High, was reading the dwarf hate thread and decided my next char would be a dwarf.
Thought kinda a 'slayer' for those who get the reference.
He is a Mountain Dwarf Fighter Cleric of Erastil who (in his mind) failed to protect his community. Tried his damdest but alot of dwarves still died.
As such he has gone into self exhile (shaved because of the shame), but basically has to die in battle protecting others (espescially other dwarves)- i'll work out the rest of the plot later. Note- is not Lawful Stupid so won't throw life away, but if he goes down so others can live he'll have his honour back.
I want him to focus on being enlarged w/reach. He'll use predator's grace to solve the speed issue. His Lion will Pounce/Grab foes for him/flank buddy. Trip up to huge foes. Cat can grapple up to huge.
Lockdown build.

If you do plan on switching from axe to longspear dependent on opponents proximity to you, you'd do well to to take Quick Draw asap.
There ISNT a speed issue- a dwarf in medium armour moves as fast as any other medium standard PC race- 20 feet.
Why the fighter level Dip? Straight cleric will serve you better if your set On being a cleric at all.

2 Reasons- 1. Story, begins as a Fighter. Finds Erastil after community slaughter to help him deal with not saving everyone. Dude wants to die, but suicide is dishonourable. Erastil offers redemption in exchange for his life in service to the community, including his death protecting it.
2. Apart from 1 spell level lost, cleric 20 offers little. Still get best 9th level spells and channel is already maxed out. Fighter grants Heavy Armour Prof (gonna wear stoneplate at full speed-yay!) and Weapon Prof for the Dwarven Waraxe. With the Predator's Grace power he moves at 30ft (faster as he levels) in Stoneplate 3/+wis a day. More if I use the Dwarven Cleric Favored class option.
Point taken about the Quick Draw.
Maybe-Ancestral Wpn:Ranseur (since that's the primary weapon)

That's like a 9 on the Dwarf Cliché Scale. I think as much as 70% of all dwarves are survivors of big slaughters where their clans have been wiped out.
I think the rest are those who are not 100% true to the stereotype and have thus been exiled by their clan (things like dwarf wizards or even fighters who think that swords are actually quite nice as a weapon).
I could not care less about builds, but this struck me as odd.
Why not break out of the circle of bad stereotypes and play an original dwarf for once?
He's a nature cleric, so make him a proper dwarven nature cleric. One that overlooks his dwarf community's agricultural ventures. Work together with the GM to determine something that fits his campaign that could threaten the dwarves' acres (some weird plant disease that threatens to obliterate the dwarves' stockpile of foodstuffs and which is linked to the BBEG somehow; or maybe just monsters that attack the farmers and trample their crops, and they're employed by the party's enemies).

Sorry KaeYoss, but I LIKE the dwarf militant stereotype. Hence the fighter level. He didn't discover his 'calling' as a Cleric of Erastil until after the slaughter. Erastil treats community as a very important part of life and it should be protected. That's the type of Dwarf I wanna play, cliche'd or not. Sorry, dude.
He'll be pumping Survival and Knowledge: Nature, as he levels. He doesn't have to start tree hugging but maybe could take some ranks in profession: Herbalist...

Sorry KaeYoss, but I LIKE the dwarf militant stereotype.
I'm not talking about militant dwarves. I'm talking dwarves that turned adventurers after their clans have been slaughtered.
Judging from the average dwarf character back story, your average fantasy gaming world must lose 99% of its dwarf population each year, and somehow, they manage to shore up their numbers fast enough to be prepared for the next big dwarf extinction a year later(and not just youngsters - they managed to shore up their numbers of all demographics, like venerable elders and old matriarches).

Well, it the in defense cliche, it makes a certain amount of sense. Dwarfs are typically a clannish society, and if the dwarf is wardering sans clan it begs an explanation. The most obvious explanations are:
A. the dwarf lost his clan thus has no clan to have abandonedor
B. The dwarf didn't fit the clan stereotype, and was a pariah.
What we need are explanations for why a dwarf would leave his clan and not make it a court order.
