Read lips is legal in PFS.

What book is it from?

EDIT: Huh...I notice that the Zone of Silence spell says that reading lips is a DC 20 Linguistics check. Is there anywhere else that talks about it?

It's in the PFS FAQ, I don't know if it is any other official source.

I was actually considering playing a deaf oracle in PFS, but I hate having abilities that are subject to variability of GMing in PFS. It's also a little less believable to me that a deaf person would be able to function normally when they are around a new group of people every week.

Neither of these are issues in a home game though.

Alright let me try to ressurect this thread :)

I'm currently starting a Deaf Oracle , being able to pair his RP with my brother playing a Barb.

The way i'm going with it is the event that got me my power/deafened me (around 5yo)also caused my parents to die (i'm imagining something "like" the archangels in Supernatural)(hit me up if i'm too far off track) :)

Then a Barb found me in the "empty" house , traumatized by my parents lifeless bodies and took me in . I will actually be deaf and "mute" at the start since i never really got to learn speech properly before it happened ( i'm actually seeing this type of deafness as a 100% deaf , since its a divine curse that's the proper way to see it IMO)

Now getting to the question i have for this fabulous forum :)
Is there a way to have more than one permanent telepathic bond on me (be binded to two persons) or does the first one dissipate when i do the 2nd?

for the start i will have sign language and the Barb will too (along with my chalks and board i carry for everyone else). I'm also open to suggestions if anyone got some good ideas. :)

I'm disappointed this thread was necrod and necro post wasn't about giving example of deaf oracle with lip reading as language(since it is legal due to FAQ) :p

I'm legitimately curious at how that would work out

There's no reason. In fact, permanency makes it clear that you only bind two creatures per casting of permanency. So if you spend the components to cast it twice, you cast it twice.

I digress:
In fact, that gives me an alternate weird idea for a bad guy some day. You can cast multiple instances of the same spell, and typically they just overlap for durations/bonuses etc. So a critical bad guy could double-cast fly or something similar, so if it got hit by dispel magic, he'd remain flying. Certainly situational, but I'll have to remember that for the day I DM for a dispel-happy party, if a villain happens to know their tricks.

THIS IS EXTREMELY LONG. Just warning you.

I've thought this out for a long time and argued it out for a long time and have finally considered posting on the forums about it. I would really like to hear what people think-- if people have played deaf oracles, how their experience was, what their DM did to try to alleviate their curse, what tricks you used to even function at a capable level along with the rest of the PCs in the party.

(I'd also like to say that I'd love to play a deaf oracle because I see it as D&D Ultra Hard Mode, and that in a capacity they can be played and are playable but that almost everything they do is wracked with difficulty and irritance.)

It's in my opinion that the deaf oracle is the most difficult and irritating class to play in the entire game and requires annoyance and rules lawyering at every turn, from both the player and the DM, which is in total contrast to the usually amazingly well written Paizo material.

Let me elaborate on that in seven points.

The only trait that gives you linguistics is a gnome trait?

What about cosmopolitan?
Literally Pick up Perception and Linguistics and you are good to go.
