While officially I can not tell you exactly what is going on with my conversations with Nick Logue over Sinister Adventures and Razor Coast; I can say he was very thankful for the offer I made. In addition to LPJ Design, several other people had shown interest also in Sinister Adventures. Nick seemed very committed to release Ebon Shroud and Anarchist Gamemaster Cookbook before making a specific decision to the LPJ Design offer. I hope this is something we can both work out for the continued success of both of our companies. We will keep you updated as things happen. Talk to you later…

heh as long as I get my book with pathfinder stats at some point...

That would be fantastic. I've really wanted to get my hands on 'Razor Coast' for some time. Dammit.

Having preordered both RC and the AGCB I'm interested in future developments.

I don't understand the need to purchase anything. Doesn't LPJ already exist as a publishing company? It's not like you need the infrastructure or the corporate reputation of Sinister to sell books, and if Nick doesn't seem to want to get rid of the company until after he's put out what has already been announced, what does LPJ gain from it? What does Nick gain from it? I don't see how buying someone out of their company helps that company survive; it just makes it part of a different company and either keeps the same name or changes it. I'd much rather see Sinister close shop after getting its promised preorders out the door than have it changing hands.

A few guesses:

  • Possible future sales of Razor Coast from people who haven't pre-ordered.
  • The ability to launch Future products based on RC
  • A cooler name than LPJ Design (No offense intended Louis :D )

  • I think 0gre pretty much nailed it.

Also, from what I read on the Sinister forum, Mr. Logue appears to be leaving the game development world at least for the immediate future, and 'Razor Coast' has a fanbase but no release date. I'm under the impression that it is mostly complete, though.

My impression has been that the fans are fans of Nick's work, not the brand name itself. I'm just skeptical, I guess, that the setting will be the same thing people are fans of now after it's changed hands and is being run by someone else. I'm not saying Sinister couldn't benefit from someone other than Nick running the business and publishing operations, but I can't say I'd be as interested in the setting or specific creative elements if they are being directed by someone else.

My understanding is that Razor Coast is a setting as it is an adventure. So folks might be interested in someone with a good reputation expanding that setting with new adventures.

As far as I was aware RC is something like a big fat mega-adventure, and close to being done. Maybe I'm misinterpreting, but my take on this was that LPJ is talking about finishing it and seeing it out the door. That's all I'm concerned with, because my impression is that all other projects that were to come after are far less complete, and those were the other things I was interested in, specifically the sci-fi material. Those I don't expect to see, I guess, so I'm not worried about it. Ebon Shroud and Anarchist GM Cookbook I guess are about ready to go, too, but I wasn't really following those. If all that happened was that someone got RC out the door, though, I'd call it a success.
