Is Lashonna Dead? *Spoilers*

Age of Worms Adventure Path

We are running Dawn of a New Age and about to have the finale with Kyuss. I am thinking that he won't last long, even if I give him just one round to emerge rather than two. He should have some companions, the party has called in every favor they have ever earned and managed to assemble a group of 8 20+level character/npc's.

So, reading up I thought why not have Kyuss wish Lashonna back in. Then I went back and read the entry for the encounter with Lashonna.

Spoiler:
In the second to last paragraph it says, "If she's destroyed, she's forced to retreat to area A11 to recover; She gathers her ring of wishes adn commands the pit fiend Buldumech to accompany her back to the tower to aid in its defense.

She's a vampire, so if they don't ensure she was destroyed she gets away right? Her demise came at the hands of a shapechanged individual in the form of a titan wielding a sunblade. Can't see where that qualify's for beheading, or stake through the heart.

So would you say she's still around?

In the case of a Vampiric Dragon, its hoard works like the coffin of a regular Vampire. If Lashoona is destroyed by the PCs, she would have 2 hours to reach room A11 before being permanently destroyed only if her hoard is still there. (She would probably have a Contigent Teleport to that room in case she is destroyed, but it woud not work because of Manzorian's Dimensional Lock.)
Of course, you could upgrade her to a Vampire Lord, so she could have several resting places prepared.

If reduced to 0 hit points or lower, a Vampiric Dragon automatically assumes Gaseous Form (fly speed 40 feet, otherwise as the spell) and attempts to escape. It must reach its hoard within 2 hours or be utterly destroyed. (It can travel up to 18 miles in 2 hours.) Once at rest upon its hoard, it rises to 1 hit point after 1 hour, then resumes healing at the rate of 5 hit points per round. For obvious reasons, a Vampiric Dragon prefers to keep its hoard well concealed from adventurers and would-be thieves.

That vampire lord is nifty indeed... I especially like this part: "The only way to make sure that a vampire lord does not return is to cut its head from its body, burn the body and the head separately, scatter the ashes from the body over running water, immerse the ashes from the head in holy water, and bury the immersed ashes in consecrated ground. However, if the head ashes are ever unearthed and somehow separated from the holy water, dried thoroughly, and then subjected to an unhallow spell, the vampire lord can regenerate in a week if the ashes are placed inside one of its places of rest." Thanks for the tip!

Thank-you for the ideas on an advanced type of vampire. Lashonna is a really impressive NPC without having to tweek her. My concern is just to be sure that I was right in the fact that she is not done for this module.

With that said the vampiric silver dragon will be joining Kyuss in putting down this band of upstarts who have been working so hard to foil his return!

Thrilmarin, good work! Now the party can have a choice of horrible fates!
