Anyone need a ride from MO to WA

PaizoCon General Discussion

The Exchange

I'm going to be driving up to Washington from Missouri by myself as of right now so if anyone needs a ride to PaizoCon I'd be willing to split gas with someone. Your hotel room is your own affair but the travel would be cheaper than a plane ticket. my car can only hold one other person so I can only get one taker. thanks!

Perhaps. I'm in Iowa City. What's your itinerary?

And what route are you looking to take? I'm in Oklahoma, so I might be able to meet you in Tulsa if you were considering coming this far south, and I firm up my plans, and no one else takes you up on your offer.

I may be able to get you Chris. It's about a 4 hour drive to Iowa city from Columbia, not a problem for me. Google maps put the trip from Iowa City to Bellevue at around 30 hours. I intend to make it up for the meet-and-eat on Thursday so that puts the departure time from Iowa City anywhere between 8:00am and 11:00am Wednesday if we drive straight to Bellevue without any stops.(that's about two, seven and a half hour shifts of driving each) If we intend to stop for the night then we'll have to leave around 12:00am or 2:00am Wednesday stopping somewhere in Wyoming or Montana.

What do you think?

I'm afraid not, Kosivo. I don't have enough vacation time at work for that schedule. Even though I really hate flying, I'm going to have to bite that bullet, I suspect. But I sure look forward to seeing you there.

30 hours straight?! You're crazy! Literally. Crazy!

Having made this drive in the past, you have my sympathy.

It's not all that bad, unless you ride in the van of somebody who hates to stop. (Learn from my mistake: think twice about that can of soda if there are more than 15 gallons of gas still in the tanks....)

What's even crazier is that the rest of us going up there from Columbia are flying. Its really not that expensive. He's gonna spend almost as much on gas & food as we are on plane tickets.

We've even invited him to ride with us (for free) to the airport! He just says the same thing, "I kinda like long drives...."

Pay for that plane ticket and luggage check then we'll talk. Owen, I may take you up on your offer. would it be possible for you to get any farther north? It's about 32 hours to Seattle from Tulsa, If we stop for the night somewhere, we would have to leave at midnight-ish on Wednesday morning. If we drove straight through then it would be two eight hour driving shifts each, which would be kind of rough. what are your thoughts?

If you are going to I90 and need a place to rest let me know. We can maybe caravan the rest of the way. (We are about 5 hours from Seattle).

How much do you expect gas to cost?

I live in Maquoketa Iowa.

I'm still just thinking about it and weighing my options, but I hope to.

Sounds like a guy (that's not Owen) in Tulsa I know. He was supposed to come visit Stillwater... hour drive tops. Ended up in Kansas. (Another time he ended up in Arkansas.)
