Ranger combat style feat pre-reqs?

simple question- for combat style feats such as two-weapon fighting, does a ranger need to have a 15+ dex, or could he gain these feats through his class at a lower dex (such as he did back in 3.0 and 3.5)

also, if a ranger can get such feats, could he then get dependant TWF feats with a lower dex?

He doesn't need a high dex to gain his bonus feats and he can use them without meeting the prerequisites (including the +11 BAB requirement for greater two weapon fighting -- he can use it at 10th level).

On part 2: Situationally -- IF he gets them with ranger bonus feats then yes. IF not then he needs to meet only the prerequisites on the feat when it takes it.

For example with a Dex 13 he couldn't get Double slice with a normal feat since it has a dex requirement of 15, but he could get it as a ranger bonus feat.

But if there was a feat that only had a requirement of "Two weapon fighting" then he could take that feat since he meets that feats requirements (that he have two weapon fighting as a feat).

The fact that rangers can get these feats without bothering to fufill the prerequisites is actually pretty major, since it lets rangers focus their ability scores more precisely. A two weapon ranger can, for example, put his high stat in Strength and not have to put it in Dexterity.

I know this is kind of stupid but in theory a Ranger could take Improved or Greater Two-Weapon Fighting without taking Two-Weapon Fighting right?

Yes, but you still take the normal penalties for two weapon fighting unless you have the TWF feat. Taking a -2 on all primary attacks and -6 on all secondary attacks makes that second and third attack in the off hand pretty pointless.

TWF really is by far the most powerful of the 3 feats so would likely never take the other two unless you had it.

I know I was just kind of talking in theory lol. I don't know why'd you'd take one of those without taking Two-Weapon Fighting 1st.

The question matters more when looking at building new combat styles, or looking the monk bonus feat options. Just about all of the current Ranger bonus feat options are useful unto themselves, and not negated by a further feat down the chain.

If for instance, Cleave and Great Cleave were options, skipping Cleave would be an optimal choice.
