Last I checked, if you want to travel from New York to London via Google, you need to swim across the Atlantic Ocean.

Yes. We must now go forth and repost this truth in as many different locations as possible. Soon, any googling for Freehold DM will return the top result of his unrequited Whedon love. :)
We should definitely post this on his new FB page.

You mean someone already made that one for him. The one that autoloads and logs him in when he clicks on the link?!?!? o.O

I hadn't really thought about it, but you're right. Between the MAERSK ALABAMA rescue last year, the rescue at sea last month, and this latest bit of news, it does seem we're getting more than our share of attention. I wish it were all positive, but I guess that's too much to ask for. ;)

Yeah. Reminds me of 93-95 on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. From Operation Uphold Democracy, to the first deployment of a combat ship with women as part of the crew, to The Price is Right being filmed on the hanger deck.

I don't recall anything this bad, but the ship wasn't nicknamed The Love Boat for nothing. :-/

HUB channel (Hasbro's own cartoon channel) is showing the following:

Generation 1 Transformers (the original series): Every Monday through Thursday at midnight
G.I. Joe: Real American Hero (original series): Every Monday through Thursday at 12:30 am (right after Transformers)
Batman Beyond: Every Friday at Midnight
Men in Black: Every Friday after Batman Beyond

And coming up, (I'm somewhat hoping they don't suck), new Transformers and GI Joe cartoons. (Oh, and new My Little Ponies too)

With all this, you wonder why they aren't showing the classic D&D Cartoon or even making a new one...

Transformers: Prime trailer
GI Joe Renegades

@Treppa: What a great way to look at it! I like your point of view.

@Wolfthulu: Yeah, I recall hearing stories about those years on Ike. I was still in ROTC at the time, but the legend was alive and well when I got my commission in '95.

It is kind of sad that we tend to remember the bad things more clearly, but I don't think I'll ever forget the pride I felt when Captain Phillips walked onboard and called his wife to let her know he was safe and coming home.

I have a hard time with most series and usually stick to the "big" movies. Robotech and Bleach have been the exception for me in series works. As for the movies, I'm a big fan of (of course) Akira, plus Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Ghost in the Shell and Battle Angel Alita.

Now, they are talking of live-action Robotech, Akira and Battle Angel. Robotech has Tobey Maquire attached and is the only one I might look forward to. Akira's wooing Zac Effron to play Kaneda and James Cameron is directing Battle Angel, so I don't see either of those turning out well.

Yea I usually like the movie in English, but most series I go for Japanese. Cept for Full metal Alchemist and some others, cause they did just such an awesome job.

And I am with you about Tobey as Akira. Totally wrong.

Live action Robotech...It was only a matter of time. I will have to check it out, although I'm not expecting much, UNLESS they go in the super-sci-fi-magic-teddy-bears universe direction...the uniquely american series that did its damnedest to divorce itself from the Japanese parent material. Considering the Shadow Chronicles did okay, I think it may be palatable. Akira will probably fail horribly unless they diverge from the plot and update it. Battle Angel/Gundm had it's chance with Dark Angel, and eventually failed. I'm still bitter about that show, if only because Jessica Alba LOOKED JUST LIKE ALITA/GALLY!!!!

Aren't Dark Angel and Battle Angel Alita, you know, completely and utterly unrelated? Besides both being cyberpunk stories starring hot women in black, or course.
