and had a great time!
I played Pathfinder at GenCon a few times, even started up a Society character.
But finally have begun one with our gaming group. I've been trying to get them to try it out. We've been playing 3.5 for awhile and I told them it is the same rules system, but much improved. What I finally had to do was leave my book with my DM (should have done it before), so he bought the pdf version and went gaga over it.
Our first session was very sparse, because only two of us (three with the DM) could make it, but the others seem very open to playing. But there may be some passing around/borrowing of the core book for a little while. Until they can get their own. My DM gave me the money for me to purchase the books online. He got the core book, APG and DMG.
He did already have the pdf of the core book, but wanted it in hardcopy format, as well.
But we went a bit unique with our group. I know the developers have said PF is not set up to play monster characters, but we did so anyways. We are actually part of a goblin tribe that was in a war and most of our tribe was wiped out. So we are making a fresh start. He gave us the the option of playing any of the lesser evil races (orcs, goblins, kobolds, ogres or trolls). Ok, ogres and trolls aren't really 'lesser', but he said he would either start everyone off at the highest CR (like level 3 if someone chose an ogre) or he could downgrade the base creature to bring them back down to level one.
We ended going with the Hobgoblin. Also, if the monsters had no option of 'Character class' in the description, we would have to go with the stats out of the bestiary. If the monster had pluses to his stats (like the Hobgoblin has a +2 Con, +2 Dex) we could build using the point system (he went with 20 points).
Not sure how it will turn out, because I believe the 'Character class' under the monsters are for NPC parties, not PC's, but were going to try it anyways. The first session was a blast. All we did was clean out and fix up some ruined buildings in an abandoned thorpe that we found.
Oh, how he is handling the alignment system, the DM indicated that we are part of a 'neutral' collection of the creatures, not evil. So no, we aren't playing an evil campaign. But of course we are going to be KOS at this time from the more goodly lands, as we are Hobgoblins.
Should be an interesting experience. :)

Everyone may not play as a goblin/hobgoblin. But our DM is good at making adjustments and remember, we are part of a neutral portion of the tribe(s) that were survivors of a large scale battle. We truly aren’t ‘evil’, but we are not good, either, and look out for ourselves. However, we can also work together if we need to. And right now we need to because it is winter and we basically have no homes, except the abandoned 4-5 buildings we took over.
I look forward to the experience, but I can see it is going to be difficult later on attaining more expensive items as we’ll have to trade with other tribes. Maybe we can pull a Drizzt later with the more goodly races. lol
And thanks!

Sure, we have the downtime if we want to take it. Usually between sessions he gives us a month, but if we said as a party we wanted to take off several months, he would allow us. Now, that of course could affect something in his campaign storyline.
Also, he let us pick 5 ‘experts’ from the refugees that will be part of our new community. We chose a Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, Leatherworker, Carpenter and Fisherman (for food since it is winter). We kind of wanted a stonemason as well, as one of the buildings is made of stone.
As for our two person group (so far), only one of us has a craft. I believe he took Bowmaking. Although I do have Profession: Cooking. lol
