Ugh is right. My eyes do not want to comfortably wear contacts right now, so I'm continuing to wear glasses these morning. Ralphie from A Christmas Story is calling me and wants them back. Blergh.
Going to need some PC inspiration. Last week in our Tuesday campaign, it seemed that the party went in two different directions when it came to an impasse that the 'Adventurer's Guild' was seized and rolled into the city militia under terms of martial law. Several players decided to allow themselves to be conscripted for the upcoming war whilst others wanted to be conscientious objectors ... or more specifically ... they don't want to be involved in a war where their characters have no concerns in. But for those characters, they'll have to find a new means of employment and/or income as the original means to do so has now passed them.
This has caused a situation where he's planning on running concurrent story lines. Since the war portion will take more time to plan and to decide how he wants to run mass vs. individual combat, it will take a backseat for awhile. Therefore, we're going to run the separate arc with the PCs not involving themselves in the upcoming war (for now). Since my Swordsage/Barbarian/Scout is a fighting machine, he volunteered for conscription. So I need to come up with a new PC for tomorrow evening.
As it stands, there's a Ranger and a Cleric/Druid who are good aligned. There's also a Fighter who's NE. Not sure if we'll have our Wizard in this party as he ended up doing something stupid at the end of the previous session and got himself locked up. Myself and one other guy in the group were the only ones who essentially have to come up with new PCs.
I was a couple hundred XP shy of 8th level, so I get to put together the new one at exactly that point. I expect him to level-up mid adventure, so I'm going to put together in mind as if the PC will be 8th level so I don't have much downtime and can smoothly transition mid-play.
Need inspiration! We are playing 3.5; the WotC resources are wide open. I assume Green Ronin is too because one of the players has been playing an Unholy Warrior (which is going to be interesting because we've been trying to get that player off the 'must always play EEVVIILLL characters' kick).

Need inspiration! We are playing 3.5;...
Halfling sorcerer with the Shadow Bloodline from APG. Halflings get a bonus to Charisma, and to Stealth, and with that bloodline Stealth becomes a class skill I believe. Plus you'll get Darkvision (first to 30 ft, then to 60 ft).

While playing 3.5 instead of Pathfinder, I may have to give that a look. It can easily be reversed to fit the 3.5 mold.

Oops, forgot about that.
How about a halfling sorcerer with the shade template - they had it written out in an issue of Dragon. Of course, I think you'd have to sacrifice some levels....

I have friends with masters degrees and PhDs who are out of work.
I'm not sure why people think they are going to make a lot of money in the field of psychology and social work. I almost went into psych then I almost went into constitutional law. I wouldn't have minded staying in IC wafer fab and chemical management if those industries hadn't collapsed.
In any case, psychology seems to be one of the fields where advanced degrees are least likely to pay big dividends. I just can't imagine who gets a degree in social work and thinks they are going to get rich.
Forgot to mention that if I got those did get the advanced degree, I would not be able to get the jobs I have now- I would be considered overqualified. But then again, I think that goes without saying.

Well, we borrowed the tune from Cee Lo Green's "Forget You" (that's the clean version of the song). I doubt Ms. Spears will have much interest in it, since our version doesn't involve sex, drugs or poor child-care decisions. ;)

Also, more than a few people at the second job last night(venue was located not too far away from where I used to live) told me I look like Cee Lo Green. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

I forget what it's called exactly since it's been banned in our games after a player really abused the silence ability, there is a shadow gnome in Races of Stone I think that has some really nice spell-like abilities that are especially good for a stealthy type character.

Not a bad idea. However, I must admit that my initial character had tendencies of looting and pillaging to take advantage of the initial hysteria that was going on and I think what the GM is trying to do is to steer the group off into a co-op where we're more good/neutral aligned. Ultimately, I think it'll revert back more to the beer & pretzel mode after a couple of attempts, so I guess I'm just looking more at an entertaining build. Alas, this one is a bit more of a roll-play venture.

Looking at it right now. What tactics or methods do you do to prevent the GM from trying to exploit bright light on you? I mean, it's not like UV Ray Bans are common in a fantasy setting. :P
As for Tiamat - I learned this morning that Gorilla Glue seems to 'expand' and 'foam' a bit even though you put on what you thought was a dab. I'm going to have to chip away carefully at some of the foam that trickled and built up around it. Maybe use one of those tools that dentists use to scrape tartar from teeth. (?)
P.S. Is it bad of me when I told my girl that it's normally going for $80, but when she told me how much I paid for it, I replied ... twenty five? *looks guilty* It seemed much easier to say than $40.

Unless I'm overlooking something (which is entirely possible), I only see Chaos and Whisper Gnomes as variants in that book.

Our Tuesday night game is set in a homebrew to which we know very little about other than the base city. It's very loose and sandboxy on the fly.
Could you elaborate?

Mmm... Arcane Trickster.
If you do go Arcane Trickster, be sure to pick up the various Orb spells (ranged touch attack -- within 30' can sneak attack).
From the Spell Compendium? Whenever I play a Warmage, I abuse the living hell out of those. We jokingly call that book The Book of Broken. There are a lot of good utility spells in there, but I think that there's a number of them that stacked uncanny dodge and evasion when it came to playtesting. ;-)
