"Fire," Nuveril snorts quietly, getting a glimpse into the room. "Would have taken care of all of this."

As her curiosity takes control Linah peeks into the room and freezes. "They are just animals. Is ther e any way we can drive them off, or tie them up and set them free outside?", she whispers.

Probably dangerous animals and this is probably their lair. Best to kill them now so they don't pose a danger to us mistress. Grall says supressing a growl.

"And we have not got enough rope to tie them up?", Linah asks with a hint of pleading in her voice.

"Linah, I understand your reservations, but even if we were to try to tie them up, they would awake and we would have to fight them then....better we should do this in a manner that put us in the least amount of danger."

Sajan has enough rope. Pick a babboon, and when Sajan says so, beat it into unconciousness. Don't strike to kill. Sajan says quietly, moving to stand over one of the animals.

DM can we coup de grace with non-lethal damage? Without the fort save and die obviously...

Coup de grace with nonlethal damage is fine in my book. I'm going to assume that everyone is whispering to avoid waking the monkeys. I'm going to need a Stealth check for each person and for each coup de grace.

Female Halfling Barbarian (superstitious) 7 | hp 72/72 (86/86 raging)

"And what do we do with our monkeys on a string when we have them? Keep them as pets? Or let them go and kill them when they try to return?" Nuveril doesn't consider knocking out sleeping monkeys to be the task of a warrior, but she can be convinced to take part if the group is set on this course of action.

Sajan shrugs and then looks down at the halfling disapprovingly.

Who are you to be their executioner? They have do no wrong other than make home in building. Sajan think we release them once we have scouted big building, or someone in caravan might want pet...

If Nuveril is convinced and we go ahead with Sajans plan-

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Stealth
2d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 4) + 8 = 17 Coup de Grace damage

Yes I know Nuveril might not think killing sleeping babboons is warriors work either, but with his awful intelligence he makes poor assumptions...

Female Halfling Barbarian (superstitious) 7 | hp 72/72 (86/86 raging)

"Bah, this is no job for the weapon of a king," Nuveril concludes, considering her weapon. She stows the ancestral hammer of the pugwampis and draws her old scimitar. Leaving her madu behind, she sneaks up next to one of the sleeping baboons and looks down at it with distaste before smacking it a stinging blow with the side of her blade.

Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Coup de Grace 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 4 = 8

Using the warhammer would have been smarter, as it would have been 2d6+6, but I can't see her sullying it with old woman's work.

Khalid silently nods, and moves in to subdue one of the baboons.

Coup de Grace:2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2) + 2 = 9

Hmm....not so stealthy....

Knowing her limitations Linah stays outside the room, her hand firmly gripping her scimitar and whispering prayers into her other hand that this will end without bloodshed.

Even if i'm standing in the doorway?

I reallyreallyreallyreally hope i don't have to use that roll :)

Sabeen stays outside well away from the baboon slapping.

Stealth checks are only necessary if you are entering the room and attacking. I'm assuming that those not in the room are staying still and silent.

Male HP(104/104 or 125*/125*) Gnoll Barbarian 7 - Invulnerable Rager

Grall stays out of the room to protect the others, having no interest in trying to save some wild, probably dangerous animals.

Seeing as so few of the group are helping Sajan will stand over two of the babboons and hopefully take AOO or get a surprise round on the second...

I think that means that you end up less stealthy than if you had made a conscious decision not to try and be stealthy.... :).

Who's doing non-lethal? I was all for it if we could avoid a fight, now that that is not an option, it's kill or be killed.

In a blur of motion, Khalid and Linah dispatch the remaining two baboons. Your simian foes lie dead or insensate on the floor.

Same. Linah was hoping to avoid a fight but if there is a threat to the party she will move in with the concern of her fellow adventures in mind.

Linah quickly kneels beside the baboon as it walls down to the ground. She tries to stabilize it and bandage it's wounds.

Then she runs over to give the other baboon the same treatment.

Grall's grumbling spurs Sajan into his proposed plan, he quickly and competently ties up all the babboons.

There- We deal with them later. Life is sacred, do not forget Gnoll.

Yeah... Looking at the DC they'd have to make to get out of Sajan's rope tying (based off CMD) I think we'll be fine ;). It looks like all 5 survived, no one did more than ten damage...

Nuveril shakes her head in disgust at the strange baboon-trussing ways of her companions. "Have we wasted enough time here yet? Let us move on."

Human Cleric 7 | hp 36/51 | channel 6/7

"Preserving life is never a waste of time", Linah replies calmly, "but i do agree we need to press on."

Linah moves out to the corridor and checks one of the openings to the north (unless some stealthy character motions her to stop and sneaks up instead).

Having disabled and restrained the baboons, your party gathers again in the hallway. Khalid sneaks forward, edging his way towards the closed doors.

Khalid:
You hear nothing from the door to the left. You can hear soft sounds of grunting and clattering coming from the right door.

Grall lines up next to Nuveril ready to stike down anything he sees on the other side of the door as soon as Sabeen opens it.

The group readies themselves in front of the right hand door fully alert for danger. The grunting from the room has stopped but all of the group can still hear clinking and clattering from behind the door.

Slowly Sabeen reaches across Nuveril to swing the door open but she freezes as the group hears noise from the south eastern room (bottom left on the map).

Slightly back from the others, Linah, Khalid and Sajan can hear the sound of something making its way across the floor beyond the door as well as heavy panting.

I plan to try and play Grall a little more "feral" going forward and a little less civilized.

In a soft growl, Nuverril, take this doorr, I will coverr ourr rearr...Grall moves to in front of Linah, Linarr, stay behind me...

Heh, you beat me too it. He would still move over there as she is a cleric of Sarenrae and he is drawn to her.

Watching Grall also move to protect Linah, Sajan nods approvingly, giving the Gnoll a look that borders on respect.

Yes, Grall. Keep following my lead and you shall be enlightened someday...

As for me, Sajan has to be a little less insightful in his own stupid way now, as my one good mental stat took a beating (from 16 to 14).

With Linah, Grall and Sajan moving toward the south eastern door and Nuveril and Khalid covering the northern, Sabeen spins to keep the southern door covered with her crossbow although the group can still hear nothing from beyond it.

Will get a reaction from Nuveril before we cue fight music. I have you directly in front of the northen door. Grall is moving from your flank to the south east. If it helps the door opens:

1d2 ⇒ 2

inwards.

Female Halfling Barbarian (superstitious) 7 | hp 72/72 (86/86 raging)

Getting a bit confused with the doors. We were originally going to open the door on the right, correct? With the clattering? And then we heard a noise from the door on the top left or the bottom left? North apparently isn't up on the monastery map, which is helping with the confusion. Whichever door it is she's being directed to, Nuveril will be wielding her hammer and madu and be ready to kick it in.
