is there a treasure building table that I'm missing?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I vaguely recall info from the 3.5 DMG that gave you the percentages of types of items in a treasure. For example, it might have said 50% coins, 25% goods, 25% magical items, and from there you'd go to other charts to roll how much and of which kinds of those items.

Are there rules in Pathfinder anywhere that are similar? I looked at the treasure/reward sections in the core book and the GMG but they don't seem to be that detailed. I have to come up with some random treasure for a series of small treasure rewards and I do like rolling from charts for random generation instead of just arbitrarily assigning things.

Thanks

I couldn't find anything either and would very much like to know if there is such a system in place.

I'd also like to see something like this. I usually place treasure myself, but random scrolls make a wizard's development more interesting, and it's always fun to roll up a dragon's horde!

Core Book page 454 and NPC Treasure gives you gold piece values for the different categories. You then look at the monster's treasure value to see how to adjust those numbers.

For example, the Young Black Dragon is CR 7 and has triple the treasure. His hoard is worth roughly 13,950 gold pieces. That hoard is broken down into 7,050 gold worth of weapons; 4,950 gold worth of protection; 1,350 gold worth of limited use items; and 600 gold worth of other gear.

I would probably make adjustments based on the creature. A hill giant will probably have a different distribution than an chimera even though they both should have roughly 4,650 gold worth of treasure. I would probably shift most of the weapon portion to either protection or other gear for the chimera.

If you just want some random treasure tables you would need to use the Game Mastery Guide page 118. You could easily combine the two as well.

Using the Dragon Hoard:

Weapons:
+1 Longsword (2315 gp)
Crown of blasting, minor (6480 gp)
Total: 8795

Protection:
Wand of Shield, 40 charges (600 gp)
Full Plate (1650 gp)
Chain Shirt +1 (1250 gp)
Total: 3500

Limited Use:
Scroll of Whispering Wind (150 gp)
Potion of Spider Climb (300 gp)
Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds (300 gp)
Oil of Rope Trick (300 gp)
Total: 1050

Other Gear:
600 silver (60 gp), 90 gold (140 gp), 40 platinum (400 gp), sai (1 gp), random gems (50 gp), heavy flail (15 gp)
Total: 616

That's a randomly generated dragon hoard. The gear portion had to be done without much from the tables because I wanted a bunch of coins and some gems.

The Core Rulebook is sparse on the topic. Page 400 in the Core Rulebook has some basics ("Building a Treasure Hoard"), and refers you to the tables in the Magic Items chapter for random generation.

The GameMastery Guide has more details (page 118) and additional tables for this sort of thing.

Ah, thanks Bob_Loblaw! It was the NPC gear table that I was missing for the proportions!
