I had the smiley on the end.

    Yeah, I figured you were.

I would sign up for other Pathfinder games, but as I said, Fri and Sat are full up. Not sure what time I am leaving on Sunday, so I might see if there are any openings on Sunday before I decide to hit the road. :)

Also, I am still debating on what type of character to play for the Intro game....

    2/5

I am really looking forward to MegaCon and meeting more Pathfinders. My fiance and I have several members of our Palm Beach group coming up too to join in.

Can anyone with prior MegaCon experience share some advice on food? I am hoping to avoid "con food" if at all possible and fast food if I can. Are there any nice restaurants within walking distance of the convention?

Just play what you normally like to play in LFR or your prior experience with D&D. There *are* pre-generated characters that are available for you to use if you don't come up with one before the convention, but I would recommend building one using the PRD and reading through the first part of the Guide to Organized Play (a free download which will really get you ready for the event). The enjoyment you get out of playing your first Pathfinder event will likely depend on the effort you put into it. :-)

Actually, we were looking at the schedule the other day, and our big complaint was the Sunday morning schedule for Pathfinder Society. There were only two scenarios scheduled, and they're both chapters in multi-part adventures. Since I'm probably going to miss the early parts of both of those adventures, I'd rather not jump in at part 2 or 3. I know PFS scenarios are theoretically stand alone, so you can play part 2 of an adventure even if you missed part 1, but I'd still prefer if there was a stand alone scenario available I could join instead.

Nevermind my earlier post asking about restaurants... I did a quick query on Google maps which shows several places nearby. :-)

OK guys, rub your mouse on the pad and make a wish... poof!

I added Intro 2 and Intro 3 to Sunday slots. I am sure I will get players, but I will need a judge for those games. Please say something if there is anything else I can do to help you have a great weekend at Megacon just ask!

I will even help you with LFR :-)

(As far as food, I recommend Denny's south of the OCCC and the Red Lobster next door.)

Thanks, Dom for the tips on food. I just pulled this up in my search for grub and thought I would share: Urban Spoon - Universal Drive search

Looks like a ton of options, but depends how far you want to travel.

I dont know if its appropriate but Flippers Pizzeria 4774 S Kirkman Rd is pretty good. We also got delivered NY-style chinese food.

I will prolly bring sandwiches for myself

Very cool. I just signed up for First Steps Part 2 on Sunday morning. I have a couple of new characters I've wanted to try, and that's the only part of the First Steps series I haven't played yet.

Another question, since I'm new to this stuff: How strict are the level restrictions when playing at the con? Any chance I'll be able to sneak a level 2 character into a level 3-7 scenario? He's an archer, so he won't be getting up close and personal with the bad guys, so I figure he can probably survive. And if not, he's still a new character, so I'm not that attached yet.

And as long as we're on the subject of food - any suggestions for a vegetarian? I know there's a lot of restaurants in the general vicinity, but I've never been to the convention center, so I don't know specifically what's around.

You must be this high to ride this ride. There are no exceptions. Play the character three more times? I will offer games Thursday afternoon and night, only for weekend pass holders.

I know there is a very good IHOP, at I-Drive and FL528. I prefer that place over the Dennys next door and its very well run. If you eat eggs and are not a vegan, you are in luck.

So the convention doesn't prohibit outside food? I know some conventions have their own food vendors and so frown on outside food being brought in.

Awesome! I signed up for INTRO 2 and 3 on Sunday. That's cool. I'll get a character to level 2 my first time playing the game!

I downloaded Hero Lab (a friend of mine uses it for 4e, so I thought I'd check it out.) I like it and I have decided to buy the Pathfinder module for it. It looks like it simplifies things a lot. I'm working on making a couple of characters to bring with me to the Con.

Currently, I have a Dwarf Rogue (Thug) and a Half-elf Sorcerer (Dragon).

I did the exact same thing at DragonCon 2010! I really hope you enjoy playing PFS organized play at the Con. Again, I recommend reading through the organized play guide that is available here as a free PDF. It will help you make sure your character is ready for the con.

Herolab ROCKS for Pathfinder. I love seeing players with Herolab sheets, because its a lot easier to read and adjudicate. Make sure you check Pathfinder Society Character in Hero Configuration. Don't forget to have a copy of any oddball rules you use when making the character.

Ok, I guess I have to use my higher level characters in those 3-7 adventures. I was just hoping to try out some of my new characters, too. I'm anticipating ending up playing all 4 of my characters at this con.

    Lantern Lodge

Yeah, I've read over the Campaign guide (played LFR since it started, so I know how those things go...)

I think that for a first character, there won't be any really weird rules to worry about, but then I see there are traits that I can pick and alternate race rules, etc. I'm ignoring the alternate race stuff and traits for now, since I don't have any books to bring with me...

I'm glad Herolab tells you what book most game elements are from so you can easily go find that book if you decided to use something...

Also, why is this thread talking about MegaCon 2011? Why aren't we talking about MegaCon 2012? :-D

oops. hah hah. I didn't even notice it was an old thread raised from the dead. See this thread for this year's information!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah look what you did, you made me participate in necromancy! Now I have to get an atonement...

Previously unannounced, this con will feature a working time travel machine. Flux capacitor access will require an additional ticket purchase.
