I have been sick and tired of D&D and Pathfinder zombies. They are the most pathetic undead monsters out there. I grew up with the old George A. Romero zombies and that is what I want.
George A. Romero Zombies
Out of the grave they are stiff and slow
If only recently dead they would move slow but could get a burst of speed if they wanted to.
Damaging them didn't much unless you were hacking body parts off.
You couldn't re-kill them unless you damaged the brain.
They started off stupid but overtime they could gradually get smarter. ( this was evident in the 3rd and 4th movie)
Their primitive instincts were overwhelming for them.
Lovecraft Zombies
Were a lot like the Romero zombies
They often retained their intelligence but were full of rage and took a while for them to calm down
I need some help coming up with some game mechanics to make this possible though. My first thought is that they would be a little bit like trolls and a crazy amount of fast healing and the only way to stop the fast healing is to damage their brains once you got them down. Or perhaps they had kind of a die hard thing going where they are not stopped if they drop into the negative but lets say every -5HP they loose 5 feet of speed and once you drop them down to 0 you can then coup da grace their head to do the brain damage. I am really open to suggestion on this thing. I know what I want, I want to do it right but also I don't know exactly how I want to do it.
