Didn't we just get to 35,000 posts like a week or two ago? Are we going for 50,000 by the end of March?

Slow start. Having a hard time reading about the nervous system. The prof explained it so well, but the text is confusing and meanders so much. Ugh. Must finish this chapter. Then I get to read another badly written chapter on the brain. :/

Also, weather is confusing.

And now I am officially procrastinating. Why is is when I'm really busy I come back to a hundred posts, but when I'm trying to procrastinate it's really slow?

No, not seriously!

It's remarkable that we live in a time when you can ride out a tornado without losing power or internet, and even if power and the cable internet failed lots of people would still be connected by smart phones. Remarkable!
Isn't it? Except that we don't have cell phones, much less smart ones.
Sometimes I think technology has made us lazy and dependent, but sometimes it's pretty awesome.

No phone.

But Cake is a lie.

Strings ROCK! Apocalyptica "Hall of The Mountain King"

Nice! :D

I also love good piano music. Erik Satie tops my list, just before Philip Glass.

I love playing the Satie. If you like that, give a listen to the 2nd movement of Ravel's piano concerto. A very similar feel, and very moving.

Satie also got me hooked on Philip Glass.

*MUSIC NOOB ALERT*
Oooo, Ravel is distinctly different to my untrained ears. I would almost say that Satie's music is like listening to a conversation while Ravel's would be like scenery music. I guess it just doesn't speak to me. *insert rimshot*

For folks who don't get the tornado madness, here's a record of our evening. Neat time-lapse footage of the storm last night, complete with the eerie sound effects of sirens and police announcements, which I haven't heard since I was a child in 1967's Oak Lawn area. The police, those brave souls, are out in these storms to watch and warn.

Interesting to note is the cloud direction once the squall line passes, and that this guy was only a mile or so from an area of destruction. It doesn't look that bad where he is. It's all a roll of the dice, isn't it?

So yeah, we slept in this morning!

Sorry to hear that. My brother has been/is in that situation. It is tough.

Something like that. My head really hurts this morning.

I find it amazing, even though I've seen it before, how any sense of rational reasoning seems to become suppressed.

It's wild how people can hit rock bottom (disease, massive weight loss, trading sex for drugs, homelessness, jail) and still tell you that they have it under control. I'm not really sure what these idiots see in the mirror, but it's not reality, and nothing is ever their damned fault either. They just won't take ownership of any of their own choices. They actively try to hurt everyone they come into contact with this endless passive aggressive horse crap.

On the bright side they want me on site tomorrow for that power plant project.

Man my head hurts....

Addiction turns someone into something other than themselves. They look very much like the person you once knew, and maybe even have a few of the same qualities, but that person is no longer there. They may be locked up inside of that body somewhere and occasionally take over to give you flashes of what you once knew, but even if they are, they are not in control of that body. The addiction is. The hard part is that sometimes, the person you once knew is long gone- irrevocably lost underneath layers of the desperation you already described. The harder part is that that is only sometimes true, and there is no way of telling if someone can really be brought back in control of themselves or not.
