So my friend owns the local gaming shop here in town. And as a weekly promotion I`m being paid to DM with all my materials (my many thousands of minis, dungeon tiles, books, 3d terrain). So I get paid $30 dollars a session to dm down at the store. I either feel professional or like a prostitute. But this has got to be some sort of milestone.

Hopefully your players won't be a pain in the ass and refrain from falling into edition wars or RAW v. RAI debates. :P
Nope no edition wars. He's a Wizards of the Coast premiere store, therefore it has to be 4th ed. But thats ok I can deal with that I like both pathfinder, and 4th. Hell I'm running 3 different games with 3 different groups a week now with the store and all.

In a few years at 3 games a week you may even recoup the massive investment in minis, terrain et al. ^^ Nice going!

Congrats! I had the pleasure of being a paid DM at a job I held for a year and a half at a books/music/movies store. We held two games every Sunday, one for kids and one for mature teens/grownups, mostly as a demo to show everyone what it was like and get them interested. We got some new folks, and playing with ready access to a soda fountain and snacks was awesome.
Actually, that was a fun job. I also was paid to run a karaoke show in the store (though trying to get sober people to sing in a well-lit store was a little troublesome, it certainly made the job more fun).
Anyways, best of luck! It's a rare opportunity, but one that should be seized!
