So I just got notice that version 3.0.1 of the guide for organized play is available, and downloaded it. Does anyone have any idea of what is different between the two versions?
Edit: The only thing I can see from skimming it is that the Magus playtest has been added as legal for play...
Yes, as mentioned in another thread. 3.0.1 is a minor release legalizing the Magus only.

We did actually say that in the e-mail you received....

While the email says that the Magus playtest is added, it doesn't say that it is the only change. I took it as ambiguous; I understood this might be the only change or it might have just been a highlight of what changes were there. In several chat and email conversations I've had, no one clearly got the message that there was exactly one change.
If you are clarifying that this is the sole change, thank you for saving thousands of readers the skim process. Color coded changes, strikeout text, and/or highlighting would be helpful in the future.

We don't want to clutter up the current version with information that's only of value to people who had older versions, so any non-cosmetic changes should always be mentioned in the update notice. In this case, it's just the magus addition.

Vic, I knew the limits of the changes because of what Josh has posted in the forums, but if I had been going by the email that was sent out, I would have been left wondering for several hours, as that is how long it took to show up in my inbox from when the updated Guide was available for download. I have seen this mysterious email delay before as well, so this is not a new thing.

I started sending out the e-mails within about a minute of replacing the file on the server. All of those e-mails were generated and sent to our mailserver within about 20 minutes. As you might imagine, it's a very popular file, so there are a lot of folks getting the email. I see that you're with a very large e-mail provider; yours in particular will often "deprioritize" mail that they identify as high-volume.
