Cost to modify armor and magical gear for unusual anatomy.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Silver Crusade

Like say a satyr adventurer finds some nice armor and magical boots. He can't very well wear them as is, so he's going to have to get them worked on.

But how much should it generally cost to get equipment both mundane and magical modified to work for creatures with hooves, horns, wings, limbs that bend differently from most folks, etc.?

Scarab Sages

The PRD says that nonhumanoid armor costs twice as much. For unusual body structures I might go to 3x or even 4x.

Modifying existing armor could be handled the same as increasing the enchantment bonus on a weapon or piece of armor: figure the new price, subtract the existing value, and the difference the amount that must be spent.

In some cases there may be a cost increase due to an increase in material. I would handle that separately from an increase in cost due to complexity. If the creature is Medium size then there's likely to additional material cost.

Silver Crusade

I'm probably looking at the amount of material remaining the same, just being shifted around. Complexity is definitely going to increase though.

Thanks, I'll run this by my GM this weekend.
