So just a quick question for everyone out there. The phalanx soldier archetype has a ability called phalanx fighting that says you can use any polearm or spear of his size as a one-handed weapon while using a shield. However, the question has come up in my group of if a tower shield counts for this or if it is just the other shields. What are your opinions.
A tower shield specifically does count for this and if you read further on future abilities reduce the penalty you take for using a tower shield with a weapon (normally a -2 to hit is accessed due to using the tower shield).
Tower shield and Pole arm on a dwarf is a great choice since the dward will still get to move full speed in his armor. Please note however that power attack will only deal +2 per -1 instead of the +3 per -1 since you aren't using the pole arm two handed.
