Psionics in Pathfinder

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Scarab Sages

I know this is a touchy subject with most gamers, but b/c it's mentioned as existing in the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting, we cannot ignore the fact that it exists in the setting and will have to be covered.

So, my question is, is Paizo making plans for a Psionics sourcebook to be released for the Pathfinder RPG? Also, what are your thoughts on how they can improve the psionic rules over those presented by WotC under the 3.5e rules?

Dark Archive

This will probably the only Pathfinder version of 3.5 Psionics for a while. It's a rather nice improvement though (I haven't read the final product but participated in its beta playtest).

They won't be touching it for a while, and the name will change because they fell like the name psionics will harbor bad feelings with many people, and while I love psionics I think they are right. Dreamscarred Press converted the 3.5 psionic rules over to pathfinder, and they are just finishing their book up. It should be shipping within the a week or two. They still have the beta rules up on the site. Click Me

Basically Paizo has some ideas on how they might due psionics, nothing is set in stone and it will probably be years before we see it. Also I expect it to coincide with the World Guide: Vudra.

The amount of mention that psionics gets in the Chronicles does not mean that the world will implode if a Psionics supplement does not come out next month.

The Paizo folks have repeatedly said that at best, such a supplement is a couple of years away. While the Creative Director has expressed his preference as to how it will be handled there has been no published consensus on how they will even begin to proceed at this point. The only consensus is that they will not be rushing the Psionics schedule as they have a lot of higher priority things on the backburner. Psi, or whatever it becomes seems to be pretty much dead last on the things to do list.

If you're doing a homebased campaign, then either use the XPH as it is, or cook it up yourself to taste, or take the already brewed stew that Dreamscarred will put out.

If you are concerned about Society play, then you can breathe easily as Psionics IS NOT an issue with the skulduggery going down at Absalom, at least not for a long time to come.
