Word 2007 Class Progression Templates?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I tried to be as specific as possible with the subject of this post. I'm a little bit OCD when it comes creating a level progression of a class on word and not having it be consistent with the formatting of the book. As a result, I've spent the last couple of days figuring out a way that I can match their format--to no avail.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on this subject. To another extent, is there somewhere anyone can point me to find an answer, if you guys are unable?

Thank you guys and gals very much!

I think you'll find that Word is excellent at word processing, but less so at layout. We use Adobe InDesign to layout our books once we're done with the words. Word just doesn't have the same level of customization when it omes to moving things around on the page. My suggestion would be to get a graphic design program and see what you can do with that, though that may be overkill for your needs.

Thank you very much for this. I thought perhaps I was going crazy being unable to work out a proper template.

If you have Office 2007 you could always try Publisher. Actually, I even prefer Powerpoint for nice layout tables and stuff - and once you Save as pdf it doesn't matter anyway.

Otherwise, InDesign really is the business!

I eventually figured it out to a lesser extent. I first opened up word, tabbed over to "Insert", then went to the "Insert Table" option, which gave me the option to select the dimensions. I chose 7 columns (for up to sixth level spells/per day progression) by 21 rows (to show the lables of each column. I then checked the box that said "Auto-fit text" and from there, it appeared on the document.

The options to choose the shading and style was pretty easy... for something fairly close to D&D's original stylings, I did "Red 222, Green 207, and blue 96".

Everything worked out okay from there. Obviously there are not as many options, but it looks adequate.

Go here.

Download any file titled 'Kirth's Classname'.

Edit the table as you like. Takes a little practice, so Undo will be your best friend.

Looks nice. Thank you.

Think nothing of it! :)

Nice site! Do the class variations work well in play?

They are a step up from PF baseline, but not as much as might be expected. Versatility is really what is gained for the most part. I loved my Ranger in Kirth's game, and my Monk wasn't too shabby either.

Of course, that might have as much to do with the player as it does with the rules... :)
