Another similar campaign sparked my interest so I thought I'd give this a shot runnning something similar.
Before starting the campaign though, I would like to seek input on the rules and scenario I have created. If you foresee any significant problems in the structure, could you please let me know.
I will be hosting the campaign at:
http://www.epicwords.com/campaigns/1091
Once I have ironed out all the kinks in the system, then I will post a recruiting thread in this forum in a few days.
My plan is to start with 12 characters, and almost keep a perpetual amount of players running through the scenarios. Once someone is killed, then the next person on the "waiting list" will be slotted in for the next round.
Each Match will have its own thread, so all matches can be held consecutively.
(One of my first balance questions is, given the list of races that I am allowing, is an orc's +4 to Str too big of an advantage in a gladiatorial scenario?)

Well, I would say yes. With standard 15 point buy
16, 10, 11, 12, 12, 10 (just assuming here, but if only one stat under 10 - limit is 8)
after racial stats: 20, 10, 11, 10, 10, 8 [This is not the best one, but just giving out some kind of array of points]
Then -> Make Orc Barbarian and only look at Str: 20 +4 rage = resulting to 24 Str at lvl 1 = +7 Mod... I would say that is quite strong one man army at beginning, so you would need to bring something equal against it.
Additionally, BAB: +1 and Weapon Focus +1 = +9 to Hit is quite huge, when you also combine it with weapon, which got big damage, like Orc, Axe 1d8 or Broadsword, 1d10 -> +9 1d8+10 or +9 1d10+10 [used by two-hands, which boost by +3 to damage more)
Can you evade it and hope that you won´t die after one hit? :P Okey, this is just munchkin stuff, but then-> thats what people will do when its about pvp and gladiator matches.
Barbarian would be so far maybe only one, who really can outshine with this build. Fighter also, if taken Weapon Master or Two-Handed variant. at lvl 20... I guess one hit and you are down quite fast, if he wins Initiative.

I have decided just house rule a new orc race which only has a +2 Str, and no Wis penalty, and no Light vulnerability (players always forget to add this penalty anyways).
