Holy symbol

In Rise Of the Runelords series The adventurers find a golden holy symbol of Serenrae. I was wondering where can I purchase such an item? I also was flipping through Dungeons and Dragons Defenders of the Faith and saw a Greater Holy Symbol. Is there anything like that in Pathfinder?

Holy Symbols are listed in the Equipment section under the "Tools and Skill Kits" heading. They can be for any deity you like. Offhand, I'm not sure what the greater holy symbols from that book do to compare them, though, but the basic holy symbol will let a cleric (or other divine caster) cast their spells and all.

As I remember the "greater holy symbol" was simply a holy symbol large enough to beat someone over the head with. It pretty much had the same stats a club.

Grand Lodge

I've always wanted a fancier holy symbol for my character. Mostly because I think having a symbol of my god made of platinum and gold. I'd even be willing to paint it up to show humility. Even if that symbol was a clock.

You said it was made of Gold ?? How much is it worth ??

Some spells require a DF that is make of gold or silver, of s certain price range to be used for said spell.

I used to allow Holy Symbols to be enchanted, as per Armor, increasing caster level and turns. I probably should have had them enchant as Weapons.

At the same cost as Armor?!?!?!? I'd tried 10 times the cost of armor if it's increasing caster level by more than 1.

To the original OP. Just tell your GM either a) "I'm going to go to the best jeweler in town and spend X gold on a really fancy Holy Symbol" or b) "I go to the jeweler and tell them I want a Holy Symbol make of X material made with Y gems in ___ and ___ locations, how much will that cost?"

There aren't rules for expensive Holy Symbols because there doesn't need to be. As long as it doesn't give any bonuses the difference between a fancy holy sysmbol and a regular one is only the price tag you're willing to pay.

example = Destruction spell = (holy or unholy symbol costing 500 gold)

I started with the same progression as Magical Armor (maximum of +5+) primarily as a way to soak coin off a Cleric, but when he stopped playing, no one else took up the concept, so it really never influenced the game.

A +5 ran 25k gold, but he never enchanted his to more than +2 (4k). Anyone out there with an idea what they should be costed at? A +5 to caster level for 25k or 50k? Or maybe the Admiral's 250k?

A +1 CL ioun stone costs 30K. I'd say a holy symbol would run the same price. If you make it have a space limitation (take up the neck slot for instance), then you could get away with 15K.

All it raised was the caster level for purposes of turning Undead and that was all I was proposing, but I see your point. It would have to be 'presented' or at least brandished. Hmmm...but some dieties have weapons as holy symbols.
