This is an issue that is buggering my campaign. Would love input from the folks at Paizo.
Playing a Pathfinder campaign with some stuff from that other rules set.
Player's character is a Halfling with the Shadow template (I'm a sucker), so with his super high stealh, he also get HiPS. The requirment for HiPS is that can not be used in sunlight or in an area where the Daylight spell is cast.
I've made an error earlier in the campaign with Darkvision, and after reading several of these threads I agree with the bulk of the community that Darkvision does not help with HiPS in this case. BUT, we have has some issues (energetic debates) with Blindsight and Lifesight. Due to this 'interestng' combining of Perception, his point is that Stealth works against ALL senses (and he has a point), and thus Blindsight.
My point is that with Blindsight you do not need to make a perception check to notice critters within the area your Blindsight covers.

Stealth
If people are observing you using any of their senses (but typically sight), you can't use Stealth.Hide in Plain Sight
You can use the Stealth skill even while being observed, without anything to actually hide behind.
Blindsight
The extraordinary ability to use a nonvisual sense (or a combination senses) to operate effectively without vision.
- sensitivity to vibrations (touch sense)
- acute scent (smell sense)
- keen hearing (listen sense)
- echolocation (listen sense, sonar)
The Logic Chain
1) Hide in Plain Sight ignores being observed.
2) Observed is described under Stealth as "any of their senses."
3) Blindsight is defined as a nonvisual sense.
Hide in Plain Sight allows you to stealth against any of a creature's senses. Remember that Hide in Plain Sight isn't really hiding or visual, its an extraordinary effect (sometimes supernatural) that works outside the laws of reality (just as magic does).

Agreed. In my experience, halflings taste like sugar and regret. A thoroughly unpleasant combination.
