Why Golf?

It's both an outdoor sport and aggravated battery. Get your nine irons kiddies and let the games begin...

Why indeed.

Stress therapy, and I swing like a Sith Lord too.

I thought much the same until Happy Gilmore. Then I found out that you can pretend that Golf is really Hockey. Then I realized it could in fact be a contact sport.

The rest is history.

Oh and I am banned from Miniature golf in five states.

Fixed. Seven iron is vastly superior.

I've had friends who play golf, and I've seen the kind of money they constantly lay down to improve their set of clubs.

Pass. I'll stick to the Harley, hitting the open road for a couple hours is a cheaper therapy.

I've been golfing with the guys at work once.
I got to drive the cart and drink beers out a little cooler strapped to the back of it.
I had a great time!

Kudo's, that's pretty funny.

Because there's no better way to destroy a nice walk.

Fun fact about golf (which may in fact be complete and utter drivel): The sand in the bunkers at Dubai's most prestigious golf course is imported.

Golf is the one of greatest ecological disasters ever perpetrated by mankind.

Golf courses in deserts waste millions of gallons of water and deplete aquifers.
Florida has drained over 10,000 acres of swamp land just so a privileged few can play a round of golf.
In countries like Jamaica, South Africa and Mexico have displaced thousands of families so they can build golf course the people displaced will never be able to use.

And that is just a few examples of the harm that golf causes.

Just a couple of links for those that demand them.

Golf is the one thing I fault my Scottish ancestors for. I would understand if it was played with the severed heads of the English but smacking a small white ball around a paddock is about as much fun as watching paint dry.

Why not combine the golf course and the cemetary?

According to some golfers in my orbit, that's what they've done with some of the sand-bunkers at St.Andrews.

And the list of countries where golf is wreaking havoc on the ecology should include Spain as well.
