The inquisitor has the following ability:
Detect Alignment (Sp)
At will, an inquisitor can use detect chaos, detect evil, detect good, or detect law. She can only use one of these at any given time.
I have a problem with this ability. With enough time the inquisitor knows the alignment of all NPCs (with 6 or more HD) he will meet. Scenes like a freed prisoner (alignment C/N) shows his real face and attacks the group will we impossible.
I have some D&D 3.5 experiences with the paladin and i think i can handle detect evil. PF changes the detect spells and that is good but i see problems with the inquisitor. He can switch the detect ability and disqualifies possible alignments one by one. And the end he knows the alignment or he knows that the alignment is hidden or true neutral (not really believable if your opposite is a fighter with bloody greatsword).
I need some help and advices :)
Thanks!

edit: A 6th level NPC who has reason to fear being targeted by an inquisitor can probably afford a potion of misdirection or of undetectable alignment. For misdirection, I think the creator would have to specify to which object the spell misdirected detections (probably the potion bottle).
I'm trying to think of something clever a neutral cleric could do by including an oil of align weapon in the potion bottle cap, but the durations don't match well. Wait a sec - is a potion of a chaotic, evil, good or lawful spell an aligned magic item? I don't see why not ... The creator would also have to be 6th level or higher to register to the spell. edit: Various tricks you could pull here, depending how much cheese you're prepared to use.
Why is it unlikely for a fighter with a greatsword to be neutral? Many mercenaries have that alignment.

I do not allow my players to use alignment as an excuse to take the easy way, make them always assume the full consequences of their actions.
The world is not black and white, many times PCs will need to collaborate with shady characters or people of dubious reputation.
Usually NPCs are more than just their alignment, play with this:
Even the goodest goody two-shoes can double cross the party if he believes he is doing good, or he is being blackmailed or something.
Likewise that CN or LE scoundrel that your party found in a dank cell can be the key to negotiate that much needed treaty with whatever hostile facion he belongs.

Out of time to edit.
Elixir of False Alignment (wondrous item)
Aura: Moderate illusion
CL: 6th Cost: 450gp
For 3 hours after drinking this clear liquid that glints with strange oleaginous colours, you detect as faintly chaotic, evil, good or lawful (as the creator decides) rather than your actual alignment and strength of aura, unless the caster succeeds on a DC 13 Will save.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, misdirection
450gp is just the figure I kept coming up with by different means for misdirection plus some dodgy effect to detect as good (another potion, scribe a scroll on the potion bottle, etc.)

BINGO - The character only need to believe that they are following their alignment. They themselves could be manipulated into doing things they otherwise may not.
