{ooc} I think so - I would say that 4 weeks with no posting of explanation or advance notice is enough
I would agree; recruiting more is a good idea.
That said, I need to apologize for my own inconsistencies of late. Computer issues, followed with the purchase of a new system, have kept me busy. I'll do my best to have everything in order once more by week's end. That said, if someone wishes to take the helm before I get everything set, feel free to do so.

Gnosh Ferhul - Rogue |

Gnosh Ferhul came in as part of a caravan shortly before the snowstorm hit, hired on as extra muscle for the trip to Camlin. With little desire to fight the snows on his return south, Gnosh remained in Camlin, trading in his southern clothes for good winter gear and slowly drinking away his caravan wagesGnosh has been living off of the parties for the last couple days, trying to find work for the winter.
A heavily bundled shape steps away from the bucket brigade towards Caydee and the restrained Tengu. Crouching down next to her, Gnosh gives Caydee a curt nod before leaning in close to the Tengu's ear to whisper a quiet combination of insults, curses and - mostly - threats, trying to get the creature to reveal where his friends would be heading.

Fubar |

Fubar was recently "serving" on a pirate ship, jumping overboard with a single gem that his grandfather had given him, which he sold ashore in cresent harbor, and purchased gear
From cresent harbor fubar arrived in Camlin looking as fierce a fighter as any half-orc and rarely speaking to any.

GM Agent |

Excellent, and thank you Sioned for taking the ball and running with it. Welcome to the group, Gnosh and Fubar; Fubar, feel free to jump in and place yourself wherever you feel is appropriate following the fire and the fight and jump on in.
I do believe I'm settled enough to get back into the swing of things. Hellefire, I realize you may not see this for a few days yet, but I'll send you some info via Obsidian Portal that I was toying around with for future content via Obsidian Portal. Feel free to use it, altar it, or simply leave it be and take the game in your own direction as you see fit.
Caydee and Ahz begin the meticulous task of trailing the tengu through the streets and back corridors of Camlin. Though the town is somewhat small, the poor light and shadows help to hide the avians' tracks. That said, proceeding slowly the two begin to pick out sign of the intruders' passage and begin working their way north.
At Gnosh's words, the pinned tengu's eyes contract for a moment in fear before the creature steels itself once more. It turns its head slightly upon hearing Sioned's inquiry, and what sounds to be a hacking laugh issues from the creature's beak. Lady Raven told us where to find the bauble, the gift for her son. She told us the bareskins would have it. She told us you had stolen it from her metal man, and we found it as she told us.
The tengu glances fearfully at Gnosh before continuing. My rookery brothers will take the gift to her son, deep in the mountains. You will not catch them; the mountains are our home. Lady raven has blessed the Frost Talons with the presence of her son. The gift will be delivered to him, and we will be granted dominion over all in the mountains.

Azhateran Slug |
As soon as I see one in shouting distance, I get the attention of a guard. I explain that we are tracking the tengu who attacked earlier, but we expect they are going to try to slip out of the city to the north. I suggest that the guard at the northern gate be added to or at least on alert, and ask that if anyone can be spared, to send them back to Shae to appraise them and the guards there of the situation - that we will continue tracking, but expect they are trying to leave the city to head back out onto the ice.

Fubar notices a man speaking to one of the town guards. The man is obviously a cleric and reminds fubar of his grandfather (a human cleric). Fubar was going to be a cleric but lacked the inclination for it.
"What is going on here!"
"Ive been waiting for something to happen!"

Sioned |

Sioned nods to the half-orc (Gnosh)
"Can you button this one up for the guards? I need to find Covaut and figure out what he brought into town."
She stands off of the Tengu, leaving Gnosh to secure him. "I'll be back once I find out what that gasbag swiped."
She sprints back in the direction of the Scion guardhouse, Rusty's beady eyes peering out from her cloak.

Azhateran Slug |
Ahz glances quickly over at the half-orc.
I'm in a hurry, so must be quick. Do you know where the Scion guardhouse is?
Ahz continues on, hoping the stranger does indeed know the notorious building,
If you can, please go there and tell the guards, and an adventurer named Sioned if you can find her, that Ahz and KD continue to track the Tengu, but believe they are going to attempt to leave the city to head north, if they have not already. Ask Sioned to join us or head to the north gate and we will be there when the trail leads us that way - but we are almost sure it will.
After stammering the message out as fast as he can, Ahz jumps back on the trail, with a yelled 'Well met and thank you!' over his shoulder.

Sioned |

Beginning to feel surrounded by half-orcs, She comes to a halt outside the Scion's guard house, Gnosh and the bound Tengu in tow.
"I'm Sioned...Oz? Ahz! I gotcha...uhm..."
She chews on her lip, torn between checking with the Rector and lending support to cutting off the Tengu.
"Dammit! Give him to the Scions," Motioning to Gnosh "then you two come with me. Who knows how many more Tengu are waiting outside to support these ones..."
Sioned then dashes off to towards the north gate, flanked by some 500lbs of receding forehead and jutting brow ridge. Rusty voices his displeasure at being jostled.
Muttering "If you don't like it then walk...

Gnosh Ferhul - Rogue |

Depositing the Tengu at the feet of a pair of Scions, who quickly take over custody, Gnosh turns around and follows, swinging past the Bearded Elf to grab his gear. Taking a minute to buckle on his armor and throw a warm cloak over his shoulders, he heads out into the dark in the direction Sioned indicated, hoping his speed will help him catch up.

Sioned |

Sioned shrugs with a half-cocked grin at Caydee's question.
"If you can smell them...then get...to it..."Sioned gasps, out of breath from running."And what happens...if they hopped the wall...or went to ground in town...or didn't come out this gate?"
She takes a deep breath then soldiers on "Too much time inside avoiding the cold...I'm glad my Ma can't see me..."

GM Agent |

Caydee and Ahz continue to track the tengu as the others make their way to their position. Though the avians appear to have continued north, it looks as if they veered somewhat east in their trek, presumably to avoid the main gate into Camlin's Gorge. The town's outer wall is little more than a palisade: built sturdy, but designed to keep intruders out rather than in. The fleeing tengu should have little difficulty passing it.

Andreas Vaughn |

The barking of his dogs awakening him when the bells of the city could not, Andreas peeks out his door at the Bearded Elf in time to witness Gnosh retrieve his equipment and hurry out the inn's front door. Curiosity overriding the urge to return to bed, as well as a slight hangover from the party, the paladin quickly gathers his own equipment and, after quieting his dogs, leaves the Elf in pursuit of the half-orc.

Azhateran Slug |
Ahz curses in Elvish as he realizes the chances of catching the fleeing Tengu inside the city are slim to none.
Glancing in apology to Sioned, Ahz sighs. Shae, I hate to say it, but KD and I need to track, and she's right, this is probably going to involve some camping, and Tully knows you're with us. Can you grab our stuff, and get any other supplies we might need for an extended...holiday?
Ahz tosses Sioned his slim coin purse. It's all I have, looks like it's going to have to be a working holiday. It looks like they are probably already out of the city, or will be soon. If they are, this will turn into an extended trip so we can take a breather and figure out logistics. So you shouldn't have to run much more. Sorry again Shae..and you too Rusty.
Glancing around at the others, Ahz goes on. Thanks for playing messenger earlier, and welcome - perhaps you muscular types want to come with us for now, in case we do catch them and their friends inside the city walls, and we can discuss further plans later. Morning Andreas, how's the head? And are those dogs of yours any good at tracking?
Ahz pauses one more time. I would like to know more about what was in that satchel and where it came from, if anyone has any ideas about getting information out of Rector. Beyond that, I'm fairly out of ideas - just going to track to the city wall and just outside, if they got that far, and if they did then prepare for a trip. We'll leave a big enough trail that anyone can follow us to the city wall, so you can catch up with us when you can Shae. We'll wait at the city wall when we get there.
Ahz pauses to see if anyone has anything to add, then goes back to tracking. Not looking up, he adds Oh, and the name's Ahz, no relation to Oz.

Azhateran Slug |
No worries, I can curse in Elvish but don't really understand why those words are considered impolite. As I am almost sure now that this trail is leading to some section of the city walls, we should probably start planning who is continuing on in the search, as well as what supplies we will need. One of my main points of interest is what Rector and/or the Scions know about the artefact - I think I will follow it in any case, I need to chat with these overgrown chickens about their methods, but I would like to know more if we can. Hm, I'm also curious if Rector or any others might reward us a bit for our efforts - after all, we do need to eat. Hm, hm, hm..
Letting his spoken thoughts trail off, Ahz notices a small feather caught on the corner of the building, motions to Caydee - This way K - and continues tracking.

Azhateran Slug |
I am just guessing that if they have already gotten outside the city, it will be an extended trip so we might as well regroup, rather than the rushing to catch them that we have been doing so far. What the Tengu did - well, they decided gutting somebody was ok. They may have had some reason for it, but I find gutting unwholesome. So I am going to find them and help them see the error of their ways. And explore the wastelands a bit while I'm at it. And maybe see if that trinket was worth the trouble.
I fill the half-orcs in on the few details I know of, regarding what has happened this night and the preceding days parties. I also explain that the Tengu may have been completely correct in wanting the trinket back - it may have been theirs in the first place - but i am going to pursue them because they kileld people that were near me and may have been friends of mine, or friends of friends, without any regard for being nice. Being nice counts.

Sioned |

"I'll put the gears to the Scions and Covaut. I can either meet up with the rest of you before you head to the pass, or else I'll catch up. Don't wait on me. I'll grab your things and some supplies before following you." narrowing her eyes "I think the Rector can spare some coin to fund this little adventure."
Tucks Rusty in and pulls the cloak around herself before making her way quickly back towards the Guardhouse.
"...extended holiday...?"

Gnosh Ferhul - Rogue |

As Gnosh catches up, he calls out, "No doubt it'll be a far haul to get there. Look, I understand: your townsfolk fell, and you want to avenge 'em. It's a harsh world, to be sure, but it'll be for naught if we die in the mountains as well. Now, I'm willing to help because I think the Rector will show his appreciation monetarily, and far be it from me to doubt your tracking skills, miss," he states to Caydee, "but I hope you know these mountains better than your own hands."

Andreas Vaughn |

Andreas nods to Azh in response to the greeting. My head's been better, but I've got my wits about me yet. As to your question, I'm afraid my girls aren't too skilled at tracking; they're trained as guardians, but take them into an unfamiliar environment and they might as well be untrained pups.
The paladin quiets to listen to the events of the morning as Azh details them.

GM Agent |

The Scions' Guardhouse is in poor shape following the blaze. Much of the second floor went up, and what wasn't consumed by flamed appears to have been damaged by smoke and melted snow. Rector Covaut is seated on an overturned bucket several feet from the main entrance, two Scions standing at attention by the man while a third appears to be questioning him.

Azhateran Slug |
Don't think we'll be leaving by the gate Fubar, because I don't think they did and I want to stay on their trail. Gnosh, if you want to help with gathering any necessary supplies then meet us at the wall wherever the Tengu passed through, that may help speed things up. Andreas, maybe you can help with that as well? - I know you've been out on the ice a few times and have an idea what we might need. I don't think we're going to catch them before they pass the wall so probably won't need muscle just yet.
Ahz continues following the trail while talking and listening.

Sioned |

As she approaches the burnt out guardhouse, Sioned ignites an arcane light in her hand and ensures that her cloak is open, displaying her collection of eldritch talismans and other 'witchy' accoutrements. They are shallow tricks, but she wants to present a convincing display of authority to avoid dealing with the Scions.
Disregarding the Scions, she walks up to Corvaut.
"Rector, I think you need to tell me a story about what bauble you collected from the Icewall that brought those Vultures into town. It must have been something valuable for them to have killed over it and risked the inevitable retaliation."
She raises an eyebrow and regards him for a moment.
"I also think it would be a prudent display of good will if you funded the endeavour to bring these creatures to justice. You could be in need of all the good will you can gather once people start to question what led the Tengu to Camlin in the first place..."

Gnosh Ferhul - Rogue |

Gnosh heads back to the Bearded Elf to see if Tully is still awake. If so, he procures 4 days of trail rations for each party member, claiming that the Rector will see to the bill in return for the group returning what was stolen from him. He heads up to his room to secure his pack and bedroll.

I meant to post this yesterday, but it turns out taking care of two toddlers is a handful. Who knew?
I've been taking care of my nieces for the past couple of days, while my sister prepares to bring her next child into the world. Needless to say, I won't have the time to run the game for a while. And of course, I've no idea when I'll have the free time again to do so.
Hellefire, feel free to jump in and take over now; I was planning on continuing through leaving Camlin, but family takes priority. I should still be able to sneak on after putting the girls to bed for the night and update Andreas every other day or so. Just don't expect much depth to the character's actions for a while. ;D
