shuffles through the thread looking for an afternoon snack

So, I dropped out of college last June. (Did I mention that? I'm mentioning it now.) So, I need to apply for a college so I can go to a college so I can get on with my life. But my GPA's too low to get into an actual college, so I have to go to a community college so I get my GPA up so I can apply for an actual college so I can go to an actual college so I can get on with my life. But the nearest community colleges are in Muskegon and Grand Rapids, so I need to learn how to drive so I can go to a community college so I can get my GPA up so I can apply for an actual college so I can go to an actual college so I can get on with my life. But it's probably too late to apply for the fall term so I have to learn how to drive so I can get a job so my parents don't kick me out of the house so I can go to a community college so I can get my GPA up so I can apply to an actual college so I can go to an actual college so I can get on with my life.

Chances are slim that it's too late to apply to a community college. Keep this in mind -- more than anything, schools want your money. "Real" colleges even moreso -- but with that in mind, they want to make sure that you will continue to go -- hence the reason for not accepting people with lower grades.

It's not too late. Get to school.

Our community colleges have online courses which require only on-campus intro session and one on-campus final. The rest is entirely online. Maybe yours do, too. The subjects are limited and the courses are not walks in a park, either.

Davi:

Spoiler:
As someone who dealt with a 0.0 GPA on my final semester of college when I was 22, I know how depressing it can be feeling like a failure. It took me FIVE YEARS to get my sh*t straight, and then I only did so by joining the military. Don't delay. Now even as a vet, even as someone who finally went back and got the degree with a 3.75 GPA, I am currently out of work.

Believe me, the more time you waste, the worse your position will be. Get your license, get a job, whatever you can. Community college will take close to anyone. What they wont do is force you to go to class or pass you along like high school will.

Take it from someone who sailed those stormy seas. If I could go back, the one thing I would have done instead of working five years in dead-end jobs during the time my peers were building their careers was GO BACK TO SCHOOL. Your youth is the time when you get into your career, and work for crap before getting promoted into the actual good jobs. The problem is, once you get past a certain age, they don't want you in those entry jobs. They want to teach you the job young.

If you can't stand the thought of going back to college, then go to a trade school. Plumbers, electricians, and HVAC schools are all available locally, and they make good money. It's not office work, but you are pretty much guaranteed to have work forever as long as you are good.

Dude, I feel for you, but keep your head high and good things will come.

Heh. Yeah, life is complicated sometimes. I dropped out of college about ten years ago and am just now going back to community college. Not a grades issue in my case. Life just sorta tossed me more curveballs than I could handle at one time. Starting over sucks, but hey, it's better than giving up. :)

As far as community college deadlines...is your FAFSA current? If not, get it in ASAP. Some community colleges (including the one I'm applying for) have late deadlines for financial aid. Also, definitely not too late to apply for community college. Most of them have open enrollment right up until classes start and they make it as easy as possible for people to get in. Good luck, however things work out.

My foolproof plan for MURDERING Beholders....

Spoiler:
Have the rogue stealth in and swipe the Visine stash, you know the multi eyed freak has a stash. The when combat begins toss a few pouches of itching powder at it, as a ranged touch attack you should score an easy hit. Laugh as it screams and slams into everything in sight in attempt to scratch it's eyes with no hands! :D

This is kind of out of the blue here, but I think someone (Freehold DM?) made a thread about people wanting to write stuff for other people. I searched the archives for it the other day but couldn't find it.

The best way is to use the old SSI gold box games trick of creating and dropping characters to multiply magic items.

You use that to give everyone multiple Dusts of Disappearance and use it to kill the Mulmaster Beholder Corp.

Note: It took a long time to kill about thirty beholders in one battle with 7th level characters in that game, The Curse of the Azure Bonds, if my memory serves me correctly.

Song:

Well, I think I'll go and rent me a movie right now;
Go and get something I ain't never seen.
And on the discount rack, I see Deliverance,
And I'm watchin' it now and they've got to that scene
Where they meet the hillbillies and they're big and they're mean'
And who's that crawlin' around on his knees?
It's Ned Beatty! (Beatty!) Ned Bea-yay-yay!
Ned Beatty had the hardest part
'Cause redneck love leaves emotional scars.
I guess he didn't read the script too far;
Ned Beatty had the hardest part!

Well, I wonder what kind of parts Ned turned down
Oh, I wonder how desperate he was.
'Cause I've heard it's pretty tough in Hollywood,
But I woouldn't ever let them tie me to a tree;
Screamin' and holdin' up my BVDs;
Waitin' for Burt to come and rescue me,
Sayin' "Hey Burt!" (Hey Burt) Hey-yay-yay!
Ned Beatty had the hardest part.
If you got a purty mouth, you can be a big star.
I bet the next day, his agent got fired.
Ned Beatty had the hardest part!

Well, don't let 'em get you Ned don't let 'em next to you!
Don't let 'em get you Ned you know what he wants to do!
Think of your momma Ned put you through drama school;
Is this what she had in mind? You think she's proud of you?

Ned Beatty! (Beatty!) Ned Bea-yay-yay!
Ned Beatty had the hardest part!
He's taken method acting just a bit too far,
'Cause this ain't exactly Shakespeare-in-the-Park.
Ned Beatty had the hardest part!

Ned Beatty had the ha-a-a-a-a-a-arde-e-e-e-est pa-a-a-a-art!

Who-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oa-oa!

Welcome to life, it doesn't get any less complicated. :)
But it can get more.....

Shush you too. We want to be "rolemodels" and inspire him to greatness. :)

Clearly you need to investigate this thing called "graft."

I'm looking for information on "graft", tell me what I want to know Jedi. Or else.

So, are you going to do it?

Give up soda? Sure. :)

You know exactly which one I was talking about. :P Imagine the money. It'd be like hitting a mini-lottery.
I don't know. I will cut back and make a real effort to slow down, I am just not sure I am up for throwing my body through that large a loop. Giving up all soda and all the other foods.

Did you tell the Doc about my club soda cure? I'm beginning to think s/he is some kind of a quack. ;)

Seriously, I hope you get good news and relief soon.

We're hopeful. I hate seeing her in pain, especially when I can't pummel somebody for it. :/

So, I have to ask: what was your distraction downfall?

Short answer, horrible downward spiral of apathy. Could of bounced back, but just went straight through the trampoline, hit the ground and started digging.

This is kind of out of the blue here, but I think someone (Freehold DM?) made a thread about people wanting to write stuff for other people. I searched the archives for it the other day but couldn't find it.

Anyone know where it is or what the exact name is?

appears as if summoned

Here you are, my friend.
