The Thassilonian reads as thus: "Refill the flask and return it to its owner."

Daryan nods approvingly at Garion as he stands back up. He had been examining the box because it intrigued him. He jokes dryly, "If you wanted it filled with something stronger you may have to do that yourself."

"That was indeed the test," Darstave says cheerfully as you return the flask to Merisyl, "well done! I believe that should have given us just about enough time to have your final test prepared... back to the training ground!"

"Of course you can," he replies to Nik as he turns to the door, "it's of little use to us now."

NIK grabs the parchment scroll, puts in in her pouch-purse, and eagerly goes back to the training ground!

NIK asks Samant or Darstave (or both!) on the way to the training group about the language on the scroll and what land it comes from. What these people are like.

"Well done", says Alexian to everyone, " I wasn't much help, no enemies seemed to be interested in interrupting the activities...but lifting that thing...whew, I'm sore all over", says Alexian with a self satisfied smile.

Walking beside Alexian, Zeldin watches Nik's exchange with amusement. To Alexian he says softly, I do hope they judge us on what we succeed at, and how well we apply our strengths. If you had beat that cube with your stone you would have been as effective as I was at shocking those training dummies.

I do hope it is not more of them for our last test.

NIK is trying to guess:
"Let's see, so far we've had tests of knowledge, magic, fighting and riddles. What could the last test be? Romance maybe? Shopping? ... wishful thinking! ... We're going back to the training grounds so I bet its something physical! Athletics maybe?"

Shocked by the sudden attention of Nik Samant begins to tell her. In the Varisian region there are ancient vast ruins from this forgotten empire. Very few scholars know the language, but I've seen enough artifacts that I could recognize the script. There are many theories about what each ruin;s purpose was, but I hope to one day be able to explore and catalogue them... maybe even learn the language, since it's been coming up in all of these trials.

"Quite right," Darstave agrees with Samant, "it was one of those ruins that Ferrilinth, Merisyl and I had been excavating just before being asked to oversee the testing here in Absalom... I must confess that is the reason for the theme you have noticed."

"Blessed Desna gave me an intuition about this scroll! Remember? Well I ll keep it so I always remember the wonderful things that await me if I just follow Desna's fortunes where they will take me!"
NIK seems really pleased with her deduction and interpretation of this sign from above! (above, or below, or in the middle ... NIK isnt sure where her blessed Desna lives!)
Turning to DARSTAVE: "So ... am I right about athletics?"

As you emerge out into the daylight once more, it is clear that the time you spent solving the puzzle indoors has been a period of busy activity in the training arena; the clear area where you had fought against the dummies has been filled by a high walled wooden pool filled with water. out of the water project a series of daunting obstacles.

Ferrilinth and Darstave move over to a set of stairs leading up to water level, at the top of which a wide-laced netting extends up to another platform. "Who is first?" the elf asks with a grin.

Rather than do this one at a time, I'll save time by adjudicating your actions simultaneously.

Shuriken will step up behind Samant. she tightens the fastening on the obi of her kimono and then tightens the fastening of her sleeves, she follows up by tightening her scarf, and tightening her ribbon. she then tightens the fit of her boots. this was all to make it harder for her clothes to get caught on something. she had an obscession with retaining her modesty. the pool of water had awakened her fear of tentacles. a fear that any young girl from minkai had.

Reaching the top of the stairs, the netting, much like a ship's rigging, extends 30' upwards.

This will require four successful climb checks to reach the top, or just two if you attempt an "accelerated climb" by taking a -5 penalty. I'll be keeping track of how many rounds you take to complete the course, you can make two climb checks in a round.

obstacle courses are one of my specialties, i had to clear many in my ninja training. i think i am quite suited to leading this particular task. shuriken begins to tell everyone. seeming rather honest about it.

how easily does the netting support the weight of a 12 year old girl attempting to catch herself? if i continue falling anyway, will someone else have the ability to attempt to do any catching?

You only failed the check by 4, so you don't need to catch yourself. You only fall when you fail by 5 or more. The netting easily supports grown men in armour, so a young girl isn't a problem.

I don't think there are any rules explicitly covering that, but I don't see a problem with it.

Shuriken upon reaching the top will attempt to identify the next part of the test, that is, if it really is an obstacle course. if it really was such a thing it would be her chance to shine brightly. she had succeeded at plenty of these in her past. and she had really enjoyed them. the pair of slit like pupils in each of her golden eyes begin to widen into a pair of standard rounded pupils in each eye. this was a sign of intense pleasure. her pupils become more "normal" in moments of happiness. and more like a pair of progressively thinner slits in moments of anger.

Sweet, I figured since half plates a combo of chain and plate that I might be able to scrounge something from it.

Alexian stumbles at the start of his climb, but since he is on the platform, he doesn't fall. Reaching a quarter of the way up the netting he seems to be finding his rhythm. 1 round

Shuriken walks across the beam at full speed. her pupils widening further in joy. she was quite accomplished at this. she began to giggle playfully. she really enjoyed this particular test.

Shuriken easily dances along the beam, the next section of the course extends 30' to the right, a ten foot wide walkway with another beam at the far end. 3.5 rounds.

Alexian:

Alexian stalls at his current position in the rigging, and in an attempt to push onwards he slips! You will fall to the bottom unless you make a DC30 reflex save. (let's hope for a 20!) 2 rounds.

Garion:

Don't worry, you reached the top with the check before the "4", you could also attempt a DC30 reflex save to catch yourself if you fall.
