THE LANDS
I want to see what would happen if everyone on Paizo chipped in something to create a world. I decided to get it started just to see the result, and I was influenced by THE CLEAVES. I will get it started by creating catagories that everyone can contribute to. All contributions are welcomed.
The catagories are:
PLACES: this would include villages, towns, cities, and nations. When creating a place try to describe generally where it is in the world.
REGIONS: this would include geographical areas like lakes, seas, oceans, and deserts. When creating a region try to describe generally where it is in the world.
PEOPLE: the heroes, villains, and very important people that shape, or have shaped the world. They could be alive or dead or undead.
DEITIES: these are the gods and goddesses that the Races and Monsters worship.
HISTORY: this would be the events that have shaped the history of the world. This will probably be the trickest catagory to contribute to, but remember that this is all for fun and dates are not set in stone.
RACES: this catagory would include any new races not included in the PHB and any modified PHB races.
ARTIFACTS: this would include any powerful magical items that have some sort of name, like Excaliber.
OK, if I missed something let me know. I will get things started below with the first few contributions. Each one should be just for one catagory, to make it easier. I hope something interesting is created from this...
PEOPLE
Leafar the Lost: he is an enigma the defies explanation. He has appeared all across the world in a variety of places. He looks like a middle aged Human wearing blue robes and carrying a worn, wooden staff. He does not appear to age.
Leafar is called the Lost, because he always appears to be in a state of confusion. He remembers his name, but little else. He will always ask people that he comes in contact with where he is and what year it is. Leafar seems to be immune to most weapons, and if he is attacked he will disappear soon after. He does not seem to be in control of these disappearances.
On the rare occassions that he isn't confused he will a talk about some woman that he lost, and her name is Lenore. He will also talk about something horrible that either has happened or will happen. Whatever it is that happened must have been truly horrible, and it is something that haunts Leafar.
You might get more response if there was a little more of a premise to start from. Even a theme or an inspiration. For example, you could say try to come up with features that complement an old-school RPG video game world (these might involve elemental crystals, incredibly powerful and mysterious magical towers, and active fiends manipulating vast schemes in the world's background). Or you could say the world has the theme of duality, where everything is balanced by some opposite, and PCs can always have a major effect on the world by disrupting or restoring that balance (though they likely have to deal with their own opposites resisting their efforts).
how about post cataclysmic as the fantasy genre you would use.

1. The Shallows
Description: a recent Cataclysm shook the world. Unfortunatly for the rather extensive Border Baronies of Kurntz the Earth opened swallowed the Surface (this vast region of underdark was subsequently destroyed). Now a vast region of land has formed a vast sunken realm some 1000 feet below the surrounding surface. All faces are a sheer cliff dropping to a 20 feet deep sea formed from the various lakes and rivers that have drained into it. It has become home to an Aquatic Troll species (evolved from the regeneration of regular Trolls who perished in the cataclysm) that live off fish and anything that visits. There are ruined Cities and towns pushing up from the shallow waters here and there.
Around the Edge of the Sheer wall of the Region - caves once thousands of feet below the ground have been exposed to the Wilderness.
A Mist seems to now perpetually blanket the sky above the Shallows from those looking down into the Shallows from the 1000' high Cliffs.
