Mikmek's countenance brightens up at Lior's words. His arms still tied to his body, Mikmek stands up.
"We get Old Sharptooth back!" he declares solemnly looking at all of you.
A few moments pass in silence, then Mikmek gives a sniff with his flaring nostrils.
"Do Mikmek's nostrils deceive Mikmek?!? Mikmek smell Lunar Roots!!!" he says excitedly.
You...

While the discussion with Mikmek is going on, Haplo notices that red welts are starting to appear all over his skin. These seem to be very similar to Rolecks' lesions, but at a very early stage.
Looking over at his companion, Haplo realizes that the skin overlying Rolecks' red welts has started to break down and many of the lesions are weeping foul smelling pus.
Haplo: You may make a Heal check to treat Rolecks' disease.
Rolecks: Please make a Fortitude Save. You can roll it prior to Haplo's roll and I'll add whatever bonus applies to your roll when Haplo has made his check.

Woot.
Rolecks looks at the group, then unties Mikmek and tosses him a nearby radish.
Leave if you wish, or stay and talk.
I'm sure we can come to some kind of agreement, but at least part of that will involve you and your tribe agreeing to live peacefully in this land. I'll have no part aiding the recovery of a tribe determined to ravage other nearby communities. Another part of any agreement will be the safe return of a ring we believe is in your tribe's possession, which you got from the "blue bad-bads." They stole it from a woman at Oleg's Trading Post and we've been tracking it down for her.
We can discuss more if you wish, but those two items are non-negotiable for our help.
| Bill Coleco |
Bill lights up a morning cigar and walks over.
Hope you registered what the gnome said in your tiny brain Scally Mcgee. However, let me put it a little clearer. The living peacefully part isn't something we're here to bargain.
I'll be honest with you Scally. We've been given the mandate of exterminating your tribe. However, mass killing is always a lot of work. We'd have to figure out where you guys are, waste magic, sleep in #$@# holes, bla bla bla. Living in peace would be waaaaay more convenient.
Now for your Sharp toot..whatever the hell that is. If you guarantee us the ring, we might help you. If not, I see no reason why we'd help.
Bill coughs and takes another puff
I do have a proposition of my own for you and your tribe. If you agree on the terms of us not killing you, we might be able to provide your tribe with somewhat of a steady income.
For every evil blue bad bad fey pignut your tribe removes from this land, we'll pay you in silver... and better yet..if your tribe gains our trust we'll make sure that your tribe is well armed to battle those little turds.

Visibly relieved since being untied, Mikmek finishes eagerly munching on the moon radish, stands up and extends his small clawed hands towards both Bill and Rolecks.
"Deal!!! Mikmek accept all terms and conditions!" he declares. "You help Mikmek get Old Sharptooth sacred statue back to kobold tribe and Mikmek get you ring and introduce you to Chief Sootscale."

After making a deal with Mikmek, the group traveled to Bokken's hut and bought some potions. They met a hunter named Ludwig who shared rumors of unrest among the Boggards tribes of the Hooktongue Slough to the West of the Greenbelt. Haplo also started to suffer the effects of Red Ache, a disease he had contracted in the stronghold of the mites.
Guided by Mikmek, the group left Bokken's hut and made their way South to the Sootscale Caverns, which they found was an old abandoned silver mine. After much deliberation, the group decided to give the statue to Chief Sootscale, who regained control of his tribe. However, the group had to intervene to save the Chief in the battle against Tartuk. As a reward, the heroes were given Svetlana's wedding ring.
The group returned to Oleg's where they presented the wedding ring to Oleg. They also told Kesten about the agreement they had formed with the Sootscale kobolds.
