I like the Bard and Oracle classes however I am not a big fan of magic users, which brings me to my question: Is substituting channel energy for the spells a balance change to these classes?
It would be a nerf in both cases. Spells are way more versatile than channel energy.

Removing the spells from a full caster and a half-caster for channel energy would be an amazingly huge nerf.
Consider whether or not you would play a wizard or a sorceror who couldn't cast spells and had channel negative energy.
