Wingcramps, Spleencramps, Calfcramps, Handcramps, and whatever other cramptacularness is going on! We all better get some potassium in our systems! So go stick a banana in it!

I have a funny story about bananas.....

Considering you got ToP, I'm not sure the story is as much funny as it is...intriguing. Would you like to take a quick survey, sir?

Is this a story that may make me reconsider eating bananas?

Woot! Naked bananas. Which is funny, really.

You see, the story goes a little something like this:

A few years ago a couple of friends and myself were sitting in the hotel breakfast area during a particularly amazing Gencon. We were eating breakfast, of course, which often includes bananas.

One of my friends, we will call her Jane, stated the bananas reminded her of a book she had been reading. Apparently it dealt with a prostitute and this investigator type guy. Anyway, as the story goes, the prostitute gave this guy a "knowing look" so he went to the kitchen to get some bananas.

At which point my other friend, an artist by trade (you have likely seen his work in Paizo products), and myself jumped to the same conclusion. What, was this girl low on potassium or something? Somehow we started to fixate on "potassium" and it led to the use of the word throughout the rest of the con. Naturally, the word couldn't be said in a normal, flat voice. You had to put a sort of gruff, gravely tone to it. "POTASSIUM!"

It became greeting, a way of stating your approval, everything. In the artist's area....POTASSIUM! In the halls....POTASSIUM! At dinner....POTASSIUM!

I imagine this would be much funnier if you had actually been there but I can never resist telling this story.

This was the same con in which the term "Allen goes bam!" was coined. But that is a tale for another time.

It is, unfortunately, one of those "you had to be there stories" but I decided to relate it anyway.

[/rant] So I get a letter from Payroll, stating that garnishments will begin on 10/29 in compliance with a court order. So I actually read the attached docs. Same name, wrong home address, right company, no SSN. So I have to contact some schmuck lawyer to find out/prove it's not me (duh!) and that they got the employer info from their collections company. Looks like it's being fixed, but what a way to ruin your day![/end rant]

At least the lady at the lawyer's office apologized on the phone. I told her that they should smack their collections guy, and to send me cookies. I'll be nice 'til I know they sent in the right forms to my employer.

Howdy, fellow FAWTLies!

It will take me a while to catch up, so I'll just say that I hope everyone is doing well.

I've been out of touch for a couple of days, due to an outage on the system that provides our internet connectivity. This would be bad on its own, but I also happen to be responsible for that system's operation, so it's been a bit more painful.

However, we are now back up and online, so everyone's happy again.

I'll post more as I get to read back through the recent posts.

Cheers!

Bruce Wayne? That sissy who hides in his palace up on that hill hours outside of the city? That guy who keeps getting kidnapped and rescued by Batman? By the way, I wonder if they've got something going on... because Batman rescues him an awful lot...

Come, let us hasten to a higher plane,
Where dyads tread the fairy fields of Venn,
Their indices bedecked from one to n,
Commingled in an endless Markov chain!

Come, every frustum longs to be a cone,
And every vector dreams of matrices.
Hark to the gentle gradient of the breeze:
It whispers of a more ergodic zone.

In Riemann, Hilbert, or in Banach space
Let superscripts and subscripts go their ways.
Our asymptotes no longer out of phase,
We shall encounter, counting, face to face.

I'll grant thee random access to my heart,
Thou'lt tell me all the constants of thy love;
And so we two shall all love's lemmas prove,
And in our bound partition never part.

For what did Cauchy know, or Christoffel,
Or Fourier, or any Boole or Euler,
Wielding their compasses, their pens and rulers,
Of thy supernal sinusoidal spell?

Cancel me not -- for what then shall remain?
Abscissas, some mantissas, modules, modes,
A root or two, a torus and a node:
The inverse of my verse, a null domain.

Ellipse of bliss, converge, O lips divine!
The product of our scalars is defined!
Cyberiad draws nigh, and the skew mind
Cuts capers like a happy haversine.
