Despite her efforts to avoid its attack, the dummy which Shuriken moves away from manages to aim an ineffective blow towards the tumbling girl. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3, 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2. Reaching her destination, she lands another solid strike, causing visible damage to the dummies framework.
Lathario steps to the side, to I7 and lashes out at the dummy before him, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15, 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9. The blade tears through the rest of the padding around its neck, leaving the wooden 'head' exposed and hanging limply... after a few brief moments, the construct falls lifelessly to the ground.
Daryan completes his spell and steps out of the flanked position he found himself in.

darn, i was trying to clarify my post and accidentally deleted it.
i am at j10, flanking with daryan.
here are my reuslts from the prior post that accidentally got deleted
acrobatics
1 + 8 = 9
damage
5 + 1 + 6 = 12
attack
14 + 7 = 21
my actions were, tumble to j10, and attack the dummy i flanked. i failed to tumble, and my post got deleted by accident as my cat interfered by meowing loud enough to make me jerk my head. my cats ruin a lot of my posts. my cats are responsible for a lot of accidental deletions.

Shuriken Nekogami |

here is a transplant of the post my cat caused the deletion of with his loud whining, and his knack for getting on top of tables.
here is the redescription my results are a few posts above and a section below as well.
shuriken with merely a single one of her hands, and both her legs, handsprings her way to J10, to flank with daryan, she strikes her new target upon the "radial nerve" as well. through use of her baton, she may not have fallen prone, but it was a very unlucky tumble for her.
Acrobatics Check 1 + 8 = 9 (failed because of the dice)
attack roll 14 + 7 = 21 (pretty good hit)
damage roll 5 + 1 + 6 = 12 (awfully lucky damage roll)

Nik aka Nicephora |

QUESTION: if i was to back off and throw my dagger, how does that work if there are friends close. do i have penalties to the roll? does flanking attack and flanking damage bonus still work? is there a chance i hit my friends? is there a difference if they are directly between me and the target or on the other side of the target?

I will let someone with more experience answer your question, but I was happy to see you post... I kept refreshing and feeling like I had mistakenly showed up for work on Saturday. :D
Where is everyone?

![]() |

Just waiting for Sabine, and Garion will probably want to update his action too, since the dummy he was going to attack has been destroyed.
Nik:Throwing your dagger at a target that is in melee(next to an enemy in most cases) means you take a -4 penalty to the attack roll unless you have the Precise Shot feat. You take another -4 penalty if there is anything in the way of your shot that is closer to your target than it is to you.
If you're throwing your dagger at something that knows where you are, in most cases you won't get your sneak attack damage.

Daryan Sadotra |

Since the bottom dummy was destroyed before Daryan's turn, he would choose to 5-ft step up to H11 instead of down to H9. This still gets him out of being flanked, but is more likely to set up flanking for his allies (at F9 and J9). I should write if-then statements for my turns, I suppose.

Alexian |

Alexian will attack the dummy in G-10 with his bastard sword, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24; Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Critical Damage:1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Alexian hacks away at the test dummy, waaaaaay too eager to prove his martial prowess...
If the dummy is done, I'll 5ft step over to H-9

Sabine Sanguessa |

Sabine reaches over and draws a fine looking Starknife from behind her as she steps lightly towards the nearest dummy. She swings the weapon at it's torso.
Move Action: Draw Sanguinus
5' Step into J10
Standard Action: Attack Dummy in I10
Attack Dummy with Sanguinus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

![]() |

Shuriken is already in J10, so I’ve assumed Sabine moved to J9.
Sabine steps forward and lashes out with her three pronged blade, but the dummy leans back, allowing her blow to fall short.
Garion casts another spell and moves to engage the enemy, while Zeldin looses another arc of electrical energy, this one flying wide over his target’s “shoulder”.
Samant too fails to land his blow on the dummy, which lashes back at him with one arm, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 (1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3), and aims a blow towards Shuriken with the other, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 (1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5) .
The Dummy suffering under the barrage of blows from Alexian turns its full attention to the knightly warrior, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 (1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6) and 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 (1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6) - Confirmation: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13/1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (ooh, almost got some revenge!). Taking advantage of the Dummy’s unbalanced position after its assault, Alexian is able to land a decisive strike, severing the torso almost completely from the legs.
6 points of subdual damage for Alexian.
Seeing the dummy before her fall, Nik moves around the melee to bury her dagger deep into the ample padding of the remaining opponent.
Ferrilinth, watching the combat from behind a bench, looks impressed by the groups abilities so far, seeming particularly pleased by Alexian's performance.

Daryan Sadotra |

If the last target dummy is still "alive" on Daryan's turn, he will 5' step to flank if needed, then attack.
To hit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
If the last target dummy is "dead" on Daryan's turn
Daryan turns to congratulate Alexian, impressed at the warrior's skill, which exceeded expectations. Then he channels positive energy to heal the party for 1d6 ⇒ 6 points.
Almost added in extra numbers there...fixed now.

Alexian |

I'm going to assume the last dummy will be finished before my turn comes up.
Seeing the last dummy fall beneath the blows of his teammates, Garion channels positive energy to heal their wounds.
Everyone recovers 1d6 hit points.
Quick question, Garion, how does that work with subdual damage? Does it heal it all?
If the last dummy is still standing by my turn, I'll move to attack it as well. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14; Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Daryan Sadotra |

Quick question, Garion, how does that work with subdual damage? Does it heal it all?
If the last dummy is still standing by my turn, I'll move to attack it as well. 1d20+5; Damage: 1d10+3
According to what I've read... I think when you receive healing, you heal that amount of lethal AND nonlethal damage. Therefore, if you have 5 damage and 4 nonlethal damage, Garion's healing would make you have 4 damage and 3 nonlethal damage afterwards. You might want to double check my reading, though. It's in the Combat section.

Nik aka Nicephora |

NIK realizes things are going pretty well so she decides to try something fancy to test her abilities: isnt this the best place to do it after all? NIK dances acrobatically around the last dummy before she attacks.
So on top of my action (if that s ok with u Calix) I ll use acrobatics to move thru 2 squares threatened by the dummy
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
question: does Garion s blessin give me +1 for my acrobatics roll?

Shuriken Nekogami |

Shuriken takes a 5 foot step to J11 to flank with Daryan again. she strikes the dummy again with her baton, this time, at the neck. she had the intention of finishing it off.
Attack roll
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage roll (if applicable)
1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 1 + (6) = 13
Critical confirmation roll (if applicable)
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Bonus Critical Damage (if applicable)
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

![]() |

Shuriken's blow lands hard, only the thick layer of padding preventing her baton from finishing the job of disabling the construct. Lathario moves to fill the gap opened by her movement and swings his falcata once more, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18, 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2, but while he makes contact, the force of his blow is absorbed by the thick layers of fabric.
Daryan strikes with his morningstar, but the dummy stubbornly refuses to fall.

Zeldin Tarr |

If the dummy stands at his turn Zeldin does the following:
Zeldin saw the dummy still standing felt a tinge of embarrassment that he had not yet contributed to their demise. This was his chance... maybe his best and last and he needed to show he could be valuable in a fight.
This resolve overcame his nerves and he reached inside to pull a more powerful magic, one that he desperately hoped he could control.
With a murmur a flash of blue shot toward the dummy and struck it soundly.

Sabine Sanguessa |

Sabine swings again at the now surrounded Dummy before her, scoring a hit and slicing open it's padded torso.
Attack Dummy with Sanguinus: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 = 26
Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Forgot the bless last round... :/
Don't worry, it wouldn't have made a difference.
Sabine's blade cuts through what little resistance there was left in the dummy, bringing it crashing to the ground.
"Well done," Ferrilinth says, walking over to the group along with the other two judges, "you worked together well, you all made some contribution, though Zeldin's spells did seem somewhat inefficient—"
Merisyl interrupts the elf at this point, "Such is the nature of the magic the boy has at his disposal, against living targets they would have proven more effective." The old woman walks closer to the sorcerer before speaking directly to him, "Sometimes your magic will not be able to overcome your enemies, you should try to find some other way to contribute in case you find yourself in such a position."
She then looks over to Garion, "Similarly, you wasted a spell against the practice dummies, you should remember in future that you cannot magically influence the mind of things that lack the capacity for thought... with a few exceptions in regard to the undead."
Darstave then speaks up with a grin, "You can take a couple of minutes to recover before we head off to the next test, I'm sure you need a little time to catch your breath, despite how easy you make that look."

Sabine Sanguessa |

Sabine Sanguessa wrote:Forgot the bless last round... :/Don't worry, it wouldn't have made a difference.
Yeah I know, I just like pointing out how much of an idiot I can be... ;)
Sabine smiles as the Dummy falls to her blow and the smile widens at the praise from Ferrilinth. She walks over to where Merisyl is standing and asks, "is there somewhere I can get some water? That battle made me work up a thirst." She gives the older woman a friendly smile.

NIK is all worked up from this exciting first physical challenge!
To ALEXIAN: "That's funny! wat about having defenseless maidens in distress fall into yur arms?" giggleNIK spins in a nice dance twirl to fall into Alexian's big arms

Caught off guard by her graceful twirl, Alexian catches Nicephora in his arms abruptly; trying very hard to hide the blush building up on his face. "Graceful as always, love", says Alexian with a smile, in a vain attempt to cover up.

"There will be water back in the testing room," Merisyl replies to Sabine, but her expression softens slightly at the sorceress' smile and she holds out a leather flask from her belt, "but you can drink this on the way."
"The next test will be inside... but the final test will be back here." Darstave answers Nik, then speaks to Garion, "Yes, all three qualities have been tested, but there are still two tests remaining for us to get a more rounded view of your abilities. Don't worry though, the next test won't be so strenuous."
"If you're ready to move on," Darstave addresses the group, "the next test will be back in the testing room." With that, the judges begin to walk back inside.
