Yuck. I hope you survive the week.

Something I think many people don't realize. Everyone gets so fixated on that there MUST be someone for everyone, not everyone NEEDS someone. Sure, it is nice to have a person there to share things with and live life with, and I don't doubt that I may yet find that person that will grow old with me, but if I've learned anything from the last four years, it's that if you're not happy alone, you'll never be happy with someone else.

(Fortunately, I will always treasure this time I've spent in Minnesota to remind me How to Be Alone).

Night all!

If she did her hair a little and slapped on some make-up, she wouldn't have to make that video. Just sayin'.

P.S. Schizos are never alone. Right Urizen? Right!

GoooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD Morning FAWLTY HOUSE!!!

Yes, I've been waiting for a while to whip that one out.

Okay, in case you can't tell I'm pretty burnt out after all the work this weekend. Well, maybe overstimulated is the right word. Cuz after going to my first ball this Saturday and the wife's attempt to play matchmaker on Sunday, I'm a weird combination of hyper and pooped. Here's hoping some monotonous paperwork evens me out a bit. I'll be going gaming upon the morrow as well- here's hoping I get some quality sleep tonight....

First a potential pet shop thread for me, and now a bike question! Today is shaping up well, on the site for me at the very least!

Yes, I'ds ay you need a mountain bike. It's Iowa- your winters are no joke. Even I- a seasoned NYC cyclist used to riding in conditions that make friends, relatives and acquaintences wonder as to my sanity- shudder at some of the things you'd have to put up with up there. You're going to need something reliable- maybe not oversized tires, which is something of a trend aroundabout- but with enough teeth to grip the road, dirt, and snow that I KNOW is coming your way.

I will take a picture and post it later today to show you guys what has caught my eye. it even fits my color scheme :) It originally has aggressive off-road tires, and I am thinking of picking up a set of additional good weather tires

The eternal debate- point buy vs. 4d6 drop the lowest. Someone on there made a very eugenics like comment regarding people with low stats being in your party that I took offense to. They have since explained themselves better, but it still irks me. If people come to me in the party and say that my character is a bit too weak to play with the big boys, I'll consider what they have to say. If they make an attempt on my character's life in game, or worse, try to put hands on my sheet out of game, then we have a *problem*.

Agreed. Why do people feel that every character they play has to be optimized? And why do the seeming majority of those people feel the need to proselytize when someone else brings in a character where they want to try a "suboptimal" character which fits a role-playing concept they have.

To be fair to those I disagree with, the thread really isn't about optimizing, but point buy, with a subtle eye towards the changes the Pathfinder system has made in 3.x. The game is now a hell of a lot more mechanical than ever before, and a few people have implied(if not made arguments for) that Pathfinder has changed "the game" to the point that randomly determined stats for character creation really no longer work. I have no problem debating that last one, and I'd really be interested in what the heads of Paizo think about that, but what pissed me off was the attitude, not the argument.

The way I see it, if you're more of a drain on party resources than you are a contributor, I'll simply stop spending my part of the resources to enable your continued draining of said resources.

That is not to say all PCs need to be 'optimized', but they do need to be 'effective'.

It's like that friend you've all had. You know, the one that is just overly negative about everything, is rude and seemingly unintentionally pisses everyone off... all the time. You may have reasons to like him, but sooner or later you stop inviting him to your parties because he makes it less fun for everyone else.
